I have had a shite week, so could do with some smiles and happy things.

So, dog owners, please post pics of your pooches, and tell me a bit about them.
It can be current dogs, or ones that have gone over the bridge. Maybe any from your childhood.

Also, please share a funny or embarrassing tale about them.

Here is mine. She is called Loopy, and is a 13 year old rescue greyhound. She was never raced (I adopted her at 4 months old).
She likes to shake her toys, and often ends up throwing them. She once threw a pair of socks and it hit the back of my sister's head 😂

Let us fill this thread with lovely dog pics and happy memories.

Badger, my 4 month old Collie x, and Boo, my almost 5yr old Presa canario ❤️

Aw, it is sweet how pups like to climb and sit over older dogs... and the older dog just sits there with a withering look.

Just read through again. Since posting on here my baby boy has left us, leaving a massive hole in our lives. We are pleased that he went peacefully, at home, when he was ready to go because that's what he would have wanted, and what we wanted for him.

By god it hurts like hell though.

Oh gosh, so sorry to read this Flowers

My two.
Meg, aged 13. Meg us the most placid, loving family dog ever. The biggest downside - she hated my kids going out of sight so playing hide and seek was a nightmare. She’d run to them and then bark loudly to let me know that it was ok, she had them safe!
Fern, my one year old. Who is utterly terrified of feathers and won’t come in if there’s one on the door mat, but who chases birds.

Meg.is magnificent!

What a great thread OP. These doggie photos and stories are the best thing on MN.

Banksy would like you to see his amazing forbearance in resisting snaffling this piece of cheese.

😄His eyes say; "Why can't I have it?"

My labs would not resist, be straight out your hand.

Don't worry he did get to have it 5 seconds later Grin

Since I last posted on the thread, Meg has crossed the bridge.
I ache for her every day but she slipped away quietly with all of us there telling her she was loved.

Fern is very much here. Still spooked by feathers. And under the impression that I wanted a lapdog so she must fulfil my desire!
She can hear cheese being grated around 300 miles away, and smiles at me when she’s really enjoying her cuddles.

What a super thread and such lovely stories. Another shout out for the racing greyhounds, ours is a local celebrity on the basis of her being SO soft. Sympathies also with those who have gone, we lost our first dog a couple of years ago and we still miss her dearly (even though she was a complete antisocial delinquent).

This is Toby. He's a sassy Cavalier King Charles spaniel and almost 7 months old.

Chester and Bluebelle the whippets. My Sister's but I looked after them since they were puppies. They changed my life as they stopped me slipping back into being agoraphobic and stuck housebound. Chessie sadly no longer with us. Belle I just took out for a walk this morning, I adore her! I love all dogs but especially sighthounds aka skinny dogs!

Greyhounds really are the best. My mum has an ex-racer, and he is such a gentle soul. He has had children who are scared of dogs approach him and ask to pet him. He has also had dogs play with him whose owners have said do not get on with other dogs. I wish my mum would have him assessed as a Pet as Therapy dog as he would be perfect for it.

Here's Chencho, he's a rescued Spanish galgo. We've previously had ex racing greyhounds, but the welfare issues surrounding Spanish hunting dogs pulled at our heartstrings and now we have a galgo. He's sadly traumatised by his past life, but he's content and happy in our home with people he knows.
