A friend recommended it. Have listened a few times. Just seemed to be endless discussions about stopping the small boats. Presumably this is a hard right leaning Station?

‘Half of the presenters are gay. ‘

hahahahha. Course they are. Wise up.
Actually, a number of them are.

half? I’m not expecting someone who rates GB need to be accurate or even able work out percentages, though.

If you don’t like the channel don’t watch it.
There is room for many viewpoints in a democratic society.
The irony is that the woke people who run around calling different viewpoints fascist are the most fascist and intolerant of all.
And what does it matter what people’s sexuality is. Surely that is a private matter for them.

Halllooo · 22/11/2023 21:04

‘And what does it matter what people’s sexuality is. Surely that is a private matter for them.’

yup, I’m not the one claiming that the presenters are gay… or half gay or whatever

TooBigForMyBoots · 23/11/2023 01:46

GB News believes in Freedom of Speech.

As long as they agree with what the speaker is saying. HmmThe presenters are quite vocal in demanding the prosecution of people who hold an opposing stance to the RW owners if the station.

Halllooo · 23/11/2023 23:34

‘GB News believes in Freedom of Speech.’

as do we all. But the free speech can be absolutely made up bullshit, presented as fact.

Deathwillbebutapause · 24/11/2023 14:24

GB News doesn't believe in free speech, though. It suspended Dan Wootton over something Laurence Fox said on his show.

Also, much more worryingly, see what they did to Mark Steyn- a very intelligent and dedicated journalist, even if I personally disagree with a lot of his views.

newnamethanks · 24/11/2023 15:18

Dan Wotton who is under investigation on several fronts? Mark Steyn who incurred an Ofcom fine? Those people? Nice friends you've got.

bombastix · 24/11/2023 15:32

It will believe in free speech just to the point it loses advertising and then it will believe something else. It is there to make money, it's a not pretending to be public service.

I am also interested in which half of the presenters are gay and what difference this makes.

Whose friends?

I can't abide Dan Wootton. But he wouldn't have been suspended by GBNews if they'd cared about free speech as claimed upthread.

When OfCom came for Steyn over a Covid vaccine debate (no such debate being politically tolerated here), GB News sold out again and let him leave after trying to force him to pay the fines himself (and shut up).

Clearly, GB News don't care about free speech.

newnamethanks · 24/11/2023 16:24

GB 'News' believes in free speech until, as pp above, advertising revenue is interrupted or the law is broken. It is purely a propaganda device for right wing bigotry, conspirators and other disrupters and makes money from persuading the gullible that they're getting access to truths unknown to others. Snake oil salesmen in the best tradition of American religious hucksters. Caveat Emptor.

Deathwillbebutapause · 24/11/2023 16:33

Yes, it's fundamentally as worthless as BBC News, Sky News, Channel 4 and all the rest--only worse insofar as it purports to present an alternative point of view.

Your talk of "conspirators" and "disrupters" and "law-breakers" is cribbed straight from the Soviet censor's office.

newnamethanks · 24/11/2023 16:46

Is it? It must have crept into my subconscious, unnoticed. See how insidious propaganda can be? Be careful what you wish for.

GuessItsANameChange · 24/11/2023 18:47

Even GB News has been taken in by the Soviet propaganda, stating that they are proud to be disrupters.

Deathwillbebutapause · 24/11/2023 20:06

It's pretty onanistic self-praise from a channel that hasn't actually proven itself to be any such thing, based on the way they have responded to OfCom rulings and on the rather feeble clips people share with me on Facebook. Daily Mail writers as presenters are going to be so reactionary and anti-status quo, aren't they...

It's an affectation, like the Tories calling themselves fiscally responsible, or Labour pretending to care about the poor.

It has so much gammon it should come with a free pineapple.
