Laurence Fox libel trial

Laurence Fox has been sued for libel by two people he described as paedophiles in a twitter spat. They described LF as racist. Trial began today, suing and counter-suing. Mr Fox arrived with his - written thus (daily mail) in single quotes - 'girlfriend'. Odd description.

The best thing about all of this is that he also has another upcoming case where he's suing someone for saying he's racist. I wonder if you can just enter a defence of 'please see LF's other case, no further questions'

Well such people are good business and in my experience of representing them you could tell them over and over that going to court would not fix anything or the resolution would be limited. It did not matter. They somehow always believed that the judge would smite their enemies and cast them into a pit of fire for having the temerity to cross them.

Just had a quick read about it. It's the dregs of Brexit with a bunch of right wing funders for bungs. Andrew Bridgen MP belongs to it. Farage loves it. Jeremy Hosking is a major funder. You can guess the rest.

I would assume that if he loses on the racism issue on this case that he will have to give up on the second one. There is no way another judge will come to a different conclusion.

O mrsjayy, according to LF evidence - he does actually sound deluded - as from DMail, he is not privileged at all as his career has been ruined by the 3 people in court. 3 people who he says have the power to influence others via Twatter to the extent of destroying his acting career. It wasn't his QT appearance that caused this. It was the effect of these 3 virtually unknown people having the temerity to comment on it that caused it. I suggest you read it, I can't bear to detail what he has said that he believes is in his defence. Woof.

That is such a pathetic defence! He seems to see himself as a provocateur asking the hard questions, catching the woke lefties out on their hypocrisy but then crumbles and whines and blames everyone else for being so mean to him. Anyone with the tiniest modicum of common sense knows that posting a swastika is a career-ending move, that claiming to be a victim of racism as a privileged white man is absurd and offensive - he can't take the slightest responsibility for his own actions. Everything he's lost is down to his behaviour and his choices. How on earth he thinks he can blame anyone else is beyond me.

The family court system in the United Kingdom, hidden behind the protective cloak of anonymity is the most pernicious and unaccountable legal entity in the west.

It regularly kills children and it needs complete reform.

It does seem to me that one of his biggest hurdles in the libel trial is proving that his reputation has been damaged. His reputation is already at rock-bottom, and he ensures it stays there with ridiculous pronouncements like this. How can anyone possibly damage it further?
