Gym response to being flashed in ladies changing room?

Yajebbend · 06/11/2023 21:16

A male entered the female changing room and flashed at me late last Saturday night. I was alone and naked. I reported to the gym who have said that they checked the cameras three times and can’t see a male entering. It must be on there somewhere it happened, I’m raging about it and the response. I want him identified so I can report to police.

aibu to think this isn’t good enough

If I knew for sure I got the right person I would merrily kick their teeth out. A flasher went on and raped my granny. Quite happy for him to have no front teeth.

Pineapplepots · 06/11/2023 22:39

This is not the flex you think it is. Bragging about a violent partner beating someone up on your say so. You sound like Neanderthals.

OP I am so sorry this happened to you. I would definitely contact the police, not that they are always great with this sort of thing sadly. I would also not let up with the gym, can you take your complaint higher?

What if the flasher had kicked her boyfriend in the face or bollocks. Doubt she'd like him so much then

No transphobes, just people who know that men have pretended to be women in order to rape, sexually assault and terrify women in spaces that are supposedly safe! But of course no this never happens it's just the transphobes making it up isn't it?

Your poor granny, that's horrible and quite a different situation to @Loubelle70. Hope he was sentenced.

OP please go to police.

And @Loubelle70 you and your boyfriend are thugs and no-one I'd want to know IRL. You probably just grunt as communication anyway. Have you got any idea how painful and expensive teeth work is? Then I expect you strutted around the block crowing in delight at yourselves. Why didn't you just call the police?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 06/11/2023 23:26

Inform them that as per U.K. Data Protection law and specifically your right to access, you are officially making a Subject Access Request for footage covering the entrance to the changing room between [start and end time] on [date].

A subject access request would enable you to get footage of yourself, not of other people.

JeezWhatNext · 06/11/2023 23:30

Was he a member of staff, or one of their partners/family? It sounds highly unsatisfactory. I’d report it to the police anyway. It’s not a “gym matter” it’s a crime.

MistressoftheYoniverse · 06/11/2023 23:47

Report this to the Police...it was a crime and once you do you will see the gym acting differently...It's an absolute shame they didn't take your situation seriously...
In other news...not going to feel sorry for a nonce who got his teeth kicked in if he was the owner of a penis flashed to a woman and her child...Let's be real these people get away with their behaviour even when caught and convicted...If he was the true perp I really don't feel.that sorry for him..at all...

Are you the same person as @Loubelle70?

OP, go the the police asap before the gym delete any CCTV.

Pineapplepots · 06/11/2023 23:52

@MistressoftheYoniverse - As long as it’s ok if people don’t feel sorry for you if you ever get wrongly targeted by mob justice eh? As much as vigilantes are always so sure they’ve got the right person their processes are even more flawed than the authorities. There is a reason we have to at least attempt to have some sort of independent legal system.

PinkPantherPrat · 06/11/2023 23:56

@MistressoftheYoniverse absolutely not, that was disproportionate. Might have instilled anger in him and led him to do it again. Instead of reporting it to police where he would be cautioned and it would have been on record. The 'boyfriend' needs cautioning as well.

I was flashed at last year and kept in very close contact with the police. It didn't occur to me once to hit him. He ended up commiting suicide so that came to an abrupt end.

I seriously dislike yobbos.

queentim · 06/11/2023 23:59

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's traumatizing and violating, especially when you were already in a highly vulnerable position.

Contact the police immediately so it's on record. You could be helping other members

Codlingmoths · 07/11/2023 00:05

100% the police and the gym can talk to them.
if there’s a Fb page I’d comment on it too!

MistressoftheYoniverse · 07/11/2023 00:07

Highly unlikely I would be targeted my dear...I've just lived long enough and I'm not naive in the workings of the police and the judicial system do I condone 'mob justice' No..but I'm not immune to the affect of natural justice...Currently my daughter was attacked in her own home by a 'friend' invited by her roomates into their home...As her Mother I advised her to go to the police...report it...go through an invasive and stressful examinations questioning etc...Where is this man? On holiday outside of the UK until recently...they had a 'chat' with him but of course they have to follow the process...you also have to hope they continue with the case and where is she? In therapy and struggling with her mental health...If someone kicked his teeth in would I be sorry ..No..

