To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

How is mc donalds noisy

Better warn some posters not to go to an EveryMan Cinema.

They bring you food , actual meals on a tray.
It's grand.

God I hate it 😂Not because of the smell, I don't mind that, but I always choose the end seats and the people in the middle of the row always seem to want enough food and drink to necessitate multiple trips by the staff...

I don't think someone sneaking in a McDonald's Happy Meal for their small child would be bothersome at all.

This, it is rude.

Do not assault other peoples senses in places that are not expected to have hot food and strong smells. It is not a restaurant.

Same as rude people on beaches and parks blaring music. Even in your own back yard if it happens a lot.

Same as dog shit everywhere or dogs everywhere.

Behave in public and do what you want at home.

Yes, hot food in a cinema is totally comparable to dogs pooing on the pavement.

Mmm might be pizza when I go to the cinema tomorrow. You guys given me the cravings.

OhpoorMe · 09/12/2023 16:37

There you go OP, we've escalated to assault 😂

LK2610 · 09/12/2023 16:38

Hot food, fine. Mc Donald’s - no, it stinks. It has a really strong, oniony smell. I hate it when people eat it on the train but at least you can get off. It’d be inconsiderate to everyone else to take it into a cinema.

Ortila · 09/12/2023 16:39

Oh my days.

Eating a burger in the cinema is really not the same as "dog shit everywhere".

🤣🤣🤣

Westillaremadeofgreed · 09/12/2023 16:39

At my local cinema chain they sell Chicago town pizzas in boxes, chicken nuggets & chips aswell as the usual hotdogs/nachos. I've never heard anyone moaning about the smell, what's the difference between smelling food in the cinema and in a restaurant? Some people are just very precious about things like this OP.
Get the maccies and enjoy. If anyone moans just offer them a nugget.

Megifer · 09/12/2023 16:40

No one will complain op. Its only on MN that McDonalds makes people retch/faint/actually die.

If it's not packed sit out of the way while you eat if it makes you feel a bit better.

Enjoy your evening!! ☺️

This thread is hilarious. If people don't enjoy the noise of people eating / rustling wrappers, or the smells of fast food such as hot dogs and burgers, then I genuinely don't think the cinema is the place for them. Probably best to stay home in the quiet without any offensive noises or smells and just watch a film by yourself. 🤷‍♀️

Toottooot · 09/12/2023 16:40

Canna dee at min.

Shodan · 09/12/2023 16:40

If we're talking about assaulting other peoples senses, then I'm voting to ban everyone who keeps their hand in the popcorn bucket, rustling it about in between shovelling handfuls in their mouth.

Oh and people who wear strong scents/aftershave that I don't like.

👊

Goldenbear · 09/12/2023 16:40

In our twenties and first dating DH and I took Gin and tonic cans and Jamaican Ginger cake warmed up in to the cinema but we did only live around the corner so microwaved it before we visited the cinema. I don't think the smell was that bad though as Ginger smell, certainly better than those hideous cheesy sauces nachos.

Hate that people now eat in cinemas and no longer go. The smells, the constant rustling, slurping through straws, the crunching of popcorn and so on.

Personally find it disgusting but the ticket prices alone don't enable cinemas to survive financially unfortunately

So, no - take an odour free sandwich or snacks if your child can't possibly survive 90 minutes without food.

Me too. If you’re ever in Edinburgh you should go to the picture house in the Scotsman hotel. 50 leather armchairs, they serve you a wee tub of mackies ice cream on the way in and people just bring down a drink from the bar. Classic films. There’s no trailers or rustling or chatting or children. It’s my happy place 😉

riotlady · 09/12/2023 16:41

I feel like people who think McDonald’s smells “rancid” need to recognise that unfortunately that’s them being more sensitive than the average, and it is a fairly normal thing for people to eat out and about.

It's the gherkins. They're desperate for getting on the x factor so they keep singing Kelly Clarkson songs. Then they shit on the floor and assault people.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 09/12/2023 16:42

Guess depends on the cinema and likeliness of getting caught. Cineworld know its a no for hot food except their own so guess if notice on way in then you have to eat it before? Assume they don't take it away..

Absolutely this

Sidebeforeself · 09/12/2023 16:45

You have a hangry four year old…is there no other non smelly food? You seem to think its fine so not sure why you asked

gotomomo · 09/12/2023 16:46

Please don't, the smell, rustling, no I don't like cinema sold food either!

TheCadoganArms · 09/12/2023 16:46

Ortila · 09/12/2023 16:33

Yup. And booze. Love it.

Sipping a glass of wine, eating popcorn or sweets does not affect other cinema goers. Bringing in hot food that smells is just inconsiderate, being sat next to someone as they forage for that last chip at the bottom of the carry out bag or listening to them suck the last few drops if coke through a straw or licking their fingers clean is just another unpleasent distraction away from the film.

Yes, my local Curzon sells all sorts of hot foods and delivers drinks to your seat. They take all the orders during the trailers and then the first 20 mins of the film is disrupted by staff walking in front of the screen and shuffling up the rows to deliver said orders. I have stopped going there as I just want to relax and watch the film without having to stand up every 5 mins. Have found another independent that allows you to bring drinks and popcorn in from the bar outside and that's it. It's lovely.

LlynTegid · 09/12/2023 16:46

Perhaps just eat something healthy instead. Or if you care so little about your DCs diet, do so before the film.

girlfriend44 · 09/12/2023 16:47

if you ran a business, would you like people bringing in their own food when you sold it?

Sidebeforeself · 09/12/2023 16:47

McDonald’s could be noisy. Depends what somebody is eating and how they eat it. Unwrapping the burger, scrabbling around the carton for the fries etc. Not saying OP would do that but can imagine some inconsiderate people wouldn’t think to eat it quietly.

Yeah OP give them a massive salad. That'll be a great Saturday night treat for them.
