A friend recommended it. Have listened a few times. Just seemed to be endless discussions about stopping the small boats. Presumably this is a hard right leaning Station?

Er, you think?

mynameiscalypso · 17/11/2023 15:34

Is this some weird kind of market research?

Doingtheboxerbeat · 17/11/2023 15:34

I thought you were about to reveal Suella's new gig - fully expecting this.

Flapjacker48 · 17/11/2023 15:36

A channel with airhead right wing presenters who cater for the airhead right wing market.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 17/11/2023 15:37

What's GB news ?
Never heard of it . I might google it and give it a listen

TheCadoganArms · 17/11/2023 15:37

Some friend.

It's not a news channel in any serious journalistic sense, but a right wing talking shop populated by a range of right wing, 'anti-woke', pro-government, pro-Brexit and coronavirus-conspiracist presenters and assorted moon barking nut jobs. It is funded by various Brexity hedge fund former Conservative party treasurers and Dubai based investment funds. It is amusing to watch in a 'wow do people really take this shit seriously' kind of way before you realise people buy The Express and that yes they do take it seriously.

That chief haunted Victorian hat stand Mogg and uber grifter Farage have their own slots on the show are all you need to know.

Next time you see your friend give them a kick in the balls/twat.

Edited

So basically a load of Swivel eyed loons on GB News then!

Smileycup · 17/11/2023 15:48

I saw it described on here as for ‘the hard of thinking’ which made me chuckle. It’s not ‘news’ in any sense of the word. Probably closer to propaganda. Akin to the pre WWII propaganda to be honest.

DupontsYellowDressingGown · 17/11/2023 15:52

Aka as GBeebies by those less gammonfaced

iklboo · 17/11/2023 15:53

I can't say. I'll get banned.

OneTC · 17/11/2023 15:59

TV for wankers, by wankers

GingerCream45 · 17/11/2023 16:10

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
anybloodyname · 17/11/2023 16:18

I must be very thick wankery and right wing then as I don't mind it

I quite like Kate and Ben
Can't stand Susannah
Love to see Tory boy and Sunderland man arguing
Always hope Ranvir will divulge details of her toy boy
Quite like watching the vegan sausage roll arguments

I do not of course look at it as a serious balanced political information base but I look elsewhere for that

WinterWaffle · 17/11/2023 16:22

Really? ANOTHER thread about this station? BBC/SKY must be really trembling in their boots if they have to resort to starting threads on Mumsnet slagging them off 😆

Roselilly36 · 17/11/2023 16:23

Not watched, since Mark Steyn’s exit.

VelvetVoice · 17/11/2023 16:27

I watch it for entertainment purposes and to know the enemy - love when they get opposed views from guests but don't give it hardly any air time despite their 'impartiality'. Nana Akua is funny though and reminds me of one of my friends at uni.

IsadoraQuagmire · 17/11/2023 16:29

I love it, especially Andrew Doyle's show Free Speech Nation.

Seemingly so
Not a proper news channel anyway.

KatBurglar · 17/11/2023 16:34

Isn’t it basically a playpen for right wing loons to spout nonsense to each other?

ComtesseDeSpair · 17/11/2023 16:34

I’ve known one of the presenters for years. She’s intelligent, insightful, and really passionate about mainstream media reflecting the views of communities like the one she grew up in and which are influenced by the lives and experiences of the people in them. I think that’s where GB News has gained much of its traction, among people who are fed up of being told that they’re too stupid for their opinions to count because they don’t align with those of people who live entirely different lives and who are frequently removed from the impact of a lot of the ideologies they promote.

LlynTegid · 17/11/2023 16:38

Not a news channel, should be called GB views.

Also has employed the apologist for child neglect Esther McVey.

GuessItsANameChange · 17/11/2023 16:39

It’s American-style ‘news’; e.g. overtly
partisan and with a focus on opinion pieces rather than news reporting.

I’d prefer we don’t end up with left/right wing echo chambers for news channels; it is a massive contributor to political polarization, but unfortunately people like hearing the things they want to hear.

coldcallerbaiter · 17/11/2023 16:43

I watch all the news channels, inc the foreign ones, euro news, Al Jazeera, gb news etc. GB has some good debates, headliners is quite amusing. They all have their mundane, boring and useless sections.

There would be no need for it if BBC etc were totally impartial but alas they are not.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 17/11/2023 16:43

I saw one episode a few months ago with JRM doing a state of the nation address. Felt like I’d fallen into a parallel dystopian world TBH.
