I have had a shite week, so could do with some smiles and happy things.

So, dog owners, please post pics of your pooches, and tell me a bit about them.
It can be current dogs, or ones that have gone over the bridge. Maybe any from your childhood.

Also, please share a funny or embarrassing tale about them.

Here is mine. She is called Loopy, and is a 13 year old rescue greyhound. She was never raced (I adopted her at 4 months old).
She likes to shake her toys, and often ends up throwing them. She once threw a pair of socks and it hit the back of my sister's head 😂

Let us fill this thread with lovely dog pics and happy memories.

This is Monty my 2yr old cockapoo. The most sweet natured dog in the world, he truely is a very good boy (and loves being told that he is). Completely unphased by loud fireworks but terrified of the hoover, the ironing board and the sound of the door opening on the cupboard that houses these items!

Spud showing off his 2 ball trick and his new raincoat, which is really to help when he rolls in dead things / fox poo

What a marvellous selection of dogglingtons. I’m a particular fan of the greyhounds- somehow slightly comical dogs but they always look so benevolent.

@Idratherbepaddleboarding, Bilbo is so incredibly shiny! What a beautiful dog.

I would like to introduce Rod the dog. He is a rescue from Ireland and a mix of lots of breeds including Border Collie, Corgi and Jack Russell. He is very spoilt and sleeps on our bed. He is indeed scared of the fireworks and is scared of loads of other things too, like long cylinders, windscreen wipers and people walking in slow motion. He is good company and loves snuggling. He is pretty much my best mate out of everyone in the house (sorry DH, 2 x teenagers and 2 x cats).

Name changed for this. I love seeing everyone's dogs 🐾

These are mine. The Golden Retriever is Luna. She was 12 on Halloween (named after the witch from Harry Potter) and this was her a few years ago. She's currently terrified of all the fireworks going off.

The dachshund is Jonas who is 3. He's a right character and I love him to bits.

Diesel. He's a 15 month old chocolate dapple dachshund. Currently sleeping through all the fireworks. Big scary bark on such a small sausage. Also hates the Amazon man.

This is a lovely post after all the doggy haters I’ve seen on here lately.

Dogs can be dangerous though, and there are a lot of dodgy owners. Pretending the issue isn’t there doesn’t help.

Investinavest · 05/11/2023 20:50

The curly merle fool is Douglas, also known (inexplicably) as Foogalay. He is 14 months old and the naughtiest dog I've ever known.

The little brown border terrier is 4 year old Trevor, the bestest bestest dog who ever lived and my perfect boy, though he is a bit of a whiney prick and cannot digest meat or fish protein which is somewhat inconvenient.

Trevor cares not one jot about the fireworks, Foogs isn't scared but does bark at every little sound so he's had a busy few nights being a gobshite.

The black patterdale terrier is Nellie, we lost her 4 years ago. She was vicious, feral and petrified of fireworks, we were all delighted when she went deaf in later life.

Loving this thread as my little chap curls up at my feet, finally settled after his terror of fireworks.
Whilst all these dogs are astonishingly beautiful and noble, I dare not post a photo of my boy as you would all have to agree with me that is is truly the most handsome and traffic stopping dog of all time, and I don't want to have to do that..Grin

My two.
Meg, aged 13. Meg us the most placid, loving family dog ever. The biggest downside - she hated my kids going out of sight so playing hide and seek was a nightmare. She’d run to them and then bark loudly to let me know that it was ok, she had them safe!
Fern, my one year old. Who is utterly terrified of feathers and won’t come in if there’s one on the door mat, but who chases birds.

This is my new rescue, I've had him 4 days, he does not like fireworks and is not housetrained. So it's all going really, really well Grin

This is Cooper, he’s 6.5. He’s my best Buddy and makes my life so much better. He’s sadly going blind, having being diagnosed with glaucoma. Love him to bits

Zac we rescued when he was 18M marvellous dog . Loyal companion, protector , beautiful soul . He crossed over the rainbow bridge last year aged 11, he had cancer . There isn't a day go by when I don't think of him . A huge loss to us all, we miss him terribly. I volunteer at a dog rescue , in his memory, one day I will rescue again but for now volunteering fills a void .

thisismydogholly · 05/11/2023 21:29

This is my dog Holly (clue in the name change!). She’s a 14 year old labrador cross (she was a rescue so we’re not 100% sure what she is) and has been petrified of the fireworks. Finally got her settled and tucked up the poor thing, although I think she’s been milking being on the sofa and having cuddles all evening!

I don't have a dog but I come on these threads to look at the cute pics because tbf I love dogs so bloody much but youngest child is a bit too young for us to have a dog. Loving these pictures, especially the one belonging to @MumofSpud, made me smile. One day I will get a dog, probably a grey hound that farts loads 🤣 but for now I will be lurking here, like a weirdo.

Oh look at her, my heart fills with love when I see our pets sleeping like this knowing they're calm at last during the bloody fireworks. She's gorgeous.

My Spooner.
He had to be castrated because he spaffed on the floor when I came home from work.
About a week after losing his fun bags, I was approached with an £1k offer for his baby gravy
