AIBU or is there an unwritten rule that you eat crumpets in pairs? DH occasionally has a single crumpet. They come in sixes, so that often leaves a random spare crumpet that can’t be paired up. He says it’s normal.

Only me that eats them, i eat 3 save 3 for another day Grin

The pleasure of living alone, a pack of 9 is ideal.

Anyone that puts a savoury topping other than butter on a crumpet is clearly some kind of social deviant.

The correct toppings are

  • butter,
  • butter and honey or syrup
  • only honey or syrup if you are on a diet
Jam may be substituted in extremis but only if there is no honey or syrup, and only if the butter is already spread and then the potential crumpet consumer discovers there is no honey or syrup and really cannot deal with a butter only option. The post crumpet consumer must then purchase honey or syrup as soon as possible to prevent future no-honey-or-syrup-to-have-with-crumpets situations occurring.

Ewww. No way do I want all that sweetness on my crumpet.

If you want to eat cake or sweets, then do so

I have just recently discovered the M&S café Giant Welsh Rarebit Crumpet. Food of the Gods!

Where do people stand on Giant Crumpets?

I bought some out of curiosity but when it was sitting on the plate, it felt soulless, like something answering a question no-one asked.

Does a Giant Crumpet toast all over, or do you have to turn it over to cook the top edge?

One of the best ways to eat crumpets is as soldiers with runny boiled eggs. The yolk gets in the holes so its better than toast.

We buy crumpets in packets of six and have three each. Perfect with butter and honey.

StarlightLady · 06/11/2023 11:55

Crumpets are 100% calorie free. The calories fall down those little holes. 😀

Maybe not! 'I thought I'd better add that before someone challenges me.

I believe the same thing happens with broken biscuits-the calories fall out.😀

One crumpet? One??

Two crumpets is an ideal serving. 3 if I'm feeling greedy hungry. Ideally with lots of butter and marmite, or poached eggs!
