7 dogs in Starbucks today is too much

I turned around and walked out again, don’t get me started on dogs sniffing cups and plates of food whilst sat next to the owners.
What is the solution ?
Can’t dogs be left anymore?
AIBU to think dog separation cannot be so painful that dogs have to go everywhere!

The poll echoes the dog households/non dog households. The third of the population owning dogs will mostly take them to some public places.

Even dog owners agree that some other owners are inconsiderate though.

Bolloxforsure · 25/11/2023 20:32

Show the poll to the dog friendly coffee shops next time you want to go in. That’ll surely change their minds.

Yes! Good idea! Might get them thinking twice

Stressedafff · 25/11/2023 20:35

Some of you must forget you were once children.

Hating kids: Perfectly fine
Disliking dogs: evil, psycho tendencies, selfish

Make it make fucking sense

WearyAuldWumman · 25/11/2023 20:35

My regular restaurant/pub only allows dogs into one particular section. IMO, that works well. (I'm not a dog owner.)

Curfewgull1 · 25/11/2023 20:35

I’ve been in so many cafes where staff members are patting customers’ dogs and/or giving them biscuits out of their hand, and then seconds later they’re handling food. That surely can’t be hygienic!

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/11/2023 20:36

ApolloandDaphne · 25/11/2023 18:52

The more dogs the better. They are mostly better than people imo.

This, frankly. I love going places where there are dogs, even if I don’t have mine with me. There are plenty of places where dogs are not - if you don’t like being near them, go to one of those places…

Begsthequestion · 25/11/2023 20:36

fortifiedwithtea · 25/11/2023 20:30

I’d rather sit next to a dog than a human/toddler in a cafe tbh

Go sit in a dog park then.

One or two little dogs is okay but seven is a bit grim.

Dogs are pretty rank when it comes to hygiene, I mean lots eat shit and puke etc. given half the chance. They lick their bits and then lick people.

And don't these dogs in cafes ever fight or hump etc?

Mind you, the way some people are speaking on here though, they'd probably think it's cute or something. Prob the same kind of dog owners who kiss their dog on the mouth too, despite the stink of genitals on its breath.

starfro · 25/11/2023 20:37

Dogs are amazing. I love seeing them when I go into places.

kitsuneghost · 25/11/2023 20:37

Thing is. I google dog free cafes and it comes up with dog friendly cafes. So please quit saying go elsewhere when you have no idea where someone lives and if there are ANY dog free cafes

RudsyFarmer · 25/11/2023 20:37

FlissyPaps · 25/11/2023 18:51

If you don’t like dogs or dogs being inside cafes then just leave and go somewhere else. It’s not really an issue.

🤣it’s really not an issue that you have to go find another coffee house that has space to sit that isn’t stuff full of dogs.

yes very reasonable as usual.

Bananagirl23 · 25/11/2023 20:38

it depends on the dog’s behaviour around food - I once had a large dog snatch and swallow whole an entire sandwich from my daughter’s hand in the park and the owner didn’t even apologise.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 25/11/2023 20:40

lostonmars · 25/11/2023 20:12

But why can't you just leave it at home? Why is it so hard for you to accept that they're a nuisance?

Because I don’t want to, it’s not illegal and absent people who seem determined to offemdedsje doesn’t bother anyone. I took mine today to an xmas lunch with 20 friends, some of whom I don’t see more than a couple of times a year- I was an hour each way plus 3/4 hours for lunch & if I hadn’t taken here I couldn’t have gone as 6 hours is too long to leave her.

she said hello to people who chose to interact with her, sat under the table between my feet whilst I ate and later on my lap when I was chatting. No offense to anyone, but most of the miserable bastards on here would rather I had stayed home, alone and isolated, because they enjoy whinging.

Meowandthen · 25/11/2023 20:40

No sympathy if you choose to go to crappy Starbucks. 😉

I like dogs and have no issue if they are trained and behaving. Too many animal haters on MN of late. I don’t trust people who don’t like animals.

StaunchMomma · 25/11/2023 20:40

I don't mind them being there so long as they are trained.

I'm not a big fan of a jump-up dog, mostly due being short, and I really can't deal with how effective the sad dog eyebrow routine is when they watch you eating a cake. It could be the literal best slice of cake ever and I would not enjoy it due to cute pooch food-envy guilt 😢

MMAMPWGHAP · 25/11/2023 20:41

The trouble with people saying that people who don’t want to have coffee with 7 dogs is that when you try and search for dog free cafés what you get are endless lists of dog friendly ones. Same thing true when you try to find dog free beaches.

There’s a Dog Free app waiting to be written by someone. And the sooner the better.

Congrats, you've managed to do the bare minimum and train your dog. Still unhygienic. If you can't organise yourself, that's nobody else's problem. "It's not illegal" is not an excuse for shitty behaviour.

Not wanting to share a dining space with seven animals does not make you an "animal hater".

I don't trust grown adults who can't understand this.

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 25/11/2023 20:44

Sounds hideous I would have left too

MrsDotCotton · 25/11/2023 20:45

I agree there are too many dogs in places where they shouldn't be and they smell. It is obvious to non dog owners. Even if you think your dog doesn't smell, it does!

Northsideoftheriver · 25/11/2023 20:46

I don't have a problem with it. I like dogs. Then again I've only seen well behaved ones in cafes. They tend to lie under the table or just sit next to their owner. I'm yet to see one drag it's arse along the floor, growl, steal food, bark incessantly, vomit, do death farts or hump things.

Meowandthen · 25/11/2023 20:46

Nah, I’ve seen your other posts here. You hate dogs and just seem full of hate.

You’ve also deliberately misunderstood what I wrote but carry on with the bitterness. You have simply proven my comment about MN being full of animal haters.

Stressedafff · 25/11/2023 20:47

“Lonely and isolated” it was your choice to buy a dog. People don’t have to accommodate your pet choice and are allowed to be fed up of dogs. Its not illegal to dislike dogs but by these comments it must be!

What did the dogs of years ago do, when there were no dog friendly places

PhantomUnicorn · 25/11/2023 20:48

my BFF has a service dog, so i'm used to having at least them around while sitting in most places.

I dont object to other dogs, but i do wish owners of non-service dogs wouldn't bring them in if they can't control them or keep them well behaved. Had a couple of incidences of them bothering my friends dog.

Interesting response.

Very glad most dog owners are a lot more rational than you.
