I have had a shite week, so could do with some smiles and happy things.

So, dog owners, please post pics of your pooches, and tell me a bit about them.
It can be current dogs, or ones that have gone over the bridge. Maybe any from your childhood.

Also, please share a funny or embarrassing tale about them.

Here is mine. She is called Loopy, and is a 13 year old rescue greyhound. She was never raced (I adopted her at 4 months old).
She likes to shake her toys, and often ends up throwing them. She once threw a pair of socks and it hit the back of my sister's head 😂

Let us fill this thread with lovely dog pics and happy memories.

Two of our current three when they were very small, the low wheelbase job is a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen and he's about 12 weeks in this pic. The black and tan speed machine is a Saluki and she was about 7 months there.

They're still besties, though these days if he sits next to her she is AFFRONTED and moves (though she lets our wobbly old Tibetan Terrier - no pic he is solid black and takes an awful photo - sit next to her!).

They are both hilarious, now 6 years old, and cheer me up on a daily basis.

OMG such beautiful puppers

Fieldofbrokenpromises · 06/11/2023 10:04

Not posting a pic but our hound spreads joy wherever he goes. He’s always on the lead in public (mainly due to him having no road sense). We never approach anyone else unless invited and I collect all his “output”.
He is terrified of fireworks although he’s been better this year and I don’t begrudge anyone a bit of fun with fireworks :)
Several family members who generally dislike dogs have made an exception for him.
He is a rescue dog from Romania so we know little of his history. He is not our furbaby or a substitute child, he’s not allowed on beds or furniture as he has his own.
He has been a great friend and I hope we have given him a better life than the one he had.

Thank you all so much for your photos and stories about your wonderful dogs.

They are all the best boys and girls (especially the greyhounds).

It is lovely to see that people are saving this thread to return to when they need a boost. Just proof as to how wonderful dogs are.

Keep them coming

This is my lovely rescue greyhound cross Jax. Found tied to a tree when he was 7 months old, then a couple of months later he ran into a fence while chasing a pigeon and broke his neck in two places. He spent four months recovering from total paralysis (shout out to the amazing vets at Langford Vet Hospital who saved him when we thought there was no hope). He’s now my happy, healthy 4 year old baby and I love him to bits.

This is our dog Milo on holiday in Germany in our caravan. He’s 11 years old and we got him 8 years ago from Dogs Trust. They didn’t know what mix he was so we got hisDNA done. He’s mostly Border Terrier with a bit of Border Collie, Collie, Fox Hair Terrier and Whippet!!!
Hes the best dog ever.

This is Roger Beagle who lived mostly for dishwasher duty and eating anything in any condition that once was food. He could give massive side eye ("really? You expect me to go out in THAT weather?") and was absolutely my best boy.

Crossed the rainbow bridge last December and DH, DS (23) and I all cried our eyes out.

We've got a black 4 year old cockerpoo. She is spoilt rotten but is the cuddliest most empathetic dog I've ever known. She follows my husband round like his shadow. And I love hearing her nails on the floor as she trit trots down in the morning after she's had aa long lie in...with a toy in her mouth looking for him to play with her.

I give you Princess Margaret of Haringey (or Maggie to you). She's lovely, funny, friendly and loyal and no, doghaters of MN, she ain't going anywhere (except maybe the park).

Two funny things about Maggie.

She is obsessed with washing machines and the whole business of doing washing. She squeals with excitement when she sees you with washing, tries to help you load it, watches it while it's on, then tries to help unload it and hang it on the line/clothes horse.

Her favourite game is bubbles and she chases them all over the park to pop them. This causes great amusement to children and she's got a fan club of children who want to play with her. She's very gentle and it's lovely to watch.

Maggie is the border collie. The pug is her friend Betty.

I love her so much xxx
