Am I the only person who can't stand the word fanny?

I find the word fanny ick and uncomfortable. I really cringe when people use it. It just sounds vile and reminds me of like a big fat builder fanny or something weird like that (I know, what is wrong with me!?) But seriously is anyone else the same?

What other words make you cringe??

Fanny is all about context for me.

As a vagina reference, absolutely not. But I do love to tell people to stop fannying around.

Here in Scotland we love calling people fannies . It makes me laugh. I don’t like it as a serious reference to vulva/vagina though.

It's fairly standard where I live (North West England) it sounds normal to me 🤷‍♀️

I hate the word arse. It sounds so ugly and crass to me. Bum and bottom are fine but arse gives me the absolute ick.

For me it's not so usual to use the word to talk about an actual vagina - it's just an insult. I mean, I'd never say, for example, "my fanny is cold" or whatever.

Eeew. Me too. I work with only females and they often refer to 'down there' as their fannies and I quietly shudder.

I assume you are taking fanny in the American meaning ass instead of the british one. I never think of fanny as ass and I dont think many people in the UK do either.

Fanny is very commonly used in Scotland and I have no problem with it.

@NoTouch no I'm not talking about the American use. I imagine a fat builder with a huge vagina whenever I hear the word fanny. It's the weirdest thing I know, but that's how much the word makes me cringe lol.

My DParents were invited to friends (living in America)daughters wedding , at the rehearsal dinner they were sat next to some.of the grooms family. A lady asked my dad if they'd been somewhere nice sightseeing. My dad gave list of what they'd done, including Niagra Falls.and how tired they were . Lady said 'oh when we went to Niagra falls my fanny was done in....off all the cycling's my dad literally choked on his dinner.
Fanny=bottom. Dad loved telling that story
