7 dogs in Starbucks today is too much

Elfandwellbeing · 25/11/2023 18:47

I turned around and walked out again, don’t get me started on dogs sniffing cups and plates of food whilst sat next to the owners.
What is the solution ?
Can’t dogs be left anymore?
AIBU to think dog separation cannot be so painful that dogs have to go everywhere!

lol. Literally there for the first time today with this guy. He even got cream. I had no idea they were welcome and we were sitting outside in the cold until we saw other dogs go in.

Total and typical lack of empathy. It’s not about ‘hating’ dogs ffs. If you’re allergic and there are 7 seven dogs in a cafe you’ve basically been ostracised from a communal place by animals.

And the dimwits saying ‘go elsewhere’ - there is nowhere else if you want a clean animal-free cafe.

Unfortunately, the thing that is much worse than dogs, are the human entitled selfish dicks they’re often leashed to.

Oh come on, don’t be so hysterical. There are always cafes that don’t allow dogs.

Headinthesand21 · 25/11/2023 21:12

To be honest, I’d prefer a cafe with 7 dogs than 7 young children. I’ve been disturbed whilst in a cafe or restaurant by appallingly behaved young children on several occasions, but never so far by a dog or their owner.

There aren’t, though. Literally everywhere in my local town allows them. I know one place within 10 miles that doesn’t - and even that isn’t foolproof (if a dog owner refuses to leave / move when asked, what can the staff realistically do?)

Begsthequestion · 25/11/2023 21:04

Then you must have an odd sense of smell. Are you part dog perchance? 😁

But seriously, do you really like the smell of dogs? Is that a real thing?

There is nothing wrong with my sense of smell, I can tell you what the person sitting next to me had for dinner before they forgot to wash, if the young lad standing by me had some cannabis yesterday, what perfume is on sale in Boots because someone sprayed it all over their coat and on a badgood day I can tell you if someone is on their period just by smelling them.

My dogs smells much better than any of this.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/11/2023 18:52

The more dogs the better. They are mostly better than people imo.

Agreed

Yep, part dog, I called it! 😂

Safxxx · 25/11/2023 21:16

I've boycotted Starbucks not because of the sweet dogs though..

Another miserable dog hater. This has been done to death on MN

Another MNer who can only see things in binary, either all wrong or all right. I am not a dog hater although I have never owned one, being a cat person, but 7 dogs in a relatively small space, Starbucks are usually fairly tight on space even for two legged customers, would be too much for me.

SparklingSparkle · 25/11/2023 21:16

I think it’s nice when dogs go out. They deserve a place to meet their friends. Did they all have puppachinos?

StarDolphins · 25/11/2023 21:16

30not13 · 25/11/2023 20:30

As of 2030

Sorted then, they should be banned just based on MN🤣

I love dogs, but they don't belong in cafes unless on the outside tables or they are a service dog.

💯

Stroopwaffels · 25/11/2023 21:10

I was organising a meal for a group earlier this month, about 12 people. One of the people coming I don't know that well. She informs me that she will be bringing her "service dog". This is a mongrel, with no specific training, no particular skill, the only thing marking it out as a "service dog" being the neon jacket thing she bought for it on Ebay.

I have no issue with Guide dogs and hearing dogs and other dogs who have had extensive training. They are very well behaved and never ever cause an issue.

It's the plethora of other badly trained animals, the indulgent owners who can't wrap their tiny brains around the fact that not everyone is as besotted with their animal as they are, and the people like that woman who decide their dog is a "service dog" so want to take it everywhere.

Separate to the point of the thread but why are you organising such a meal when it seems from your post there's at least one guest you don't respect much?

Agreed.

CatamaranViper · 25/11/2023 21:19

The thing is, these threads are pointless. It doesn't change anything. If you want fewer dog friendly places in your local area, you need to set up your own place or canvas the existing places to see if any will change their minds. Raise it with your MP, raise it with the local council, raise it with local businesses. Coming online to bitch and moan does absolutely nothing.

You can just make up rules based on your own preferences and expect businesses to follow.

And also, they may also be part of the new "tiny dog" law since COVID;

None of those within 10 miles either (and the nearest one is a complete dive that I don’t feel safe going into as a lone woman)

Another agree from me!

Hankunamatata · 25/11/2023 21:24

Starbucks shouldn't allow dogs. Too many low tables.
Our favourite cafe is dog friendly but all the tables are high tables with bug high seats.
