I would divorce my husband if he behaved like Giles Coren did

I read an article in the Mail on Monday about how Giles Coren abused his neighbour who is the mother of an autistic child by pretending to be a delivery driver to gain access to her house in a row about parking. I am the mother of an ASD child and would divorce my husband if he behaved like this. I can’t believe someone who is employed by the BBC has so little control over himself. No wonder he was issued with a police caution. His poor neighbour.

I think Esther is around 5 ft 8 - I remember GC describing his wife as a tall woman in one of his columns. In photos, she looks like she is a bit taller than him wearing heels.

I can see that you don't like GC but I don't think it is okay to criticise him for his height. He is a small man - I don't know whether he actually believes that he is 5 ft 9. If he has added an inch or two then perhaps he is sensitive about it. It may also be that he has shrunk a bit now that he is in his mid fifties.

My Dad was a very small man (nowhere near 5 ft 9) and by the time he died he was much smaller than I am (I am not tall).

If a man behaves badly then, sure, criticise him for it. But lets not get at men for their lack of height.

Just because GC described Esther as tall doesn't mean she is.😆

Sue Perkins is 1.66 metres so about 5'5". So, hmm. He's closer to the camera than her (and I don't think I remember her ever having long hair!).

Well yes if he’s going to convince himself he’s 5’9”, then he’s going to have to believe she’s around that tall too as he’s often standing next to her! His assessment doesn’t count for much…

He could massively improve his cred and interestingness overnight by writing about coming out as a shorter man and addressing the issues men have with it, and taking some inspiration from the short kings of the world.

@SwedishEdith I think Sue Perkins must also be 5 foot 9 as according to these images she and Giles are the same height, although she actually looks taller than him in one photo.

Mumsnet got mentioned in Popbi*ch this week due to some alleged shenanigans over Giles Coren having to take his Lovely Cotswold property off the market as the asking price had plummeted.

I see this thread is quite old. Has anyone measured GC recently? Maybe he's got a bit taller?
