Hi, so I bought a pair of (expensive) trainers on Vinted on Friday (5 days ago) for a birthday present for my sons girlfriend (birthdays this Friday).

before I bought them, I messaged the lady selling them and asked if she would be able to send them in a timely manner as they were needed for a birthday present. She’s said yes.

firstly said she would send them over the weekend. She didn’t. Then said Monday (yesterday) evening after work… again she didn’t send them. Then last night she said she would send them this morning. Nearly 11am and still nothing!!!

AIBU to be annoyed? I specifically messaged her before purchasing to make sure she was able to send them quick enough to be received by this Friday. If she had said no, I would have bought them from somewhere else! I am really annoyed that at this rate I won’t have anything to give teenager on their birthday and they cost a lot of money. 😢

People are really slack posting things. I think 1-2 working days is about right to post things generally. But clearly if someone asks BEFORE buying you need to stick to your word.

Your preference might be for 1-2 working days but Vinted give the seller 5 and cancel the sale if they don't meet that deadline. Nothing slack about that. You can't just invent new terms and conditions on their behalf!

A bit daft to expect that sort of turnaround on Vinted tbh. I post within 24 hours usually but the couriers can take up to two weeks. I have an item I sold currently stuck in transit and very near the date Vinted will have to reimburse us both.

You buy on there for cheapness, not for speed.

Except OP specifically asked. To ask is not at all unreasonable. The seller should not have agreed.

Getting stuck with couriers is out of the seller's hands and this would the case for any retailer using a courier.

I said “about right” not that it’s strictly necessary. The 5 days is the max not necessarily optimal.

I sell a lot on vinted and try to get it sent quickly but often the Evri shop has a broken printer or they won't take any more parcels that day etc etc so I would never buy anything on vinted without leaving plenty of time in case of this happening. That being said, if a buyer asked this question I would advise them of this and then it would be up to them whether to risk it or not.

I voted YABU I'm afraid because if you buy something from vinted, the terms are that they have 5 working days to send and then who knows how long the courier takes! Unfortunately if you want the good deals, it is sometimes at the risk of a longer delivery time.

BigButtons · 28/11/2023 14:19

the whole site is rubbish. I had an item not turn up and filled in a very laborious form. Everi claimed they had delivered ,which they hadn't so vinted said the case was closed. I asked about buyer protection, which we all have to pay for and I heard nothing more from them. Would never buy through them again.

EvieSchnoz · 28/11/2023 14:20

The seller gets 10 days max; 5 days to download the label, another 5 days to send the item.

Retrogamer · 28/11/2023 14:30

I would cancel the order. While waiting for a refund, I would try to.fimd something else online that takes klarna so you can pay it off when you get refunded

BIossomtoes · 28/11/2023 14:39

It’s only Tuesday, they could easily turn up on or before Friday.

tommika · 28/11/2023 14:47

Some people don’t seem to be reading.

The OP is not unreasonable to be annoyed, it is a matter of dealing with individuals and there can be many things that affect & delay sending, and once sent delivery times are out of the sellers control …….

Terms under Vinted have an allowance of a period of time to send the item, but they communicated and agreed to send over the weekend giving 4 to 5 working days for the package in transit though couriers may also be collecting & delivering through the weekend.
It’s now 4 days / 2 working days later with no sign of it even being sent

WillimNot · 28/11/2023 14:52

Vinted is getting useless.

A year ago I used it all the time, people on there were great, customer service also good when one item disappeared

Now? It's turned into eBay version 2. Scammers, fakers and time wasters on an industrial level. Customer service don't care and make it impossible to get your money back. Vendors using companies who are beyond crap. InPost, what a bunch of jokers, we had bought my DD a sweatshirt, it was out for delivery and back to the sorting office 8 times before we received it 3 weeks after purchase. We've also had Vinted ignore their own rules which they've quoted to you- one guy took over the 5 day threshold to send. When he finally did, after a fortnight, in which time I tried to get a refund, the item I bought turned up with most of it missing, which he denied. I gave him foul feedback, he gave me fake feedback, about how I was scamming him and a thief, his was allowed to stay, mine was removed. Vinted told me he had not done anything wrong as sellers have 5 days to send, I pointed out two weeks wasn't within that threshold and got a message back in French.

