Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

I miss Noughties/ tens mumsnet!

What the fuck. Let’s just bend reality, truth and science and get offended and start gaslighting if anyone objects.

A woman who has taken enough male hormones to be able to grow a moustache will most certainly not be having periods anymore.

Hmm, I’m still having periods and could manage to grow a pretty good moustache if I didn’t remove it (due to PCOS, not taking hormones).

Can we not equate facial hair with trying to be or look masculine, please?

Pretty much sums up trans ideology!

DragonMama3 · 19/12/2023 19:21

also pcos. Not fun.

ok i'll bite, where is the transphobia?

Or, do you believe that trans women have periods and that women should be told by modi bodi to be kind to trans women when they have their periods?

https://www.modibodi.co.uk/blogs/womens/transwomen-period?irclickid=3K-2Jk1ISxyPR7gUth0nvy00UkH0Ccw9m2xj1M0&irgwc=1&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=Impact&utm_campaign=Skimbit%20Ltd.%7C10078#:~:text=Many%20trans%20women%20have%20periods,the%20form%20of%20feminising%20hormones.

… basically every reply in the thread is blatant transphobia. There is really no denying that.

The link describes the hormone changes trans woman go through which sound similar to those cis women have during periods. I know I had a week where i felt very ‘period-y’ without bleeding when I had the contraceptive implant. But I believe in being kind to trans women in general :)

VolvoFan · 19/12/2023 19:22

Transphobia? Ha, okay. There is no irrational fear of men pretending to be women. There is plenty of justified anger, though.

IAmAnIdiot123 · 19/12/2023 19:23

Well, they do get periods if Modibodi can make more money, obviously. 'Inclusivity' usually means, who else can we make part with their cash.

DragonMama3 · 19/12/2023 19:23

I had a trans friend at my wedding.

justteanbiscuits · 19/12/2023 19:23

A trans man may still have periods. I see transmen on their website, not transwomen

clearly illustrating the role capitalism has to play in this nonsense

Yup. Never mind the ethics, buy the shares!

CatMadam · 19/12/2023 19:08

Boring transphobia in the thread aside -are you sure they aren’t talking about trans men,
who often do have periods depending on where they are in their transition/if they aren’t transitioning fully?

I was thinking this - surely they must mean transmen not transwomen? I'm waiting for a source.

Abbimae · 19/12/2023 19:24

I find the whole thing insulting given that periods are trying to kill me (endo) and people mock this and pretend to have one

VolvoFan · 19/12/2023 19:26

Also being referred to as a 'cis woman' pisses me off to no end. But nevermind. There is far more serious fuckery afoot in life.

Trying reading the entire thread, this is at least the 5th time I've posted this page from the modi bodi website.

jeaux90 · 19/12/2023 19:27

@CatMadam you can "be kind" if you like but you cannot give consent on behalf of others for these males to be in our spaces. Consent is not transferable. Nor can you expect people to believe these males are women.

There is a difference between a gay transsexual and a straight cross dressing fetishist, and whilst we don't know how to tell the difference visually they can all stay out of my space and stop pretending to have periods.

AnneLarsen · 19/12/2023 19:27

It’s really important that young women are given correct medical information. Stating (incorrectly) that a period is a collection of hormonal symptoms and not bleeding is absolute bollocks.

If a GP asks a woman when she last had a period then he or she is referring to bleeding. If women are under the impression that bleeding is not part of a period then it risks miscommunication between a woman and her doctor and possible missing of conditions which may be linked to periods stopping or being irregular.

Who gives a shit about boring old women’s health eh?

Yes you're right about that link. BUT language has become so mangled by genderists that it is no wonder that some women think that this means they are being targeted at trans women.

Then there are the trans women who claim to experience periods - as this is also on the modi bodi site

https://www.modibodi.co.uk/blogs/womens/transwomen-period#:~:text=Many%20trans%20women%20have%20periods,the%20form%20of%20feminising%20hormones.

It may well do but it goes on to these hormonal changes 'periods' which they are not. Periods involve bleeding. Transwomen don't bleed.

YANBU. I've seen a trans identified male modelling their pants on their website. What a joke. Periods are a part of a woman's menstrual cycle, men don't have ovaries, a womb nor a vagina. I for one am sick of being insulted to pander to the egos of men.
