To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

Is it? 😬 not any Cineworld I've been in. Breezed past the workers many a time with a Burger King bag, and our own sweets.

Picturing being "taken down" and having food "removed". You know by one of those bored teenage ticket bods.

Have seen it before. Though my local seems to bring out a lot of arguments thought mostly usually over unlimited cards...or lack of.

God this thread. How do people cope in life.

It's fine, it's a happy meal not a fistful of joints and a smoked fish.

100% this! My favourite is people upset at popcorn in the cinema as if it's a new concept 😂

Are people actually this precious in real life or just on mumsnet? Get a grip it's a happy meal!

It's really just on MN. In about 7 pages we'll have covered off how the smell once made someone go into labour, it cured someone of anosmia it was that strong, someone once ate a sesame seed from a big mac by accident and had d&v for 10 days and someone will link to that experiment where a dude left a mc ds for 40 years and it was still edible.

By page 10 neglect will be mentioned.

This is why I never go to the cinema anymore.

Same.

McDonald's 🤢. The smell must have been awful for the other people

This. It DOES smell and its not fair on others. Bring in snacks and have your macdonalds after.

I agree, I hate the smell of McDonalds but also hate the smell of onions in hot dogs which I think they often sell anyway. Nachos are fine.

Some of us loathe the smell of popcorn, nachos though, the smells make me heave which is one of the reasons I don't like going to the cinema any more.

WashItTomorrow · 09/12/2023 16:08

No way. I think that’s awful. I’ve never heard of people eating hot food at the cinema.

Really - you can buy a full menu of different meals in ours and you get a special tray to eat it from.

Hyperbole.

Must have been tricky for a long time. Popcorn etc.

sunglassesonthetable · 09/12/2023 17:14

Hyperbole

Too right there's hyperbole. What with people retching, fainting, heaving etc

Extrasprinklesplz · 09/12/2023 17:16

How could you be so greedy and inconsiderate? Have you considered someone there could be affected and possibly die due to the smell? So selfish. You personally are what's wrong with Britain today.

Of course I'm teeny tiny so a lettuce leaf is enough for me (plus no smell) add a slice of tomato if I'm starved, so I don't understand why somebody would neglect their child by feeding them such terrible food- may as well be coke and a shot of whisky!
I think I'm going to faint brb

sunglassesonthetable · 09/12/2023 17:16

I'm kind of relieved the Everymans are clearly signposted. Wouldn't want to be in there with the wrong crowd.

( retching, heaving,fainting etc )

WhatFlavourIsIt · 09/12/2023 17:16

In the real world, no problem. On mumsnet, it's akin to taking in a bag of dog shit. They'd be gagging and shaking all over the show

allmyliesaretrue · 09/12/2023 17:16

It's only McDonalds ffs!!

How do you cope in a restaurant???!

People have been eating and drinking in cinemas since time immemorial!!

TheCadoganArms · 09/12/2023 17:17

whatonearthisgoingonn · 09/12/2023 16:40

😂

This thread is hilarious. If people don't enjoy the noise of people eating / rustling wrappers, or the smells of fast food such as hot dogs and burgers, then I genuinely don't think the cinema is the place for them. Probably best to stay home in the quiet without any offensive noises or smells and just watch a film by yourself. 🤷‍♀️

Beyond popcorn, cinemas never used to double up as a place to eat a main meal, this phenomenon has been a semi recent trend. I have no issues with the noise of wrappers, smells, eating, slurping or rustling......when in a fast food restaurant, not in a room that is supposed quietish so you can enjoy whats on the big screen. I admit to struggling to understand why wanting a watch a film with few distractions is now considered unusual but I guess cinema etiquette has been declining for some time now.

LakeFlyPie · 09/12/2023 17:17

This is the reason I barely go to the cinema these days. A film lasts 2 hours tops, why can't people eat and drink before (or after) the film. Just sit and watch without rustling, slurping, crunching, munching and stinking out the place with junk food 😤

Not even cinema nachos and hot dogs?

I've never seen that, no. I don't think ours sells anything like that, just popcorn, drinks, and packaged snacks. I would just eat dinner before or after, I don't see the point of eating in the cinema in the dark, other than sharing a bag of minstrels or something. I'm trying to watch the film!

Christ people need to get a grip, it's a Happy Meal at an obvious childrens film, it's not Oppenheimer fgs! No one will care, enojoy your evening!

ReviewingTheSituation · 09/12/2023 17:21

Everyman cinemas serve hot food (burgers) to your seat, in the cinema. So hot food in the cinema is clearly a 'thing'. Probably doesn't smell quite as strongly as McD's, but not far off.

Small hangry child + a happy meal

Not an entire family McDs blow out.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 09/12/2023 17:22

Go for it. My local cinema has a food court and you can take what you want in with you from any of the outlets.
The other one close by serves Chicago town pizza along with their hotdogs etc.

You missed off "gobbling up"....gobbling must always be used when referring to Mc Ds
