Milkshake story den.

Why are we reading books about pride, gender and drag to pre-school children.

It's on channel 5 +1 now...I'm watching.

I’ll ask again: where on this thread is the (apparently “blatant”) unlawful transphobia?

As you are seemingly unable to provide a single example, it rather seems that there isn’t any, and that you (ironically) are the one with “reader bias”.

Are you missing the part where I have referred to all of OP's posts?

Never mind, I will leave it there, clearly it's still ok to be blatantly transphobic in some parts of the world.

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 10:12

grandadspride · 01/12/2023 10:06

I can assure you I'm not phobic of transpeople.

I don't believe humans, or indeed any other mammal, can change their sex.

I find it deeply sad that anyone would actually want to. I also believe the gender/sex change/alignment surgeries are making money from vulnerable people. Just look at Jazz Jennings.

Absolutely. It’s shocking how TRAs still cannot correlate how many young trans people are either autistic or have had traumatic childhoods leading to seeking to ‘escape’ the bodies they hate. They cannot see how the medical profession cannot and never have been able to deal with mental health issues and are seeing the gender movement as an easy cop out in ‘helping’, pushed by the ‘be kind’ brigade. The fallout in a few years will be horrendous - the only hope I have is that when detransitioners see exactly how taken advantage of they were in their most vulnerable moments, they sue everyone involved to the ends of the earth. Detransitioners stories are some of the most heartbreaking I’ve read.

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 10:04

Nope, I just ask that people stop being transphobic.

Yes, there are issues with that book, yes there are issues with female only spaces, but being trans itself isn't something to be phobic about or unaccepting of.

But it's your opinion that the OP has been transphobic. She stated that trans men are men - this is biological truth.

sollenwir you have been asked several times to explain what the OP has said that's 'transphobic'. Yet you seem unable to do so.

heathspeedwell · 01/12/2023 10:13

The whole reason that we have safeguarding and DBS checks and single sex spaces etc is because some men are incredibly dodgy and will go to great lengths to access children and groom them.

In my opinion this book was created to help blur boundaries and make it easier for children to be encouraged to think that sexualised adult behaviour around children is acceptable. It isn't.

TerfTalking · 01/12/2023 10:13

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 10:07

Ah, yes, 'it's biology', that old line trundled out when people often have little understanding of biology when it comes to complex issues like sexual development.

You have been well and truly captured haven't you? 😁

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 10:13

Nonoatchristmas · 01/12/2023 10:06

Why do you believe that stating facts is transphobic? You do understand the difference between actual transphobia and ‘I don’t like what you said’ right?

Yes, do you?

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 10:14

TerfTalking · 01/12/2023 10:13

Using language like that tells me all I need to know.
If I don't see any reason to be anti trans then sure, I'm 'captured'.

@sollenwir has presented a highly persuasive argument which can be summarised as “bias bias bias, transphobia transphobia transphobia, all of OPs posts, all of them!!”

Hope that helps.

The word MAP with a child tugging a rainbow seems entirely consistent with that view.

CountryStore · 01/12/2023 09:39

I don't really know how anyone could look at th illustrations of the man in bdsm leather gear and think it was OK for children??
We (society) used to know this didn't we? What has changed and why?
There is no reason that would benefit any child.
The only possible people who will benefit from the breaking down of such boundaries are people with sexual interest in children. This is very worrying indeed. And it's being normalised on channel 5's preschool programming!
WTAF?!

It isn’t just on preschool programming, though. It has won awards, and is in many public and school libraries.

Just wanted to also add that the book was altered for different countries - this version left off a “furry” tattoo…. Also, the “love is love” slogan is in reference to MAP (minor attracted persons 🤮 = paedophiles).

ArthurbellaScott · 01/12/2023 10:16

Anyway. OP you are quite correct, fetish gear and BDSM is not appropriate for children.

As PPs have said, this could have been a lovely book by the sound of it - the story is as far as I can tell very sweet. It's the illustrations that are the problem.

jemenfous37 · 01/12/2023 10:17

@grandadspride A double mastectomy scar is the experience of many people who have had breast cancer.

Get your facts straight

Thanks. It's still unclear!

sollenwire, have you considered that the 'transphobia' is in your perception and understanding, rather than in posts that you claim are 'blatant' but can't explain why?

They tried to slip the illustrations under the radar didn't they.

Insidious

You'll see I've addressed this.

Do you think that's what's being depicted in this book though? I do not.

sollenwir · 01/12/2023 10:13

Yes, do you?

Absolutely. Facts are not transphobic, they are simply facts. You can not like these facts but human belief systems will not stop them being true.

If you want me to simplify it for you, there’s an easy distinction to separating fact from belief. If the human race disappeared tomorrow, would the thing you truly believed in still exist? Whether it be God, gender or thinking the Earth is flat - all these beliefs would cease to be if there were no people around to validate them. But the reality of biology would carry on, the world would continue to be round and there’s no magic guy in the sky caring about what the creatures of the world are getting on with.

People are entitled to their belief systems. They’re not entitled to think everyone else has to partake in them, including you.

Worldgonecrazy · 01/12/2023 09:23

This is why it is inappropriate for kids!

I think the picture you shared of the two men kissing is a photoshopped image.

I just checked the Amazon listing and while it definitely does show the man in bondage gear, they aren't kissing. I think this is the problem with debates like this and why they get nowhere and we all become polarised

grandadspride · 01/12/2023 10:19

No one's worried about two guys kissing.

It's the bondage gear that's the issue.

I agree with you OP. I’ve just looked at the book on YouTube where the author reads it. Very disturbing for a book aimed at kids to be talking about gender and drag. As for the pictures, absolute sickos putting those in a book apparently for kids. I’m going to complain to the channel now.

I've complained to OFCOM just hope they get fined

In other words, ‘shit, why aren’t they just bowing and cowering and apologising for everything they said - that’s what they are supposed to do when the transphobic and bigot name calling starts. And who do they think they are anyway, demanding evidence and explanations?!?!?!’
