7 dogs in Starbucks today is too much

I turned around and walked out again, don’t get me started on dogs sniffing cups and plates of food whilst sat next to the owners.
What is the solution ?
Can’t dogs be left anymore?
AIBU to think dog separation cannot be so painful that dogs have to go everywhere!

Lots of dogs out shopping with their owners today. It was so busy, plus cold, felt quite cruel tbh

Congrats, you've managed to do the bare minimum and train your dog. Still unhygienic. If you can't organise yourself, that's nobody else's problem. "It's not illegal" is not an excuse for shitty behaviour.

But how is it more unhygienic than say, a toddler crawling on the floor then putting is hands on the table, or xmas crackers etc, or someone sneezing/coughing and not properly covering their face? It isn’t, provided a dog has no contact with food, or with crockery, and the waitstaff don’t pet her ( which is their mistake if they do). So again, you’re just looking for a reason to be miserable and your arguments don’t stand up to logic.

I can only conclude you are a sad, bitter person who wants to ruin the enjoyment of others 😂

Coco1379 · 25/11/2023 20:51

Surely it breaches Health and Safety regulations for dogs to be in a shop serving food? (Unless they are Guide Dogs)

Meowandthen · 25/11/2023 20:51

Begsthequestion · 25/11/2023 20:48

Interesting response.

Very glad most dog owners are a lot more rational than you.

I don’t have dogs. Unlike you I am just not full of hatred.

How ironic. Comparing animals to humans is just stupid.

Sadly no - they cannot be in the food preparation area though.

Alargeoneplease89 · 25/11/2023 20:52

When I did it become a thing that dogs go everywhere? Going to start dragging my housecat everywhere because he's cute and everyone else should know it too 😅😂

jemenfous37 · 25/11/2023 20:53

Yet toddlers and kids clearly still in nappies are plonked into shopping trollies - not on the dedicated seat, actually in the basket bit.. isn't that rather disgusting and unhygienic?

Stressedafff · 25/11/2023 20:53

If I had a £ for everytime someone mentioned kids and dogs in the same argument I’d likely have enough money to move to my own island away from dogs. Shame I can’t

On what basis? You said “unhygienic “ I gave a load of examples about other things that are common and represent an greater risk. If you can’t actually make a logical argument then maybe just go to bed.

Standproperly · 25/11/2023 18:49

Another miserable dog hater. This has been done to death on MN

They are not dog haters; they just don’t want to share their eating/drinking places with dogs. Most dogs smell, they’re not always well behaved and some people are allergic to them. I like dogs but I don’t want them around me when I’m in a cafe.

kitsuneghost · 25/11/2023 20:54

Northsideoftheriver · 25/11/2023 20:46

I don't have a problem with it. I like dogs. Then again I've only seen well behaved ones in cafes. They tend to lie under the table or just sit next to their owner. I'm yet to see one drag it's arse along the floor, growl, steal food, bark incessantly, vomit, do death farts or hump things.

I had one near me that was shaking itself every few minutes. The smell was bad every time so have no idea what it was shaking off that caused such a smell. I know, however I don't want it in my food or coffee.

I’ve decided you aren’t bring hot enough to bother with frankly.

edit, sorry, this was in reply to @lostonmars

Skodacool · 25/11/2023 20:56

FlissyPaps · 25/11/2023 18:51

If you don’t like dogs or dogs being inside cafes then just leave and go somewhere else. It’s not really an issue.

Why should I! Dogs should not be allowed in eating places or food shops.

Humans can wash themselves, dogs, by the smell of them, don't. Get a pet sitter. Nobody else's problem.

Hmm. Just full of misconceptions instead.

Dunnoburt · 25/11/2023 20:56

Yuck.

RudsyFarmer · 25/11/2023 20:56

Most people don’t object to one dog, the problem is it’s no longer one dog. It’s seven dogs in a cafe. Twenty seven dogs in the park you want to take your kids to. Five dogs outside the school gate. Dog shit overflowing bins. Dog shit along local nature walks. Dogs at the beach. Dogs in shops. Stop with the fucking dogs everywhere. I blame covid. Everybody lost their collective minds.

Whatsmynameagain9 · 25/11/2023 20:57

Dogs and self service tills are in the same bucket for me.

Dog blocking my way for exiting Superdrug today. The customer at the next till completely oblivious to her large breed dog on a metre long lead. She is turned away from us talking to the cashier. What does she expect the dog is doing behind her, not a clue. It's extended fork her as far away as it can of course, investigating its surroundings. Don't mind me. I'm just buying some shampoo. Why should I have to.say excuse me to a sodding dog now. Owners have some awareness please if you going to impose your pets on everyone.

Are you drunk? Or does hatred make you illiterate? 🤔

Yet again, not a reasoned response to the agreement made just more vitriol.

Elphame · 25/11/2023 20:58

It is literally only Wetherspoons that don't allow dogs. And it's grim in there.

I had to laugh at that! All the best places allow dogs!

Mine are both well cafe trained. They lie under the table and you really wouldn’t know they are there.

Skodacool · 25/11/2023 20:58

WillowCraft · 25/11/2023 18:51

No dogs in places where food is sold should be the rule. Unless sitting outside

I said in the edit I quoted the wrong post. @lostonmars doesn’t know what irony means
