I have had a shite week, so could do with some smiles and happy things.

So, dog owners, please post pics of your pooches, and tell me a bit about them.
It can be current dogs, or ones that have gone over the bridge. Maybe any from your childhood.

Also, please share a funny or embarrassing tale about them.

Here is mine. She is called Loopy, and is a 13 year old rescue greyhound. She was never raced (I adopted her at 4 months old).
She likes to shake her toys, and often ends up throwing them. She once threw a pair of socks and it hit the back of my sister's head 😂

Let us fill this thread with lovely dog pics and happy memories.

Awww, they are all so gorgeous.
The first pic is our 3 year old (well, 3 on 10th Nov) rescue Bear. It’s been a tough first year with him but we love him dearly and strive to give him the best life, much better than his first 2 years on this planet.

The second is my bestest ever mate, Archie. We shared 10 years together, he was my shadow and lit up my days. He fought cancer 3 times but by last summer it proved just to much for his little body. I’ll miss him for the rest of my days.

This is Alfie the Dalmatian who we sadly lost at the beginning of this year. I miss him every single day. He was terrified of fireworks to the point we had to have him sedated 😢

The house was too quiet without him so this is Honey the fox red lab who is 9 months. She is currently not a bit bothered by the fireworks and is currently snoring her silly head off 🥰

Woody. He suddenly died this time last year. He was the cuddliest, friendliest, caring friend and I miss him so much. He was always up to mischief, I turned round to see him standing up on his back legs licking buttercream icing off my DD’s birthday cake, it was too late to make another so I ended up cutting the cats ear off. Thankfully she thought this was hilarious when I explained and gave him a hug. He would always cuddle up with the kids on the sofa when sick, dig lots of holes, steal shoes & toys and hide them in his bed.

@MumofSpud - what a clever boy 😆

Muddybonbon · 05/11/2023 21:52

We now have this little fella. Full of energy, has no concept of personal space, cuddly and adorable. Recently he has taken to running through the cat flap, which he fitted through when doing his zoomies around the garden however, he has had a growth spurt and this morning got stuck. He howled much to the cat’s amusement until Dh & I managed to free him.

My gorgeous little boy, who’s currently got an aggressive type of cancer so is being spoilt rotten. We’ve been told 3 months but I’m really hoping we’ll get a few more than that cause he’s honestly been the most loving dog and doesn’t deserve to go at just 10 years old.

He’s a sock thief but the best cuddle monkey. I’m loving seeing all of these wonderful puppas 💜

Rantypanties our Archie had an aggressive cancer in his spleen, we were told a few months but we got a full year with him. It’s heartbreaking isn’t it? Archie was only 10 too. I hope you get as much time as possible with your lovely boy.

HelpIcantfindaname · 05/11/2023 22:01

Daisy, my beautiful border collie. She has spent the last 2 nights squished in a tiny gap behind the settee because she is terrified of fireworks.

These are my two rescue girls. They are both getting on a bit now. Ruby, black and white, is now deaf, so for the first time isn’t worried by the fireworks. Jade was a breeding butch at a puppy farm, until I got her. She was scared of everything, but Ruby has given her the confidence to enjoy life.

Yay - finally a lovely dog thread on MN!! 😍Absolutely adorable pictures of all the gorgeous dogs!

This is Milo - the best dog in the world 🥰 He's a 2.5-year-old pug and I honestly don't have enough words to describe how amazing he is. He hates the cold and spends the winters snoozing on an electric blanket (on the sofa/bed). He doesn't even want to go into the garden to pee if the weather isn't pleasant.

My parents think he's so wise he should study/teach at Cambridge and call him "our student" (or "professor"). I honestly believe he understands every word we say (in any language).

We simply won the doggie lottery with him ❤️

Much love to those posting about canine friends who are no longer with us. I miss my big old girl every day. They mean so much to us, give us so much love and in return only ask for a bit of dinner, a run in the fresh air and a warm bed. They are irreplaceable.

My two.
Meg, aged 13. Meg us the most placid, loving family dog ever. The biggest downside - she hated my kids going out of sight so playing hide and seek was a nightmare. She’d run to them and then bark loudly to let me know that it was ok, she had them safe!
Fern, my one year old. Who is utterly terrified of feathers and won’t come in if there’s one on the door mat, but who chases birds.

Gorgeous

This is Misty, just the most beautiful Sheltie, resting with her head on her Teddy.

Meet Zac ( tried to add photos of him without luck .... anyway a photo of a photo).
Fireworks never bothered him , he would tan out in the garden and bark constantly at them .
During Covid when we stood out the front and clapped he would tan up and down the road barking excitedly, we always thought we were clapping him . Complete joy he was . We even had him blessed at church when we know his days were coming to an end . His last weekend family came and stayed my children can back home until his last breath . He passed on the sofa with us all with him . Once the vet had taken him , we opened a bottle of champagne and toasted him .
He had a lonely send off and to know he dies at home was even better .
Sending hugs and love ❤️ to all who furry babies are facing cancer .

I should have proof read !!!!

Rantypanties · 05/11/2023 22:14

Thank you @Flowersinthewateringcan I haven’t wanted to Google too much since the diagnosis so I really hope we can have as much luck as you did with Archie’s prognosis!

Just lovely, people are just so awful with animals. Jade must not be able to believe how different her life is.

This is Freddie, he’s 11 weeks old. He’s not sure about fireworks, he loves balls though!

This is Brie. Had her for 5 weeks. She’s 5 years old and been used for breeding. She’s still very skittish and not house trained, but she’s a work in progress and I love her.
