Partner not come home freaking out and angry

annabel586 · 25/11/2023 00:05

My partner went for Christmas party with work last night, he was going to drive but called me about 7 saying he was getting a cab home at 10. He tried calling me twice about 9.30 but I was in the shower so missed the calls.

Been calling him back ever since and he's not answering at all- rings through to voicemail. This is VERY unlike him as he always keeps in touch and calls me back etc

I know it's only been a couple of hours but I'm going out of my mind with worry now. Sad I'm so angry but upset as well, I would never do this.

OP posts:

Wow OP that is not the update I expected. I'd be furious.

burnoutbabe · 25/11/2023 09:35

I was concerned when you said he was planning to drive home -though strange to be planning on driving home from London to Kent? I didn't know anyone ever drove to London!

Him trying to drive home is awful.

He's been arrested for drunk driving.

I'm pleased he's safe but fucking furious.

I'm glad you know where he is now, and sorry he's a fucking dickhead.

Peacheroo · 25/11/2023 09:35

That's not acceptable. Do you have any more details like how/why? Has he done this before to your knowledge? When we were very young my DP was arrested. He was able to call me which it looks like he has but I can't believe he didn't leave a voicemail - imagine he wouldn't know what to say but as a grown up he should have said something.

How long have you been together? Will you stay? I don't think I could. He was lucky... a little later and he could have been arrested for death by dangerous driving!

MrsW2015 · 25/11/2023 09:36

I’m so glad he’s ok but really sorry to hear this has happened.

I’d definitely go to your mums at this point to give yourself some space to get your head together.

What an Arse he was. I don't blame you for being absolutely furious. But at least he is safe. Did he phone you@annabel586 or did the police let you know? That'll be him losing his licence for a period of time, I guess. I hope that won't cause too many problems for you, personally. If it causes problems for him, well that's his look out and serve him right

disappearingfish · 25/11/2023 09:37

So pleased you're not actually married. What a loser.

NoKandoo · 25/11/2023 09:37

I'm afraid that would be a deal-breaker for me. Drunk drivers are right up there with murderers for me.

Peacheroo · 25/11/2023 09:37

Also how has he got his car keys but not the house keys??

Lilibert456 · 25/11/2023 09:37

Relieved for you that he is safe. I have zero tolerance for people who drink and drive. Stupid, selfish man.

Itham · 25/11/2023 09:37

Drunk driving will have long term consequences for both of you OP.

What a nightmare.

MrsCocoaJones1 · 25/11/2023 09:38

Did they not know this when you phoned 101 and filed a missing persons report? Or does it not work like that? I don’t know how the police systems work

NoKandoo · 25/11/2023 09:38

But at least he is safe

But at least he didn't kill anyone, more like.

3luckystars · 25/11/2023 09:38

Idiot.

Wildo · 25/11/2023 09:38

My grandmother was killed by a drunk/high driver. Caused my mum to have several breakdowns. Basically had to raise myself whilst my mum was catatonic on the sofa. Your partner is lucky he didn’t ruin anyone’s life.

For the record, my DP was not arrested for drink driving. He would never do that. He was in the melee of a fight in town and everyone was arrested. He was released without charge once sober.

MrsCocoaJones1 · 25/11/2023 09:39

I wouldn’t be remotely relieved, I’d be packing his shit. Trust would be gone.

Purplecatshopaholic · 25/11/2023 09:40

So he puts you through all this stress op, and now it turns out he’s being done for drunk driving! Ffs! I doubt I could forgive that tbh. Now you know he’s safe, let him stew. Total fuckwit.

This man is scum.

I hope OP kicks him out. I can’t believe all this “thank god he’s safe” twaddle. He didn’t give a shit about how safe anyone was when he got behind the wheel drunk did he?

Disgusting piece of shit.

HeadacheEarthquake · 25/11/2023 09:41

Oh my fucking god

What time?

Tafaa · 25/11/2023 09:41

Yeah this would be it for me.

Spinnymop · 25/11/2023 09:42

Was he attempting to drive from London back to Kent while drunk? That's terrible 😔

Lilibert456 · 25/11/2023 09:42

Think hard about whether you want to spend the rest of your life with this man who has no respect for you. Thank heavens he did not kill or harm an innocent person.

Iwantamarshmallowman · 25/11/2023 09:42

My partner did the same thing to me when we first moved in together. I got myself in a terrible state . I called the local police station custody centre and the hospital, and then i repoted him as a missing. the custody Sargent told me he was probably with a woman. when he did eventually roll in he told me he was alseep on his friends sofa, but looking back he probably was with a woman.I should have seen this for the red flag it was but i didnt at the time.
i hope he's ok, but if and when he comes home safe and well, I would advise you to think about your future with him. This man clearly has no respect for you.

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/11/2023 09:42

@Applesaarenttheonlyfruit yep just like those ones. If women truly believe the man they are with would have an affair then why be with them?!? I don't set my bar so low.
