Farting on trains

It seems to happen quite frequently these days, and 99% of the time it's men. It's disgusting, I know sometimes it's not deliberate but leaving a stench like that for other people is vile, and you can't always open windows on trains, like the Avanti one I'm currently on.
If it's not that, it's people chewing their nails and then wiping it on whatever they find, picking their nose, generally disgusting habits to do on a packed train. Again the vast majority are men.

You said that you "don't see why I should have to hold in a normal bodily function, giving myself stomach ache."

Pissing and shitting are normal bodily functions that relieve discomfort. If you can hold on to your piss and shit until you are somewhere where you won't inflict it on anyone else, why can you not do it with wind? Farting in a confined space with other people is disgusting and is easily avoided by holding on until you are in an open space or, better still, a toilet.

Pearl clutchers like you and PPs on this thread are the reason people with bladder and bowel diseases are anxious about going out and are made miserable by their condition. You need to grow up and realise that bodily functions aren't disgusting, they're a fact of life. Wait till you're elderly and doubly incontinent, and see how you feel if people treat you with disgust instead of empathy. A whole few seconds of smelling something unpleasant is not a big deal.

@FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper Oh lolololol! I'll be giggling all day about that one!

Probably. However, "letting rip" isn't necessary. It can be done quietly.

Actually I suspect there are people with IBS or other health conditions who might need to take a break during a job interview.

I don’t think you’d get the job if you did an SBD at the interview. Does that not bother you?

And if you can see why it might put the interviewer off you, you ought to be able to imagine how it might upset strangers on a train. Or do you not respect strangers because you don’t know them?

And you just seem to be speculating about these other people who “might” need to take a break in an interview.

I'm happy to fart anywhere and don't see why I should have to hold in a normal bodily function, giving myself stomach ache.

Very selfish of you.

I'm not a pearl clutcher, I just don't like to be subjected to the smell of other people's bowels on public transport.

I did not say that bodily functions are disgusting. I said "Farting in a confined space with other people is disgusting". Do you see the difference?

What do you expect them to do, travel without their bowels? Last time I heard, they didn't come with a zip attachment.

I know it's not your intention op but this thread, the responses about men and the whole thing has given me such a good laugh. I'm just getting over emergency surgery and I really needed this😂

They pretty much do. It’s called a sphincter.

Which doesn't tend to work for people with bowel conditions, and they shouldn't be made to feel shamed in public for it.
