Are they back in/never went out?

Ive noticed three different Christmas trees in well to do 🤷🏻‍♀️😂homes recently and they look really nice.
I grew up with them as an 80’s kid, but only ever have used the plain yellow/white lights

I love our coloured lights. Plain ones are super boring

Coloured Christmas lights are as working class as pit bulls and tattoos.

The thing is, the folk pretending to be MC will have white ones and still go to work in the morning 🤣

Does a lurcher and tattoo (singular) count?

Well pleased.

Never realised lights were in or out.

My daughter did our tree and she just used red and white non flashing looks posh but I miss the flashing tacky lights

Takacupokindnessyet · 15/12/2023 22:25

Never went out

Same! The ones that get really hot to touch and have the fuse bulb on the end. They have a vintage charm. The new coloured LED ones are a little too vibrant.

I'm all for tinsel and foil ceiling decs too.

And all those happy hours spent unscrewing and replacing each bulb in turn till you find the one that's blown. Then finding that it's obviously two that have gone, so repeat replacing all possible pairs of bulbs.

What I do wish would disappear are those migraine inducing luminous LED blue (just blue not multicoloured) ones that look like a police car is in the house.

Edited

Outdoor blue ones are horrid, especially when you are driving late at night and you see a flashing blue glow in the distance.

I have vintage coloured lights and coloured LED lights. I love them. Have always had coloured lights and always will.

I've bought some multi colored lights this year and I love them. It's nostalgic, I'm a 70s/80s child and it makes me remember happy childhood Christmases.

Stickytreacle · 15/12/2023 23:51

I've had coloured lights for the past three years

Stickytreacle · 15/12/2023 23:54

The colours are more pink in rl.

We went shopping for lights 2 years ago, I wanted warm white but they were out of stock and only had colourful or bright white left. DH wanted colourful anyway and I don’t like bright white so we got colourful.

I wasn’t keen on the idea at first but now I love colourful. They are so much nicer and the kids love them. I love the houses with all the colourful lights outside, makes the ones with white icicles look boring (I used to love just white icicles but now it’s all about the colour).

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 16/12/2023 00:32

I have coloured lights and warm white lights. I have all the colours on my tree - I actively dislike the curated, symmetrical, 'tasteful' look. I want my tree to reflect how I like Christmas to be - fun! I do wish they'd stop putting blue light in though. Blue is not Christmas!

I wish I had some of the lights my mum had though. She had these fabulous fibreoptic ones when I was a kid - like these but I only remember the hairy bits being on one side.

I'm disgusted that Balsam Hill sell pre lit trees with coloured lights. I thought getting a BH tree would make me MC but now I find out the coloured lights make me WC. Shall I just not plug it in then?

You're going to need therapy for this one. 😆
