How often? Settle a debate on what constitutes 'normal' and what's excessive please.

Whole house once a week. Heavy use rooms 2-3 times a week. Place the dog sleeps in twice a day.

He's a hairy bugger.

daffodilandtulip · 16/12/2023 20:53

Downstairs all the time, I'm a childminder 😂. Upstairs fortnightly when the cleaner comes. It was fortnightly everywhere when I had a normal job.

stayathomer · 16/12/2023 20:54

Those who hoover every day, how do you have time? Do you not work? I have time to hoover one room a day because I work full time out of the house.
we do it in the evening after work, mostly me, sometimes dh, sometimes kids. has to be done because of pets and asthma in the house

stayathomer · 16/12/2023 20:58

Ps sorry to be clear I work weekends so have two days during the week to get house stuff done easier so it’s not like I hoover every single day after work!!

Papillon23 · 16/12/2023 20:59

Once a week here. I've got lighter coloured carpets now and it could do with being done twice a week really but I am too lazy.

Yes, own business and work every day (literally). Hoover daily downstairs as I have a hairy dog! She doesn't go upstairs so that's a twice a week job. It doesn't take long to do five rooms downstairs. I'm so used to doing it now it doesn't seem a chore.

LifeonMarsnotVenus · 16/12/2023 21:10

I’m happy to leave the dust bunnies to hold parties amongst themselves and so will hoover when I can be bothered, about twice a month maybe?

Vallmo47 · 16/12/2023 19:57

Daily for us

The whole house???

Gigia · 16/12/2023 21:12

Daily here

UsingChangeofName · 16/12/2023 21:12

I'm with your partner.
When my cleaner comes, she does the rooms she does (which isn't all the rooms in the house) once a week.
Before I was lucky enough to have a cleaner, I could easily go 2 - 3 weeks (would be sweeping the kitchen most days).

Daily is bonkers.

mumda · 16/12/2023 21:13

Stayed at a friend's when I was 16 and her parents went away. Could we vacuum the lounge daily?

No.

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/12/2023 21:13

Most days.

Candycurrantbun · 16/12/2023 21:15

Downstairs every couple of weeks. Upstairs about once a month.

I think 2-3 weeks is bonkers! Just shows how different we all are.

TheWanderingWoman · 16/12/2023 21:17

I do it daily but it would probably be less if I didn't have dogs.

Desecratedcoconut · 16/12/2023 21:17

Kitchen: practically daily
Living room & bedrooms, twice a week
Stairs, begrudgingly every other week.

AuntyMabelandPippin · 16/12/2023 21:18

When I had 4 small DC I hoovered at least twice a week, and daily in the kitchen where they ate.

Now, it's once a week, unless it's Autumn, (bloody leaves) or there's a mess.

stargirl1701 · 16/12/2023 21:19

Once a week before we had a dog. Now daily.

CharlottePimpernel · 16/12/2023 21:21

Daily, because I live in a very small flat with a dog and a five year old child, and it gets filthy.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 16/12/2023 21:22

Downstairs daily, upstairs at least once a week.

HydrateYourself86 · 16/12/2023 21:22

3-4 times a week.

fallingapart2 · 16/12/2023 21:23

Surely, for those people that do it once a fortnight it must take ages? To deep clean to that level, all the dust and shed hair, both human and pet?
If you do it daily it takes about ten minutes max. I use a cordless Dyson and just run it round every room quickly, doing the odd under the bed or behind this chest of drawers if it hasn't been done in a few weeks. I don't break and sweat and it's not a big deal. But if I left it a week the carpets would be minging with sock fluff and dust and crumbs and dropped bits of crap. I can't imagine not doing it daily, but DP insists that I'm OCD about it. 🤷‍♀️

Once a week here when the cleaner comes. We have small children so we sweep under the table most days and hoover up any messes that are made. No pets.

TeenLifeMum · 16/12/2023 21:24

Once a week, then I grab the cordless if someone makes a mess.

ChocolateTVandbaby · 16/12/2023 21:25

Daily downstairs and weekly upstairs
