To find this film disturbing

"Leave the world behind" I find it more like a prediction,/warning on what's to come. Netflix tend to do this. Total shutdown of the internet, pho nes etc and the anarchy that would follow. Could this be a warning of the future? Very disturbing film.

No. I found it boring and I hated the end. I hate films that don’t have a proper end and leave it on a cliff hanger

Meowandthen · 11/12/2023 19:09

I always find it funny how people think that the powers that be are all secretly conspiring against us, yet making their plans obvious through the media and internet, the two can’t be true as they are contradictory 🤣

I’m ready with the tin foil for them.

Cats rule the world. Everyone knows that.

Amen.

HarrumphryBogart · 11/12/2023 18:58

Why would they tell us the plan?

Apparently the Illuminati has to tell us what their plans are so that people, if we don't object, then we are giving them our 'consent'.

OP don't worry....there is a lot of stuff online about WEF and Schwab and the evil cabal who want to kill us so they can preserve the world's resources for themselves as they try to develop trans humanism and live forever. Most of it is a nonsense and will never, ever happen.

I don't think the people laughing at you are as smart as they think they are, either, mind you. I think there ARE things going on that would shock us if we knew. Just look at the likes of Rothblatt.

No but Netflix is used to promote scare mongering.

No, Netflix shows films that people pay to see . They are a money making company , it’s called capitalism, I believe it’s very popular and has spread across most of the world. Nothing to get anxious about.

JoeyRamonesHair · 11/12/2023 19:21

I'll watch the film as it has a good idea behind it, though it has to be better executed than the book, which was ridiculously pretentious. Also - the creepiest part of the book was the writer's fixation on everyone's sex life and genitals (even the children's - yuck).

Grammarnut · 11/12/2023 19:23

Well, we used to live without the Internet and certainly mobile phones, and for many people without a phone in the house. It was normal. Netflix is producing sci-fi - generally sci-fi is worth thinking about. Think 'Soylent Green' and the push for humans everywhere to eat insect flesh.

Castlerock44 · 11/12/2023 17:11

The scarce resources.

But why would the people who run the world tell people of their plans through Netflix? Also if they run the world don’t they have access to the resources they want? If not how do they run the world if they don’t control such things?

That kind of logic reminds me of Alex Jones saying how the CIA called him up to say they were going to assassinate him. When if they wanted to they would just do that and not give warnings.

No way OP got their covid jabs.

😂😂😂😂

newnamethanks · 11/12/2023 19:38

Bloody Netflix going for World Domination again. Will they never learn? World Domination belongs to the Lizard People. Ask David Icke.

NightmareGirl · 11/12/2023 19:38

I don’t think it’s that far fetched we could have a war and communications cut- off

Uniqueusername2 · 11/12/2023 19:45

It’s a really stupid film. The concept is interesting but the impact of not being able to communicate is much less of an issue in the city than this isolated house where we are made to believe somehow white privilege is why the rich owners of the house are made to sleep in the basement
total waste of time

startquitting · 11/12/2023 19:51

the impact of not being able to communicate is much less of an issue in the city than this isolated house

The bombing and mushroom cloud over the city might have made it difficult to communicate..

RunningOnMusic · 11/12/2023 19:52

It's based on a book Leave The Wolrd Behind by Rumaan Alam published in 2020. I don't think Netflix is sending messages about the end of the world.

My cat has just swung around in his high-backed leather swivel chair and said, between puffs on his cigar, that thumbs are overrated...

just wait til he’s got to light the next one

I don’t think it’s that far fetched we could have a war and communications cut- off

But not caused by Netflix

NightmareGirl · 11/12/2023 20:33

Not caused by Netflix but it’s not like they’re unaware of what’s happening

Oh I love Apocalyptic/end of civilisation films. They're my comfort viewing.

Me too, looking this up now

ssd · 11/12/2023 20:45

Im scared of films like this, it gives me something else to worry about

They like to scare us.

I watched this yesterday and then did a bit of googling and discovered the book etc.

What did ring true for me was the way it was framed that the easiest way to conquer a country isn't by messy direct invasion, but by using technology to cripple infrastructure and using new weaponry such as the sonic attacks drones, radiation / microwaves to cause chaos - basically rely on human nature to cause a population to turn on itself, do all the dirty work then swoop in and impose a regime of any sort which would be sweet relief in comparison if it restored order and security.

It's fairly feasible I think, given the way governments are using psy op tactics. A bit of digging around the fringes of the Internet throws up all sorts of interesting stuff in terms of military research into ways to use new technology for surveillance and propaganda.

There's a YouTube channel called Truthstream Media that has some thoughtful stuff if anyone fancies following the white rabbit.

Ultimately I reckon the end of the world as we know it will be by collective nervous breakdown and we're halfway there lol.

Not convinced there's one cabal to rule us all, however, there are groups of people with various vested interests all trying to gain traction, and corporations are working hard with nation states to facilitate their continuous profiteering, by developing data surveillance to a level where privacy will be utterly meaningless.

I enjoyed the film for what it was.... grains of truth woven into a relatable narrative basically.

As to the future - well, after the last three tears, very little would surprise me... not even bloody aliens at this point....

tinkrbell · 11/12/2023 20:57

It’s a screen adaptation of a book. I had to read the book a couple of years ago for
a book club in lockdown and hated it, boring book and hated the ending. I threw my kindle across the sofa at the end of the book in frustration. Stupid book. Stupid ending. I will
not be watching the film.

NightmareGirl · 11/12/2023 21:00

Sometimes the movie is better

Myfabby · 11/12/2023 21:18

Kpo58 · 11/12/2023 17:10

The ending annoyed me as it didn't tie up any loose ends. It's like they got halfway through filming the film, got bored and gave up.

seemed they ran out of budget. Very annoying! They better not have a part 2!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 11/12/2023 21:18

When I first watched Mad Max in 1980 I thought it was a prediction of the future.

hasn’t quite happened yet
