To sneak McD's into the cinema

Going to a tea time showing tonight - McD's is right next door to the cinema so was just going to buy DC a Happy Meal and pop it in my bag to eat when we get in there.

Cheaper than a hot dog at the cinema. I don't think it's particularly a bother smell wise, as people have nachos and hot dogs etc.

AIBU?

I have a very hangry four year old.

Well give him a sandwich beforehand to tide him over.

You've evidently decided to take MDs in so why post?

momonpurpose · 09/12/2023 16:27

I think it's fine. Where I live our movie theaters sell meals like chicken tenders and burgers even a chicken ceaser salad

TheCadoganArms · 09/12/2023 16:27

SleepingStandingUp · 09/12/2023 16:25

But it's fine if she goes in and buys them all hotdogs bad nachos? What's the difference?

I hate it when people bring hot food they have bought at the cinema into the auditorium as well. Why is that people can't survive a few hours without eating??

Take them for tea afterwards then. I'm sure they won't starve if they wait.

They won't starve but who wants to sit through a movie hungry? It's meant to be fun, not penance.

What r u seeing Op?

We actually haven't gone yet - and thinking we'll probably just quickly eat in the car while the trailers are on, as I couldn't be arsed with someone complaining.

Better warn some posters not to go to an EveryMan Cinema.

They bring you food , actual meals on a tray.
It's grand.

GassyGirl · 09/12/2023 16:30

Go for it. Cinemas sell food and they sell a lot of it and most people I see watching the film are eating something. So my view is that most cinema-goers don't mind eating or being around people eating during the film. There'll always be a few people who will be annoyed no matter what you do. Live your life, enjoy your mcds.

I imagine a lot of cinemas wouldn't last if people didn't buy food there

No one is claiming they'll die if they don't eat, but eating snacks in a movie theatre is hardly some modern Gen Z trend is it? You talk like it's weird for people to do it

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 09/12/2023 16:31

Christ, it's a fucking Maccies!! Failing to see how it smells any worse than hot dogs and Nachos?
OP it's fine and I'd do the same if stretched for time.
There was once a feature on Shagged Married Annoyed about food in the cinema and apparently one listener witnessed a cinema goer eat a full Chinese meal.

Torganer · 09/12/2023 16:31

McDonalds really smells. I hate it when someone gets on the train with one, but then I’m only on the train for 10mins. Would hate it for 2+ hours.

misssunshine4040 · 09/12/2023 16:31

Those saying they can't understand why people can't go a couple of hours without are missing the point.

Lots of people enjoy eating nachos, popcorn or whatever when going to the cinema as it's part of the experience and socially acceptable to do so.

Ortila · 09/12/2023 16:31

Nobody will complain OP. People do this all the time.

Even the swooning Camilles on this thread wouldn't complain in an actual cinema if they were in one.

boamorte · 09/12/2023 16:32

The smell of McD's food is horrible

Exactly.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 09/12/2023 16:33

Noisy and smelly.

Don't sit next to me, please.

Yup. And booze. Love it.

I wouldn’t take something strongly smelling into the cinema, no.

This, it is rude.

Do not assault other peoples senses in places that are not expected to have hot food and strong smells. It is not a restaurant.

Same as rude people on beaches and parks blaring music. Even in your own back yard if it happens a lot.

Same as dog shit everywhere or dogs everywhere.

Behave in public and do what you want at home.

No, they don’t. I’ve never come across it.

Shithole101 · 09/12/2023 16:34

Vue allows you to take your own stuff. Not sure about other cinemas. Remember being a kid sneaking food /sweets in 😅

Yes but hot food is different, it fills a room. Popcorn doesn’t

Yes, I was thinking of that but about 3 times the price of a McD's meal!

Bobsyouraunty · 09/12/2023 16:36

Go for it op! People who don’t like it will live

dooneyousmugelf · 09/12/2023 16:36

It's normal and permitted. People who don't like the smell of food probably avoid cinemas 😂

sunglassesonthetable · 09/12/2023 16:36

Most food cost more than a McDs meal. 😄
