Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

Some trans women don’t have uteruses

Lol wut. Unless I missed a seriously important memo no trans women have uteruses?? This is basically larping.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/12/2023 19:32

And @CatMadam why should Modi Bodi be asking women to 'be kind' to trans women who have self inflicted hormone imbalance that they are calling 'periods'? That's gaslighting, it's nothing like menstruation. They can fuck right off with that.

Orangeandgold · 19/12/2023 19:32

When I was younger I had a friend who transitioned - male to female.

They told me they had periods.

I didn’t ask any further questions.

I think I felt kinder letting them believe it.

Or I just didn’t have the headspace to unravel the science.

(No I don’t believe trans women can have periods but of course if you have a womb then you are more likely to menstruate)

TheThingIsYeah · 19/12/2023 19:33

Clown World.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 19/12/2023 19:33

… basically every reply in the thread is blatant transphobia. There is really no denying that.

Explain what is transphobic. Denying reality isn't transphobic.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 19/12/2023 19:35

In what world is it kind to affirm a lie?

The link describes the hormone changes trans woman go through which sound similar to those cis women have during periods. I know I had a week where i felt very ‘period-y’ without bleeding when I had the contraceptive implant. But I believe in being kind to trans women in general :)

Blatant transphobia to say that trans women (ie biological men) do not have periods? Are you mad?
You cannot have a period if you do not have a uterus. It’s really simple.

CatMadam · 19/12/2023 19:36

@jeaux90 I will continue being kind, thanks. I can’t imagine having as much hate towards any group of people as transphobes do towards trans people. I find it very sad.

VolvoFan · 19/12/2023 19:37

The uterus has to have an endometrium. The endometrium grows a lining. That lining is shed if there is no pregnancy. Only biological women have a uterus, thus only biological women can menstruate and thus only biological women bleed down there.

Experiencing PMS is not a bleed. PMS symptoms induced with supplementary synthetic hormones do not constitute a menstrual bleed.

There are men out there that simulate vaginal bleeding by shoving frozen ketchup up their bottoms and taking laxatives to simulate cramps and bleeding.

It is appeasement to a delusion. Nothing more, nothing less.

itsgettingweird · 19/12/2023 19:41

It does say all people who menstruate.

Then they have 2 images of actual men wearing them. They DO NOT have periods.

Trans men do.

But biological men do not.

Tatumm · 19/12/2023 19:42

Many of my female friends don’t have periods because they have a coil or else take the pill continuously. So the period product manufacturers have to find new markets. Yet to expand their markets a tiny bit to take in fetishists, they will alienate a portion of the biologically female market who still get periods. What a time to be alive 🙄

The truth is hateful? The truth is transphobic? Well so be it.

I'd prefer a world where women weren't being gaslighted into being kind at our own expense. Where's your kindness to the women who are harmed by your kindness to these males? Or don't they matter so much? You know the ones like Sarah who can no long access single sex rape support in Brighton because there is no service available any longer and has been called transphobic for even asking for it?

Why I’m suing Survivors' Network

Rape victims need female-only spaces

An added perplexity is that they say it’s for all genders and then call the product a “boy short”.

How refreshing to see a company that is forward thinking and inclusive.

That bit has got me scratchin me noggin too. Is there now a subset of AFAB trans women out there?
I must have missed the memo, because I always thought TW=AMAB=no womb🤔
The plot thickens..

Here's what else Essity do:

On top of Modibodi, Essity own the following UK-marketed brands:

  • Cushelle
  • Velvet
  • Plenty
  • Tempo
  • TENA
  • Tork
VolvoFan · 19/12/2023 19:52

Oh my dear God the AMAB/AFAB shit. I'd forgotten about that.

Just FYI I almost never swear. I'm just so angry right now.

WickDittington · 19/12/2023 19:52

I can’t imagine having as much hate towards any group of people as transphobes do towards trans people.

Well, I don't know about where the transphobes congregate, but on this thread there's no "hate" towards transpeople - the scorn is for corporations who are jumping on the trans bandwagon and pretending that men (however they identify) menstruate.

Didimum · 19/12/2023 19:53

Trans men do.

But biological men do not.

How can you tell the two images are ‘actual men’?

Didimum · 19/12/2023 19:50

Just wait until you hear about Father Christmas.

Well as far as I know that lie never harmed anyone.

That human's can change sex is a completely different matter. Plenty of collateral damage, like the doctor who goes on Tik Tok singing about Yeeting Teets, and women being raped in what should be single sex spaces.

Women losing out in sport to mediocre males and on and on...

This period thing is minor but it is part of a harmful toxic culture that promotes telling women to 'be kind' and to support male delusions even when it causes us harm.

KissTheRains · 19/12/2023 18:16

This trans ideological push has been helped by manufacturers and brands that see it as a new pool of customers.

Tampax couldn't sell to men before, now they can.
Couldn't sell period knickers to men before, now they can.

Even Sandwiches, sling a silly logo or ugly flag on and virtue signal whilst flogging tat to make billions for old men.

It's all about the money.

Beat thing you can do, is email them and tell them to shove their period pants up their wombs

Please tell me how on earth tampax can sell to men (aside for men buying them for their wife/partner/daughter/sister)

ForTonightGodisaDJ · 19/12/2023 19:54

@lifeturnsonadime what a crock of shit. I'm half tempted write them a message on their contact us page. Fortunately I'm in a good mood but perhaps one day..

Unlike the lining of their uterus which doesn't thicken.....because they haven't got one 🤣
