Whenever someone shares a photo, even a partial one, it’s obvious they are stunning! Is it just me who isn’t!?

Yes, stand me next to Margot Robbie and you can't tell the difference

In my dreams

I find it amusing when people start their posts with "DH and I have been married for ten years and have two beautiful children" or something.

It's not like it's relevant and it's also not like other people will respond with "oh, we have two children as well but ours are bloody ugly as sin" Grin

Only the lovely people are confident enough to put themselves on SM.

I have a couple of friends who do the whole full-length selfies on FB before a night out, young, gorgeous, and a six 6.

Me, middle-aged, average looking, and a generous 12, not so much.

I think people are only going to post the most flattering photos of themselves. There are quite a few people I know in real life and I'm always quite entertained at some of the heavily posed and filtered photos they post on sm or in chats. They really are often very flattering and can give the appearance of being a few stone lighter, more glamorous etc. Sadly I am not very photogenic, I always seem to get rather unflattering chins or my eyes are half shut.

I'm reminded of a picture that Denise Welch shared a few months ago, where she seemed to have lost two stone and about twenty five years! Fair play to her, she was making that very point and she wasn't pretending that she actually looked like that, but the filters are out there. The Kardashians are guilty of this, as well. The few times you do see truly candid pictures of them they are barely recognizable.

Fucking hell .. I am the dogs bollocks me. I’ve got it all. The lot.
No need for me to post a picture. I know I’m fucking stunning .
😁

I'm averagely pretty I would say. I don't know many people I would call ugly. Most people are attractive in their own way

PaintPicturesBlueandGrey · 24/11/2023 20:55

I have been on here for 20 years and of all the photos I have ever seen about a quarter are good looking. Women are dreadful at lying to each other about the way they look because everyone wants appear to be nice. I don’t comment on the photo threads.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 24/11/2023 21:05

I tell you, I could give Samantha Brick a run for her money.

I’m no stunner but I think I’m ok looking. Bar my teeth which I hate to the point of wanting to rip them out and just have dentures at this point. I had braces as a child but they didn’t work well and now they’re all crumbling post -kids. I don’t post pictures of myself anywhere, I’d certainly never on MN. Good for those who have the confidence to do so.

Why would you assume they are ‘lying’? Perhaps they don’t share your ideas of ‘good-looking’. Perhaps they recognise that most of the human race is deeply ordinary in appearance, and appreciate that ordinariness.

Anyone who puts a photo on style and beauty here is complimented. You are told you look younger, have fabulous hair, stunning figure, great boobs, gorgeous clothes etc etc tbh half the time I see scribbled out faces or photos cropped so much that you can only see a chin and body, so I'm a bit 🤔 when people start saying beautiful hair or stunning looking.

Theresit · 24/11/2023 21:55

Grey hair, middle aged, overweight and permanently tired looking. Self grooming involves washing face with Simple soap. 🙈

thistimelastweek · 24/11/2023 22:01

I'm frequently disappointed that I'm recognised by my actual age.

coveredindoghairs · 24/11/2023 22:15

I'm averagely pretty in my head. In the mirror, I'm more average, less pretty! 😅

I would never share a photo of myself on here. I don't appreciate feedback, even if kindly meant, to be honest. I'm happier pretending the 'in my head' version of me is true (slightly younger, slightly prettier, slightly thinner).

I am that rare breed of woman who loves how l look and feel.
Imagine if all women felt the same, how many businesses would go bust?