I very rarely use it now as it's just a joke. Another great site ruined by thieves.

Ihateboris · 28/11/2023 14:55

YANBU. I've just had the exact same issue with Ebay. Needed some shoes for a specific date and was assured that they'd be posted in a timely manner. I still haven't received them and I needed them LAST FRIDAY. They've not even been dispatched yet. I'm so angry as she's received the money and now I don't need the shoes as I had to go to an actual shop to buy some..arghhh

dressedforcomfort · 28/11/2023 14:57

The lockers near me are always full so sometimes it takes a few days of me trying to actually be able to post things when there's space.

This is a problem near me too. It's the main reason I won't use Inpost anymore. EVRI is easier for parcel dispatch IMO. What carrier were you using for this transaction, OP?

(Of course it could just be that the seller hasn't bothered....)

NonPlayerCharacter · 28/11/2023 14:59

Perhaps Vinted should have a system whereby you can't list things over a certain price until you have X amount of positive feedback?

I've been lucky with Vinted thus far but I've heard a lot from people who haven't been.

dressedforcomfort · 28/11/2023 15:00

Really? I must have been lucky. Been buying off there for a good 18 months and never had a bad experience. Literally just collected a Vinted parcel from EVRI, (jigsaw for my son for Christmas) and it's in immaculate condition.

I had hell over an item yodel delivered... they kept showing a picture of it 'delivered' but it wasn't my house (or even any house on my street). I did eventually get a refund but it was a massive PITA.

I hope the seller also got paid too as it was not her fault and thats what 'buyer protection' should be for.

I however have never had any issue with the EVRI click and collect option (and used it hundreds of times) only ever the 'deliver to door' option.

Proudfootballmum · 28/11/2023 19:41

I did? I said that on the post? I confirmed with her that she could post over the weekend before paying for them

OP posts:
Proudfootballmum · 28/11/2023 19:43

I think you’re misunderstanding… she hasn’t even sent them yet and it’s been 5 days and I checked with her first that she’d be able to send them by a certain day as they are a birthday present

op

did you pay for first or second class option from seller?

DejaVoodoo · 28/11/2023 20:00

Are you sure she hasn't sent them?
A few times I've had messages from sellers saying my items have been posted, they've shown photos of the receipt, but for some reason the status wasn't updating on the site.
You should contact her and ask what's happening.

But, of course, if she told you she'd post it quickly but didn't then YANBU for being annoyed.

1st/2nd/courier priority levels are irrelevant if something hasn’t been sent

but if royal mail… it doesn’t automatically update that been sent.

exactly
you have to manually upload if you send by royal mail

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 28/11/2023 20:28

That's shit, op. Have you heard anything?

LookItsMeAgain · 29/11/2023 08:40

I've had an update from one of the sellers that I was in contact with on Vinted. They've had the item I wanted to buy up for sale for over a year and it hasn't sold up to now. I put in an offer and asked if payment could be made through an alternative method like Paypal or Revolut but they have declined my offer.
So their item will remain unsold for longer.

(reminder the reason I was asking about paying through an alternative method is because Vinted doesn't operate in the Rep of Ireland).

Is that weird?

Geneve82 · 29/11/2023 08:44

LookItsMeAgain · 28/11/2023 11:54

I'll join you on being annoyed at Vinted as I've seen a pair of shoes that I really want but because I'm in the Rep of Ireland, the sellers can't sell to me. I might try to see if I can buy them from them in a private sale but because Vinted doesn't operate in Rep of Ireland, I can't select the country I'm actually in and I can't shop from it!

I mean if I was in Lithuania I could shop and get stuff delivered to me but not Ireland. CRAZY!!!

bit confused

can you not buy anything from vinted? if so, why join?