PinkPantherPrat · 07/11/2023 00:16

@MistressoftheYoniverse you seem oblivious to the fact that's it a crime in itself to physically attack someone. The poster upthread who said about her grandmother has justified feelings about what she would want to do. Doesn't mean she would actually do it but I can understand the rage.

Anyway this is deflecting from OP, @Yajebbend really hope you can contact police because it gave you such a nasty fright and he shouldn't have been in there.

penjil · 07/11/2023 00:30

Dancingonaslice · 06/11/2023 22:26

What the hell? This is a terrible story your partner should have been arrested for assault. How do you know he even kicked in the face of the correct person? That could have been someone innocent who matched a rough description.
I couldn’t be with a partner that was capable of such awful violence.

You should have reported your flasher to the Police and not sanctioned mob rule. Awful.

Oh hush. Stop being so lily-livered.

With our police being so slow, uncooperative and disinterested, no wonder people take the law into their own hands.

It got the job done and dealt with. Hopefully he wouldn't dare go on to sexually assault any more lone females.

👍👍👍

MistressoftheYoniverse · 07/11/2023 00:30

I'm not oblivious, I'm just not at the behest of criminals..you obviously didn't read what I said..it's not about rage..it's about justice and sometimes the police/government can't give you that.
Really weird you call a sexual offence a 'nasty fright' and ' he shouldn't have been in there' seems like you down play this type.of behaviour..I don't

PinkPantherPrat · 07/11/2023 00:40

Nope, I can't stand vigilantes. And yes I have been raped and went through police and CPS. At no point did I want to kick his teeth in.

Thugs are thugs (very self justifying ones)

My thoughts entirely.

Sugarfree23 · 07/11/2023 00:43

Op get the police involved. Depending on the layout of the changing rooms could he have come from the pool side rather than the dry side. Or hidden in a cubicle or shower until there was only one female in.

And as other have said he may have had a female disguise, wig, baseball cap, big jacket

Pineapplepots · 07/11/2023 00:45

Agree @PinkPantherPrat . The justice system lets victims down terribly but the alternative is just thug violence which is worse. I hope the system didn’t let you down Flowers

MistressoftheYoniverse · 07/11/2023 00:45

Good for you...amazing you feel a rapist isn't a thug ..everyone feels how they do..

Pineapplepots · 07/11/2023 00:47

@MistressoftheYoniverse - those things aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s almost like there is a famous saying for this… an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind - no?

ilovesooty · 07/11/2023 00:51

Loubelle70 · 06/11/2023 22:32

Absolutely Mob rules! My ex...Assault lol are you serious?when someone has in essence flashed my one year old...thats sexual assault. Flash me and you get whats coming. And he did!. I have no care... the right thing was done. 32 years ago..would have took ages for police to come out..not risking him doing to others. Hopefully he would have stopped eh.. with his toothless mouth. Oh btw...my daughter stayed in with his friends girlfriend whilst i sat in the back car..gave i.d...spotted him as i couldn't see from back seat...we stopped..i properly identified him.. and he got less than what he deserved. So don't even go there with me

Edited

Don't even go there with me

Good grief. Violent assault as perceived retribution is never acceptable.

ilovesooty · 07/11/2023 00:54

PastorCarrBonarra · 06/11/2023 22:34

Report to the police OP. The gym management is fobbing you off.

And yes, I agree.

MistressoftheYoniverse · 07/11/2023 00:59

No..because if you want to get biblical an eye for an eye is actually fine..you murder or rape someone you don't get away with it...and mutual exclusivity doesn't actually make sense in this case...someone getting justice that is not sanctioned by the powers that be does not mean it's not justice..Imagine some think 'thug' (possible natural justice) violence is worse than openly sanctioned and systematic lack of justice..the mind boggles
