To think Center Parcs really isn’t middle class

Just spent a few days there for the first time. It’s expensive and the people there seem to be v affluent in terms of clothes/cars, but middle class? I was surprised.

Not sure why it matters but very affluent people are mostly middle class aren’t they? As opposed to upper class aristos? Or am I missing something?

Always on MN why do we insist on putting people in "class" brackets is almost 2024 FFS,

People who go on about class remind me of people who go on about money all the time, boring and don't have either

How are you deciding whether they are middle class or not?

Are you middle class - and is that obvious (either way)?

It's changed a lot over the last 20 years. I've never been middle class having been brought up in poverty on a council estate, but I know how to 'fit in' due to work etc. I'm not saying it's a good thing one way or another.

When we first went when DSs were babies, it was very much outdoorsy middle classness. It's gradually changed to more of a money talks adventure activity type place rather than mostly being about rumbling about in the woods on your hired bike.

Middle class is such a stretchy concept that it doesn't really help define who goes to Center Parcs.

Oh no! Were there non-Guardian readers there? People who graduated from a non-Russell Group university? Those who, for some reason, drive an expensive car but have never read any Hilary Mantel novels? People who live in a period house in a naice area but have never put a "VOTE REMAIN" sticker in their bay window? Those who don't seem short of cash but have an estuary accent? Dreadful. Look into counselling.

Center Parcs is a bit “chavvy” for want of a better word these days. Lots of well off people but not so much class, overly full and busy and much too expensive.

Center parcs is full of people who think haven/butlins etc are beneath them whilst being the exact same demographic other than having a bit more spare cash

Sometimes I read these kinda posts and it makes me forget that the MN demographic is so skewed in one direction. To even be thinking about ‘class’ in nearly 2024… lols
