A friend recommended it. Have listened a few times. Just seemed to be endless discussions about stopping the small boats. Presumably this is a hard right leaning Station?

I find it’s astounding that there are still these right wingers watching this tosh who think it’s all the fault of immigrants and the wine and the gays … whatever ‘it all’ is …

Nobody on GB News is denouncing ‘the gays’, as you call them.
Half of the presenters are gay.
You sound like an episode of Little Britain, but that was a comedy not real life, lol.

tallcurvey · 20/11/2023 17:50

@User135644

the bbc is not left wing.

you are crazy.

Thanks @Jumpingthruhoops i was too irritated to bother getting them the quote 😬

Agree on insults

No problem. I was too irritated to let it lie when I knew I'd seen it! 😉

Halllooo · 20/11/2023 20:03

‘Arlene Foster’ … feck me, is that where the aul bigot has rocked up! ? Well it’s not for the money, she has all that cash she skimmed off from the tax payers.
She must be doing it for the craic. Can’t keep a good sectarian creationist extremist down…

Halllooo · 20/11/2023 20:04

‘You sound like an episode of Little Britain, ‘ that’s particularly funny cos I’m not British…

I'm an avid watcher and not thick at all. However I don't go around pretending it's unbiased or a news channel.

Edited

Plenty of educated and intelligent people watch it, it has some different debates and that is better than just news in a loop like Sky.

I watch quite a few news channels though, you should never get your news from one place. Watching lots of Al Jazeera at moment too for obvious reasons.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/11/2023 23:11

I'm watching more Al Jazeera too.Smile And the live Covid coverage on BBC Parliament.

No you haven’t but you’re far too invested in my posts anyway.

Scroll away, and move on 🙄

I am no more or less invested in your posts than any other post on Mnet @EasternStandard. You are just another Random on the Internet in a sea of Randoms on the Internet. I do recognise some longstanding Mnetters who don't NC, but you are not one of them.

Apologies if you are insulted or if I've missed your entire Mnet posting history, but I don't know you.Confused

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/11/2023 23:51

Saying that, I am aware of you now.🤣🤣🤣

Tg for that

Not insulted, the opposite. No need to put me above any random on here or ‘know me’ whatsoever 🙏

Glad to put your mind to rest.Smile

WomensRightsRenegade · 21/11/2023 00:15

At least there’s one station that platforms gender critical women like Helen Joyce, Julie Bindel
and Kellie-Jay Keen. Rather than misogynist, anti-semite sociopaths like Owen Jones. If that makes them ‘hard right’ (which I assume would be something akin to the actual Nazis) then that’s pretty fucking weird.

TooBigForMyBoots · 21/11/2023 00:40

It doesn't platform feminist women. It platforms Tory MPs and members of Reform and Reclaim.

The people you mention in your post have appeared in various media outlets, including the BBC, C4 and Sky News.

bombastix · 21/11/2023 00:53

GB News is endorsed by Peter Mandelson! He says he likes it as it is tearing the Tory party to bits.

The odd thing is that the next Tory leadership contest is going to be there - every candidate will presumably have to go on it.

The BBC is widely perceived as biased to the left. But I think it's also true to say they aren't the kind of left that was big into Corbyn. He in some ways was a product of the old traditional left, and that's why he was an skeptical of the EU. Whereas the BBC types are the sort of left that thinks that kind of thing is beyond the pale.

But they have burned a lot of bridges with what is perceived as biased reporting on modern identity politics kinds of issues. Or in some cases, biased non-reporting, as in, not mentioning certain things at all, not asking certain kinds of hard questions. I think we all know, for example, that if it were left up to the BBC, questions about gender related legislation or medical practice would have never been raised in the media.

I think GB News is a mixed bag, but Andrew Doyle's show is really quite good. It is political and social commentary rather than hard news, that seems to be the emphasis these days for a lot of newspapers and broadcasters. I think real hard news is too expensive, and the public won't pay for it. They want free news.

True. If it was left to BBC it wouldn’t be pro women, The Guardian actively pro men

Both favoured by the many Labour supporters on here. It would bring us closer to NZ style media, where a 70 year old was punched in the face and the media and politicians were still pro men.

I find that kind of media capture and anti women skew incredibly bad. So even if pp link to DM and watch GBN whilst saying how bad they are at least we’re not in the same TRA black hole

The BBC is widely perceived as biased to the left.
This is not supported by studies/polls. YouGov (among others) track this and, until this year, the numbers believing the BBC to be biased toward the right was the same as those believing it to be be biased to the left.

There has been a slight change this year, with 25% of people saying that it is biased to the left and 20% saying biased to the right, but I still don’t think anyone could reasonably argue that equates to a widespread perception of left wing bias.

newnamethanks · 21/11/2023 19:05

'Widely perceived' by those with a definite bias to the right. GB is a mixed bag of right-wing propaganda favoured by bigots everywhere.

Little Britain was syndicated around the world.

half? I’m not expecting someone who rates GB need to be accurate or even able work out percentages, though.

TempestTost · 22/11/2023 01:26

There was some kind of statistic a while back about the number of LGBTQ+++ people working at the BBC, and it was higher than average. Not presenters mainly though, if I recall correctly, technical types. There was some speculation that this group tries to apply pressure if the BBC goes "off-message."

Are you always this pedantic?

newnamethanks · 22/11/2023 15:39

"There was some speculation . . . " was there really? Where? I've not seen anything elsewhere implying - speculating- that a bunch of LGBTQ+++ techs employed by the BBC are ensuring the BBC stays 'on message'. You should report it to your MP, fast, in case it spreads any woke around.
