Hi, so I bought a pair of (expensive) trainers on Vinted on Friday (5 days ago) for a birthday present for my sons girlfriend (birthdays this Friday).

before I bought them, I messaged the lady selling them and asked if she would be able to send them in a timely manner as they were needed for a birthday present. She’s said yes.

firstly said she would send them over the weekend. She didn’t. Then said Monday (yesterday) evening after work… again she didn’t send them. Then last night she said she would send them this morning. Nearly 11am and still nothing!!!

AIBU to be annoyed? I specifically messaged her before purchasing to make sure she was able to send them quick enough to be received by this Friday. If she had said no, I would have bought them from somewhere else! I am really annoyed that at this rate I won’t have anything to give teenager on their birthday and they cost a lot of money. 😢

They might still come in time and although not the point a teenager can wait a extra day or so.

Proudfootballmum · 28/11/2023 10:47

It’s for sons girlfriend. I won’t see her for another week after her birthday 😢

They do have 5 days to send normally but if you specifically checked and she has made reassurances she has not stuck to, I’d cancel the sale and get them elsewhere

Proudfootballmum · 28/11/2023 10:48

Thanks I may have to. But it will take a good few days for them to refund my money. Bloody nightmare

I get why you are annoyed but even if she had posted them quickly, there would be no guarantee that they would arrive on time. Some postage options on Vinted can be really slow/they can lose items.

All you can do us leave a bad rating for her explaining that she ked you on with hiw quickly they would be posted or buy something else (and of she does eventually send the items not collect do they get sent back to her).

LittleBlueUnicorn · 28/11/2023 10:51

I would never buy something off vinted if I needed it quickly as the people on there ime take ages to post anything out! Rubbish that she said she would though

Proudfootballmum · 28/11/2023 10:53

I’ve always sent within 48 hours, I don’t know how people can keep someone hanging on 5 days later when they agreed to send over the weekend. I thought a week would be sufficient tbh 😢

RudsyFarmer · 28/11/2023 10:58

My assumption would be she’s scammed you and these trainers will never appear.

CosyKnits · 28/11/2023 11:06

It's annoying but that's the risk when you buy from individuals on sites like Vinted. I recently took a few days to send off some Vinted purchases because DC was ill and DH was away, so I couldn't get out to post. I did let the buyers know and they were very nice about it.

If you can get them quicker elsewhere, cancel the purchase.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/11/2023 11:08

I usually post things within the timeline it gives you- I think it's four days but if you had specifically asked I would've sent it sooner. I thought the order got cancelled if not in the timeframe. I'm annoyed atm as I accepted someone's offer a week ago and they've disappeared!

I'm not sure if that would work as a seller on Vinted, the sale is automatically cancelled and the buyer refunded if the item isn't sent after a certain amount of time (I had that happen to me once when I bought something and the seller just never sent it)

Lifesapurpledream · 28/11/2023 11:12

I think if you’d checked pre-purchase and they’d said they’d post them quickly then it’s fair to be annoyed. Especially if they were expensive.

I had a buyer make a purchase and then message to say to post ASAP as she needed them in 3 days so I just cancelled the sale - was only £4 for brand new shoes and couldn’t be bothered with the agro. No way I could guarantee courier speed.

Geneve82 · 28/11/2023 11:12

did you select first or second class?

bananaxapple · 28/11/2023 11:20

I think you’re being slightly unreasonable. Stories this like are notorious on facebook/reddit, buyers wanting their items by a set time and sellers falling through and not meeting this. This isn’t amazon, these are people with normal lives and different schedules. I think if you really wanted that guarantee for them to arrive on time, you should have got them elsewhere. Assuming you tried to get a small discount on them, then that is on you entirely.

amylou8 · 28/11/2023 11:22

Vinteds rules are 5 working days, so a clear week by the time you've factored in the weekend. I post pretty much everything within 24 hours, but was away at the weekend. I posted on Friday morning and then not again until Monday afternoon. I considered this to be a timely manner, even though it's slower than I would normally. Maybe you should have asked if if she could post straight away/Same day/next day before you bought them if that's what you needed.

MaryMary6589 · 28/11/2023 11:22

The lockers near me are always full so sometimes it takes a few days of me trying to actually be able to post things when there's space.

Poppyseed14 · 28/11/2023 11:23

Geneve82 · 28/11/2023 11:12

did you select first or second class?

That's not applicable on vinted.

To be fair .. I send within 48 hours. I agree with you op. I’d leave a poor review if you aren’t too happy as well as cancel the order .

I put on a brand new pair of vans size 4 on Vinted for sale yesterday if that helps in any way at all….

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 28/11/2023 11:28

You can be annoyed or just put it down to one of the down sides of deliveries in general at the moment. Just explain to her that her present will be slightly late due to delivery,it's not the end of the world.

I'm waiting on a perfume delivery from The Perfume Store, it's two weeks late and I need it by Friday , not holding my breath tbh!

When you give feedback you can express your annoyance with poor communication.

TurningtheLightOff · 28/11/2023 11:34

A bit daft to expect that sort of turnaround on Vinted tbh. I post within 24 hours usually but the couriers can take up to two weeks. I have an item I sold currently stuck in transit and very near the date Vinted will have to reimburse us both.

You buy on there for cheapness, not for speed.

StardustGiraffe · 28/11/2023 11:36

Ah I have to admit I'm not the quickest poster on Vinted. I work FT and have a 14 month old, sometimes it takes a few days before I get a chance to post, especially if buyers have selected an option where I have to actually print a label, which relies on my DP doing it for me while he's in the office.

I do agree she was out of order not to post though when you especially requested it quickly. I would always make an effort where someone has asked specifically.

Sunshineandflipflops · 28/11/2023 11:42

I would be annoyed too if you had specifically asked about quick postage before you bought. Have you messaged her to remind her of what she said?

I bought some trainers from Vinted on saturday evening and they arrived at the locker yesterday early hours - I was amazed!

I always post the same day or next day when I sell something. There are so many options and so many places to leave parcels now that I don't think it's that difficult.

CremeEggSupremacy · 28/11/2023 11:43

YANBU because you asked in advance. If she couldn't do it she should've just said no. I'd cancel.

nutsnutspistachionuts · 28/11/2023 11:47

It's five working days, of which it has been 2 (unless you bought Friday night, in which case, 1) and she is not a shop.

Once she's posted they're then in the hands of Evri/Yodel/InPost anyway so no guarantee they arrive quickly!

Cheeseywheel · 28/11/2023 11:48

Terrible show from her. I hate the vinted rating system.. if you now give her a poor review she can give you one back. It would be better if you could only review sellers.
