Milkshake story den.

Why are we reading books about pride, gender and drag to pre-school children.

I would check with MNHQ by email OP and find out why your posts are deleted. Maybe they can edit out a word if it is problematic rather than deleting the post entirely.

Ok thanks.

How do I see what I said in the deleted posts?

Report your post so MNHQ sees it and ask why - because at the moment, it seems they are playing into the hands of someone who is desperately trying to get “evidence” of transphobia. That poster is now able to crow about your posts needing to be deleted for being transphobic (when no one can see what they said).

And why are lesbians being dragged into it? The right of lgbtqia to exist? The trans lobby is as bad if not worse than the church and conservative groups now for telling lesbians that we don’t have a right to exist in our sexuality- as women who only find actual biological women’s bodies attractive… apparently it’s transphobia for me to say I don’t find a dick attractive even if the person with it says they are female.

@grandadspride clearly that is utterly inappropriate. Teaching children that families come in all shapes and sizes and that’s good, and that they can love who they want, are messages of acceptance (we are not an ill to be ‘tolerated’)- pictures of adults in fetish wear in a child’s book is gross.

Edited

I don't think anyone said it's transphobic not to find male sexual organs attractive.

ArthurbellaScott · 01/12/2023 11:04

The book has more than one 'pansexual' flag in it, btw. Here's one, in the window.

Ah, yes, 'it's biology', that old line trundled out when people often have little understanding of biology when it comes to complex issues like sexual development.

Slightly offtopic but ... Mammalian reproductive biology is pretty much binary and no, you can't change sex.

Large gametes, small gametes. No-one can produce both. Bodies start genetically different and develop physically along two different pathways, with two different reproductive systems and genitalia and also other physical effects such as size and musculature. Very rarely a pathway gets blocked, or a non functioning vestige of the other reproductive system grows in place.

Monkeying around with healthy people's sex hormones and with surgery messes up their reproductive organs and makes them non-existent or non-functional. It messes up people's physical health too. But it doesn't change people's sex. It doesn't change their genotype, and it only changes a few cosmetic aspects of their sexed phenotype. It doesn't create an overall body structure like the opposite sex, hardly even visually and certainly not functionally. No-one gets a functioning reproductive system of the other sex. The chances of even getting a halfway usable set of genitalia are not that brilliant, never mind genitalia that are functionally anything like those of the other sex.

Wishful thinking changes none of that. You can't change sex. If you think you can then you have been massively mis-sold. Sorry!

TheKeatingFive · 01/12/2023 11:04

The only thing that will never be accepted in regards to sexual orientation is Paedophilia (well i damn well fkg hope not.)

I think this might be a naive view. There's lots of nasty shift that i doubt you want to tolerate.

MN have deleted more than one transphobic post, not just from OP (and so not just reported by me either).

I didn't say you could change sex.

How do you know?

The post was there, it now says 'deleted my MN' and is greyed out - someone must have reported it or MN are watching the thread. I know I didn't report that post.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 01/12/2023 11:06

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:05

I didn't say you could change sex.

But you claimed that we don't understand biology. We do.

DejaVoodoo · 01/12/2023 11:06

The “MAP” sandwiched between a child and a Polaroid camera is absolutely shocking! I’m so glad my children are older. I do worry for my (as yet unborn) grandchildren though.

Also, in the picture of the author there is another of their books called “Grandad’s Camper” in the background. This made me laugh.

Bobsboob · 01/12/2023 11:07

Also, as my wife just pointed out- most gay men don’t go about in fetish gear, they wear jumpers like everyone else! Why the need to sexualise ‘gay’? Especially in a kids book.

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 11:07

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:01

OP is telling them they don't exist as they see themselves - the post where she expressed this is gone now though (deleted by MN).

Trans people are not like Tinkerbell, people like the op recognising reality over their beliefs doesn’t ‘cease their existence’ doesn’t make them disappear. They will still believe they’re a different gender to their biological sex but that doesn’t mean everyone has to accept gender beliefs as a scientific reality. People can ‘see’ themselves however they want, but if that wholly hangs on other people validating how they’re seen then unfortunately life is going to be difficult.

You cannot expect the whole human race to suddenly play a very big game of Emperors New Clothes to spare feelings.

HiddenLegoOuch · 01/12/2023 11:07

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:03

I don't think anyone said it's transphobic not to find male sexual organs attractive.

Think again - according to Stonewall, Mermaids…

Rejecting males who consider themselves lesbians is considered bigoted, transphobic and discriminatory.

Genital preferences are transphobic.

Also - have a look at the “cotton ceiling” - it is VERY eye opening and so horrific.

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:08

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 10:53

Of course it’s blatant to you. It’s disagreeing with your ideology which you believe deeply in to the point of refusing to recognise facts. It’s like when someone compares believing in god to ‘adult version of Santa’ - it’s very offensive to those with religion, blasphemy even, but it still doesn’t make god real beyond their personal beliefs. Just like your beliefs do not become reality just because your really really want them to be true.

I could say the same to you?

Helleofabore · 01/12/2023 11:08

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:00

I don't even buy into moral high ground being a thing - we all have different views, however some of the OPs comments (which have now been deleted) were definitely transphobic!

As for different sexes, and the concept of gender, I don't disagree with what you have written, however it is also true that understanding isn't really 'complete' in terms of how the sexual organs and 'brain' aspect of sexuality/gender develop.

I do have issue with the images in this book, but not with the existence of trans people per se. OP clearly stated she has both - she is allowed to express that view, but others are allowed to challenge it.

Please show us where it is incomplete where medical science does not yet understand the development paths of sex organs in humans.

And you are now trying to leverage brain sex into the argument. No. YOU wish to believe those who are seeking to create an ambiguity around well established areas of study. Yes. Brains are affected by sex based hormones and interests. However, not one study has been able to prove that any human has a brain that is ‘male’ or ‘female’. If there was, they’d be using it for diagnosis for gender dysphoria.

You seem to be trying to convince others based on pseudoscience theory and misinformation. I would advise you to stop doing that unless you have evidence to prove your claims.

Instead you are here shaming posters discussing the issues with that book. A book even you acknowledge has safeguarding issues around the boundaries needed for children.

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 11:08

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:05

I didn't say you could change sex.

What do you believe being a different gender is then? What exactly in brain development makes you not the biological male or female you were born?

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 11:09

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 11:08

I could say the same to you?

How so? Have we not been clear about the distinction between having a belief and an absolute fact yet?

HiddenLegoOuch · 01/12/2023 11:09

I’ve started a count down for the shunting to the naughty corner. I’m surprised the thread has lasted this long in AIBU!

Petitedress · 01/12/2023 11:09

Did the publisher remove the leather bondage picture or did they just not show it on TV? I noticed a lot of trans references and not many about homosexuality.

I meant anyone on this thread, as I thought that was being referred to.

I definitely think there are many complex issues around the concept of being trans, but ultimately we all reject people we don't find attractive, based on a whole host of things.

You've been clear about your opinion, yes.

TheKeatingFive · 01/12/2023 11:12

You've been clear about your opinion, yes.

The binary and immutable nature of sex is a biological fact. Not an opinion.

FelineGood76 · 01/12/2023 10:31

Are there actually people here defending this shit? This world is well and truly fucked. Seriously, if you think this is OK you are either quite dim or are so far down the gender rabbit hole you have lost your mind. We need to ask why this is being pushed so hard to children, and by whom.

There really really are. Including friends of mine on fb. I just wanna give up sometimes
