Gym response to being flashed in ladies changing room?

A male entered the female changing room and flashed at me late last Saturday night. I was alone and naked. I reported to the gym who have said that they checked the cameras three times and can’t see a male entering. It must be on there somewhere it happened, I’m raging about it and the response. I want him identified so I can report to police.

It just feels a bit hazy my memory is shocking. It’s telling that I have reported toxic behaviour and leery men in the sauna and spa before as well then this happens. I was ok on Sunday I’m livid today

Kick up a massive stink with the gym then go to the police. Many rapists start as flashers. He needs to be dealt with.

How can they not see a man in a towel walking into the changing rooms.

I would be asking to see the cctv yourself for that time and telling them you’ve gone to the police (and do report it to the police).

I would report it to the police, simply because they’re not taking it seriously and this may give them a wake up call.

What the hell? This is a terrible story your partner should have been arrested for assault. How do you know he even kicked in the face of the correct person? That could have been someone innocent who matched a rough description.
I couldn’t be with a partner that was capable of such awful violence.

You should have reported your flasher to the Police and not sanctioned mob rule. Awful.

Deff report to the police. You don't have to do the man, and the police will have greater access to information.

Do you swipe a card to enter the gym? If so they can get the record as to who was swiped in...etc etc.

Use that anger.

Go to the police. Most gyms keep an electronic login of who is in the building. Then they might be able to narrow down to a list and if CCTV can show the other people elsewhere in the gym that might suggest who flashed you. This is not okay. Don’t doubt yourself. If they are this brazen it’s probably not the first time, or last.

not thought this through but could it be worth saying to the gym you’ll go public with this / not treating abusive behaviour seriously. Obviously report to police too. Sorry this happened. Don’t doubt yourself.

I have no care... the right thing was done. 32 years ago..would have took ages for police to come out..not risking him doing to others. Hopefully he would have stopped eh.. with his toothless mouth. Oh btw...my daughter stayed in with his friends girlfriend whilst i sat in the back car..gave i.d...spotted him as i couldn't see from back seat...we stopped..i properly identified him.. and he got less than what he deserved. Nope. You are either making this up or you really think that there is any justification for someone being physically outnumbered, pushed to the floor and kicked in the face.

You should not have been flashed, that is a sexual assault, but kicking someone in the face could have killed them. You can't actually be proud of that surely?

OP, make a report to the police and make a request to the DPO of the gym, their contact details should be in the privacy policy or displayed on the signage that notifies you of CCTV being in operation.

Inform them that as per U.K. Data Protection law and specifically your right to access, you are officially making a Subject Access Request for footage covering the entrance to the changing room between [start and end time] on [date].

I'm guessing he entered fully dressed...wear a coat and cap and no one will know. Especially as OP said he appeared in her view from somewhere else.

OP I am so sorry this happened to you. I would definitely contact the police, not that they are always great with this sort of thing sadly. I would also not let up with the gym, can you take your complaint higher?

Sorry this happened, definitely get the police involved asap. If this was a chain do you feel comfortable sharing which one?

Perhaps you could have tortured him to death? Would that have been more satisfying?

OP lots of great advice, I would also add the following to the list:

• got to the police
• make a subject access request
• inform them you WILL go to SM
• GO to SM name and shame the gym and how your report of a crime, indecent exposure has fallen on deaf ears. Tag main gym, tag branch and tag CEO. Ideally on twitter X. (If you don’t have an acct just make one).

Report it to the Police op, the sooner the better as there will be a limited retention schedule for the CCTV footage.

I'm really sorry this happened to you.

And the awful thing us that by denying it happened, they are putting any woman using those changing rooms at quiet times at risk. It's horrible.

The gym will have a list of who clocked into the gym at what time.
I suspect the gym are either telling you they cant find the footage because they dont want to deal with the bad publicity if it got around...or..their CCTV isn't working correctly and they dont want the trouble for that.
Please do report it to the police.
