Fluffy socks and hot chocolate

Festive gripes....I like both...however it appears Christmas doesn't go ahead without them.
Christmas Eve boxes full of them, it's always the default suggestion 'cosy night with hot chocolate' .
It irritates me, feel free to tell me I'm grumpy

I like fluffy socks. Not a fan of hot chocolate. I'm not really sure why it should be irritating though. Warming things when the weather is cold - pretty normal.

Pinkpinkpink15 · 09/12/2023 22:49

You're grumpy

backtowinter · 09/12/2023 22:49

Console yourself that it could be worse

It could be hot choc. Pure smugness

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/12/2023 22:53

In or out of bed?

Can’t cope with socks in bed. Hot chocolate would be welcome though
(without marshmallows: the devil’s work)

LegoDeathTrap · 09/12/2023 22:54

Hate both.

Wooly socks and a cappuccino? Great. Fluffy polyester bags of sweat and artificial cooca flavour? 🤮🤮🤮

Oh yes even worse , it needs spilling down some matching flammable looking 'jarmies'

I would rather have mince pies and wine.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 09/12/2023 22:56

Don't forget 'Xmas PJ's.

But what about holibobos with the famfam and hashtag making memories??!!

TheIsleOfTheLost · 09/12/2023 23:00

Fluffy slippers over fluffy socks any day. Warmer and need more foot support to keep the plantar fasciitis at bay these days.

Mudflaps · 09/12/2023 23:01

Don't like hot chocolate unless I'm winter camping, then it's acceptable, same for fluffy socks actually but before menopause hit I loved them and had quite a collection. It's just marketing and I ignore most of it while being thankful I don't have young children expecting all the shite that is promoted as essential in the run up to Christmas now.

cocktailanddreams · 09/12/2023 23:01

Christmas brings out all of the worst annoyances.

OP posts:
ANightingale · 09/12/2023 23:02

Not for me - no fan of hot chocolate and rarely have cold feet so prefer to go barefoot even in winter.

LoreleiG · 09/12/2023 23:02

It annoys me too and I have no idea why.

Yes so much landfill shite.

I hate it too. It creates this "cozy night in" scenario, when in reality it takes about 10 mins to drink a hot chocolate. Then what? Sit back and admire your socks? 😄

43ontherocksporfavor · 09/12/2023 23:10

What @LegoDeathTrap said.

I believe that there must also be blankets and snuggling as well.

GrinchmasEve · 09/12/2023 23:14

I can’t buy into this Christmas Eve, cozy night in shite that has appeared in the last few years. It’s just another money spinner. Since when have Christmas Eve boxes been a thing?

I do enjoy hot chocolate and fluffy socks, but I’ll happily have them almost any day of the year. My Christmas Eve is fine as it is, thanks.

Yes so much landfill shite.

Socks and hot chocolate aren't really landfill shite though.

I don't think there's a rule that your cozy night in must involve only hot chocolate and fluffy socks. Additional forms of entertainment or relaxation are available. Obviously posting bollocks on social media about #cozynightin is cringe, but tbh I've just spent the evening knitting by the fire in front of a film, wearing homemade socks. I had tea rather than hot chocolate though - does that make it less infuriating, OP?

Yes definitely tea and homemade socks totally acceptable!

FaeWings · 09/12/2023 23:21

Some of us live in fluffy socks and drink hot chocolate year round but Christmas is the only time when it is socially acceptable to revel in such daft things!

Worse than that, I may also wear my fluffy Christmas pjs on and off throughout the year because they are my warmest most comfortable clothes

But I don't begrudge your grumpiness. It is ridiculous.

AutumnCrow · 09/12/2023 23:23

Lovely scarf lovely scarf

Whiskeypowers · 09/12/2023 23:26

Can’t stick either
more of a bare feet and gin & tonic sort myself
