To ask if anyone else has FOMO?!

I'm working tonight (support worker) but I must say I'm starting to get really bad FOMO seeing everyone get dressed up and going out. Anyone else in the same boat?! Let's share our boring NYE stories to give each-other some comfort 🤣

Also... so glad I won't be hanging tomorrow!

To me a boring NY is a win, it’s the actively disastrous ones that stick in my memory.

@MouseMinge I am totes jealous of your cat heat pad. Kasper is only concerned with keeping the top of his cat tree warm. I think I have FONCH (fear of no cat heat).

To be fair, when you want to move the cat heat pad can get a bit temperamental so it's not all perfection.

I'm just about to give my DD and her pals a lift to as close to the centre of Edinburgh as I can be bothered to.
There's no way I would ever go to the Hogmanay street party.
I'm going out clubbing tomorrow night. I'm in my 50's 😂

I have been out for food with friends today and will see family tomorrow but DP is working tonight so i’m at home with DC who’s sleeping. Currently on the sofa with the dog and a glass of wine - your thread just made me realise I have zero FOMO and am completely content… I was never really a new year person but have often had FOMO for other things in the past!

No, I'm just glad I don't feel I'm missing anything if I stay home on NYE. Had a very nice dinner and two glasses of wine and feeling no pain!

Oh jeez yes. NYE 1999 I went to see the so-called 'Wall of fire' on the Thames. Long story short, I didn't get home until about 4am and it took me three days to recover from standing in a crowd for seven or eight hours as well.

Don't really do NYE. I’m full of cold as is dd so we’re all in our pjs with the fire on and we’ve watched a film with some Christmas chocolates. Dc have just gone to bed and I’ll be up by 10. I’m not bothered in the slightest. I don’t really like going out or drinking. I’m happy at home in my pjs with dh and the kids. JOMO all the way 😁

I've had a piss boring Xmas, just me, dh and kids. Looking forward to friends round tonight, but dh is ill, so I've had to cancel. Cue lots of "but I can't help being ill" and "No one will thank me if they catch this.

I always find that I just need to avoid social media at this time of year! Everyone wrapping up their "BEST" year ever with shitty little montages. Do I sound bitter??! I'm nearing the end of a 12 hour shift and I just want my bed and my cats 🤣🤣🤣

Oh god, definitely stay off SM (smugcial media), unless you want the quintessential NYE puke without even the overpriced drinks bit ;)

Way to old for all that rubbish. Cold, wet, dark, fighting through the crowds to try and buy a very expensive drink.
I don't mind a NYE house party but no invites forthcoming. Am I bovvered? Am I hell 🤣🤣

I'm sitting at home with small kids and would LOVE to be out at a party or in a pub which a bunch of people, maybe meeting some friendly new folks.

We were at a big family party last night. Right now, dh has made a turkey, ham and leek pie for tomorrow and we're both chilling in our pj's watching The Last Leg. For added benefit, I have a fat cat on my lap a large single malt and some Christmas chocolates.
Very jealous of the poster with the baked camembert.

I'm home alone for the first time in two weeks. Watching fireworks out the window, happy to not to have to put a bra and uncomfy shoes on.
No fomo here.

Yeah I have it! Had to cancel all plans over Christmas as I had Covid, so we had nothing sorted for tonight as we would have arrived back from visiting family and were planning to just have a family night. Which we've done...meal with all our favourite food, kitchen dance and a movie. All very nice but after a week of enforced isolation I am so ready for some fun! This time last year we invited neighbours over for a party. This year, I see they're having a party but we're not invited. Which I'm a bit cheesed off about if I'm honest as we went to a lot of effort last year!

Not that it matters as I'm certainly nowhere near party ready as still suffering the after effects of Covid. But yeah, it's added to my FOMO! Gonna switch the phone off and go to bed, and be grateful I won't be hungover tomorrow...

In bed, in my PJ’s, with the electric blanket on, also watching Marry Me, snuggling the cat (who we didn’t have this time last year). DC are in their rooms, online with mates, DH is watching something else downstairs, we’ve had Chinese, will all meet up to watch fireworks on TV and see the New Year in. I feel very content and not at all envious of others who are doing what makes them happy.

Sorry to those including OP who have to work. Actually remembering one of the best news years I ever had was when I was doing voluntary work (following a break up as I wanted distraction on NYE). Me and a fellow volunteer finished just before midnight, and ended up having beers back at mine, it was actually a brilliant night!
