I have had a shite week, so could do with some smiles and happy things.

So, dog owners, please post pics of your pooches, and tell me a bit about them.
It can be current dogs, or ones that have gone over the bridge. Maybe any from your childhood.

Also, please share a funny or embarrassing tale about them.

Here is mine. She is called Loopy, and is a 13 year old rescue greyhound. She was never raced (I adopted her at 4 months old).
She likes to shake her toys, and often ends up throwing them. She once threw a pair of socks and it hit the back of my sister's head 😂

Let us fill this thread with lovely dog pics and happy memories.

New setup. Has he gone in it without being bribed? Not even once. Can’t say I’m surprised. Think he gets off on sleeping directly next to it.

After all the dog hating threads of late, this thread is a breath of fresh air. Us Mumsnetters have some beautiful canine friends. I know we seem to be a minority here, but while i can understand some people having a phobia of certain breeds, or if they've had a bad experience in the past, or not being keen due to allergies. But personally i adore dogs, while conceding being wary of pitbulls etc. But the majority of dogs are wonderful. My Maggie is such a pleasure. She can be taken anywhere and will behave perfectly. Kids love her. Just this evening walking the 7 min walk to the park. I had two toddlers saying ''MAGGIE!'' and wanting to say hi to her. (Obviously being a responsible owner I keep any interactions with toddlers very, very well supervised. She's a good dog but I'm not stupid either and the parents keep their child closely supervised too.)

This is Echo, she's a Samoyed and 18 months old. Bonkers pooch! Loves everyone and everything. She gets so much attention on the street and when she goes to take the kids to school she's got a line of kids waiting to hug her and she loves it!
Funny thing she does is plays in the garden with her ball on a rope, often whacks herself with the ball but still continues that game lol

Giving this thread a bump to brighten up this dreary Sunday.

Here is Barry the rescue greyhound. He is my mum's dog and is an absolute sweetie (and idiot).

Name changed as this could be very outing! This is Benson our 9 year old Finnish Lapphund. He hates being brushed, has zero and I mean zero recall, loves to bark at anything that moves on walks, eats anything in sight (the more disgusting the better) and leaves a trail of muddy footprints through the house every sodding day. He's more cat than dog but occasionally deigns to let us pat him.

But we love him and couldn't imagine life without him.

Sooky pants is also terrified of fireworks - which are still going on nightly where we live Angry. We give him hemp oil every night and it really helps - he's still scared but no longer shakes and drools

I can't post a photo as my dog is a local, celeb and has distinct features.

However, he's a golden retriever called Arthur. Three years ago we thought we were going to lose him, but he pulled through - another shout out to Langfords Vet Hospital. He was supposed to die the weekend he was admitted, had GI problems and was very I'll indeed.

He came home three days later and has been fighting since.

He's had other health problems since that emergency, but every time he bounces back. He's old now, nearly 14 and slow, but the will to live is strong and he shows no sign of giving into the inevitable.

He is our hero.

My partner fosters dogs and Arthur is always such a role model to them. He takes them under his wing and shows them how to act.

I've simply never met a living being like him. He is more human than so,e humans. He tells me to fuck off on a regular basis, but he is my hero.

She regards it as her duty to catch every single leaf as it whips across the park. A truly bonkers but excellent dog.

This is my girl Evie - she's currently sulking as she can't lay on the heated throw (due to me using it)

She hopes your week gets better 🤗

My 22 week old Havanese after her first groom. The groomer added the hideous pink rosette, not me.
She is such a lovely dog: really sweet, but bonkers. Intelligent and stubborn AF.
She has brought so much love into our household.
One of her best attributes: she doesn't like my ex husband and growls when he comes to see the DC. Clever dog!

Just read through again. Since posting on here my baby boy has left us, leaving a massive hole in our lives. We are pleased that he went peacefully, at home, when he was ready to go because that's what he would have wanted, and what we wanted for him.

By god it hurts like hell though.
