7 dogs in Starbucks today is too much

I turned around and walked out again, don’t get me started on dogs sniffing cups and plates of food whilst sat next to the owners.
What is the solution ?
Can’t dogs be left anymore?
AIBU to think dog separation cannot be so painful that dogs have to go everywhere!

Another miserable dog hater. This has been done to death on MN

I agree. There’s so many ‘I hate dogs’ threads.

Yet toddlers and kids clearly still in nappies are plonked into shopping trollies - not on the dedicated seat, actually in the basket bit.. isn't that rather disgusting and unhygienic?

Do you sit and eat in your shopping trolley or something?

What a weird analogy.

Pumpkinatmidnight · 25/11/2023 20:59

Unreasonable to be at Charbucks, which I'm boycotting anyway. Dogs wise, I often look after my mother's small dog and I've noticed how tricky it is to go in many places with a dog, like supermarkets and many smaller grocery shops. Even though this animal is more docile than my toddler!

AlwaysGinPlease · 25/11/2023 20:59

@sollenwir ODFOD

our dogs love to come with us so they're doing what they enjoy. Off you trot.

Coco1379 · 25/11/2023 21:00

Wonder if I could take my cat into a cafe - he has a harness and lead.

There is no hatred of dogs whatsoever by the OP.

I said in the edit I quoted the wrong post. @lostonmars doesn’t know what irony means

Don't worry, this poster likes to get personal with anyone who disagrees with them, even by mistake!

Those of you complaining that dogs smell, I wonder how you will survive a trip on the Central Line in July. Or at any other rush hour indeed. People stink, of garlic, of spices, of perfume only they like, of unwashed armpits, of stale fried food and and because apparently there is a shortage of toothpaste in some London boroughs.

Dogs are fragrant compared to most humans I encounter on TFL.

Stressedafff · 25/11/2023 21:03

So what if there are people who hate dogs? Its not compulsory to enjoy dogs. The way things are now with dogs all over everywhere you go, unruly running round off lead and covering every single outside space in dog shit, you can’t be shocked people have had enough of dogs.

Maatandosiris · 25/11/2023 21:03

Large businesses will have done a thorough appraisal whether it’s more profitable up allow dogs and reached the conclusion it is.

Either go in or not. Most people are indifferent to the dogs or pleased.

When we’re away we are happy so many places allow dogs. Dogs can generally be left for no more than 4 hours sometimes people need to take their dogs out.

Then you must have an odd sense of smell. Are you part dog perchance? 😁

But seriously, do you really like the smell of dogs? Is that a real thing?

Yes, it is wrong. We got rid of smoking inside many places and got dogs instead.

I suppose many people don't like it, but it isn't that easy to express as a lone complainer.

As long as it’s house trained and sits in the floor probably

Try learning English before trying to insult me, that's embarrassing.

Well, it's not the rule.

Well it should be, minging wet slobbery dogs while your eating. Ffs, what did people do with their dogs before?
I like dogs, I have one but I can still manage a coffee shop without her

Good idea, tbh. It's going to happen sooner or later.

I'm not sure what your definition of spoiled brat is, or acting "like an adult" but I don't think that's fair here. I mean judging by your own username, you're not that high brow yourself.

bombastix · 25/11/2023 21:08

I do not go to Starbucks but another reason not to go (the first being the coffee).

It's true that humans can stink* but they are at least (usually) economically active and on the train for a purpose.

  • BO or that awful fleshy smell you get on a hot day when men decide they have to take their tops off

weirdly I was in a cafe today with a friend, 4 children under 4 between the 2 of us - all sat quietly for the most part, eating their cake/snack/drinks. A lady actually came up to us and said what lovely well behaved children, much better than those dogs over there (there was at least one dog repeatedly barking). I dont mind quiet well behaved dogs in cafes but I dont like it when they bark lots, jump up or sniff/lick uninvited.

@AlwaysGinPlease

people aren’t gonna change how they feel about dogs in cafes just cos you say so.

Stroopwaffels · 25/11/2023 21:10

I was organising a meal for a group earlier this month, about 12 people. One of the people coming I don't know that well. She informs me that she will be bringing her "service dog". This is a mongrel, with no specific training, no particular skill, the only thing marking it out as a "service dog" being the neon jacket thing she bought for it on Ebay.

I have no issue with Guide dogs and hearing dogs and other dogs who have had extensive training. They are very well behaved and never ever cause an issue.

It's the plethora of other badly trained animals, the indulgent owners who can't wrap their tiny brains around the fact that not everyone is as besotted with their animal as they are, and the people like that woman who decide their dog is a "service dog" so want to take it everywhere.

Screamingabdabz · 25/11/2023 21:10

StarDolphins · 25/11/2023 20:58

I agree. There’s so many ‘I hate dogs’ threads.

Total and typical lack of empathy. It’s not about ‘hating’ dogs ffs. If you’re allergic and there are 7 seven dogs in a cafe you’ve basically been ostracised from a communal place by animals.

And the dimwits saying ‘go elsewhere’ - there is nowhere else if you want a clean animal-free cafe.

Unfortunately, the thing that is much worse than dogs, are the human entitled selfish dicks they’re often leashed to.
