To sneak McD's into the cinema

fr4zzledmum · 09/12/2023 16:03

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

😂😂 can't believe the people calling it vulgar. What a life you must lead.

Kbr22 · 12/12/2023 15:58

As long as you don’t take boiled eggs, no problem! Our local cinema sells burgers anyway.

Mazpaz · 12/12/2023 16:26

For goodness sake it’s a kids happy meal . If it keeps the child happy why not . Smell not as bad as hot dogs and Nachos

saffy2 · 12/12/2023 18:15

I’d just carry it in. No sneaking necessary. You’re allowed to take stuff in. We always take in sweets and popcorn.

Are you chomping, munching, rustling and stinking out the train? Are people dry heaving and throwing up?

If not, you've not got enough food!

I'm also hoping you've been on a Christmas drinks thing, you're slightly tipsy, stinking of alcohol and talking just a bit too loudly!

Please tell me I'm right!

OhpoorMe · 12/12/2023 20:54

chomping, munching, rustling and stinking out the train?

I'm rustling and eating as a normal human. The smell is probably available to others but smells delicious

Are people dry heaving and throwing up?

Can confirm no vomit and no side eye. In fact I'm not sure anyone's noticed.

Yes, yes, no, no. I'm alone so talking - even quietly - is really frowned upon Grin

NonPlayerCharacter · 12/12/2023 20:58

Shovelling. Don't forget shovelling. If the food isn't "healthy" then it's never eaten, it's shovelled.

You are my people! Nothing is as good as a maccas when inebriated.

With all due respect, I'm not the one claiming to actually vomit if I smell cooked cheese. It makes me wonder how you manage to do, well, anything. Presumably you can never go anywhere where someone might be eating hot food. I think I'd rather be a prat, to be honest...

Behindyouiam · 13/12/2023 09:46

@Bertiesmum3 committing at the smell of cheese is more about your mental intolerance than a physical reason.

It must be very debilitating, do you send people ahead to check out possible cheese smells. You know like miners used to send birds down the pit first, to check for fumes!

I’ve been like it since a very young age

SandandSky · 14/12/2023 22:29

Jeez, the smell 🤢🤢I hate when people do this, the train being the worst

Ineke · 15/12/2023 08:16

Just been in a cinema to see Saltburn.
Thank fully not a sound of a crisp bag or a morsel of food was eaten in the Auditorium and it was well attended. Very good atmosphere all round. Gold star cinema experience.

I imagine it wasn't full of 4 year olds either 🤔

I’ve done it and so do people at my local cinema all the time - it’s fine

Zone2NorthLondon · 23/05/2025 20:15

take McD into cinema don’t need to hide it or be secretive. Waft on in (literally)

Cel77 · 23/05/2025 21:50

I would hate to sit in a 5 m radius from you. The smell, the noises... That would completely ruin my outing.
Don't do it. Respect other people around you.

How do you manage regular life? Odour, rustling, noise in 5m proximity all spoiling your day
Do you exist in a hermetically sealed bubble hoping to not encounter vapour, noise, odour within 5m

You guys do realise that it's not the cinema staff who make the policies? When they're hired for the job they're told that they have to enforce the rules or they will receive disciplinary action - if they ignored this and didn't say anything when they saw a customer taking in hot food..........they'd get in a lot of trouble. If you disagree with the company policy on not allowing hot food (which is in the terms and conditions you agree to when you purchase the tickets - you HAVE to click "I accept the terms and conditions" to complete the purchase, you make the conscious decision to hold down the right-click button on your computer) then take it up with head office? Only they can change the policies, not the staff.
Also - if you guys all worked in a cinema, would you let customers take hot food in and risk getting in trouble or eventually losing your job? Or would you uphold the policy cause it's the only way you're gonna be able to put food on the table and pay your bills? Think about that one.
