Just fucking sick of dogs

1000 replies

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:00

Sorry but I am. I was cycling home from
picking up DS from school with him on the back and a dog came running up beside
me snarling and snapping at my feet on the pedals. I nearly bloody went over but managed to keep my balance and get past it (electric bike). Owner called an apology and I just rode on as it was still off the lead and I was worried for DS.

This is a national cycling path and much used school route so there are always bikes and children 8-9 and 3-4.

A sausage dog decided to bolt towards my 2 year old last month in the park for no apparent reason and I had to scoop him
up to avoid contact.

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaring my kids when we are just going about our day.

They should ALL be on leads unless they are in a dog park/field.

Pet dogs should be banned I tell ya, right now, there is not enough room for them anymore in urban settings. We are being overrun!

Service dogs, sniffer dogs, forensic dogs, rescue dogs, sheepdogs and so on are very welcome. They actually do what they are bred to do, are working dogs and contribute hugely to society as a whole. The rest of them are just useless appendages of their owners really. They contribute nothing except trouble and shit to those who are not their owners.

This.

Suchardchoccy · 07/11/2023 09:38

I'm also sick of all the dog shit everywhere, do people not get fined for this??? There should be stricter laws in place. And all these dog attacks on the news, I'm terrified when a dog comes near my children.

‘It’s just now there are far too many of them it’s unsustainable. ‘

in what sense? It’s not unsustainable…

Halllooo · 07/11/2023 09:44

‘People who love their pets more than they
love people don't actually love pets at all. They don't love anything.’

oh get a grip. Living an animal doesn’t mean you don’t love people, or you love a pet more than your family. Pets bring great solace to a lot of people, those who live alone for starters.
I’d argue the opposite - that there’s some thing wrong with people who can’t love an animal…

eastegg · 07/11/2023 09:45

This thread has gone the same way they all do, and I think I’m done with it. Loads of sensible dog owners coming on to say they agree with the OP (thereby demonstrating it’s NOT an us versus them issue) and a small hardcore trying to drag it down to playground level. It tells you something about the mentality of some people when their response to a problem is ‘well it’s not a problem where I live’.

I can assure you that the fresh-every-morning piles of poo I have just navigated yet again on the way to school, including one a few doors down which was right in the middle of the pavement and I’ve just put sticks round to try to stop others stepping in it, are not a figment of my imagination. Of course all dog owners are not the same (I’ve already mentioned how many are on this thread agreeing with the OP), but every one of those many poos I see every day has been left by an arsehole owner. Fact.

This is talking about people who claim to love their pet more than humans.
it’s unhinged

Absolutely right.
If they can’t be bothered to pick up the poo- they should at least train their dog to use the gutter.

People who walk dogs by night are bad for this.

Jilly Cooper said when these people mean “ Walkies” they really mean “ Shitties”.

And JC is a dog lover.

oakleaffy · 07/11/2023 11:22

Happyhappy10 · 06/11/2023 13:09

I feel exactly the same. I love dogs. I had dogs growing up.

It is an absolute nightmare going out with 3 young children and having strange dogs, off their lead, running up to them... jumping on them... running around them frantically.

It puts me on edge.

The owners 'oh he's friendly', 'your children will do more harm to my dog than she will to them', ' it's a free country' etc etc. They do seldom listen to their owner telling them to get down, come away etc. That's if they even bother. They casually walk, very very slowly to get their dog under control.

It is genuinely scary. I'm not a nervous person.

There was an XL bully ( pitbull cross) breeder and “ Trainer “ on a Times Video

His dog was clearly not trained, was eyeballing other dogs in a predatory way.
It was on a harness, and the panic in his voice as he asked a woman to “CALL YOUR DOG AWAY!!” was noticeable.
The woman had zero control, ( Romanian looking type dog) despite her trying to call it back)

Had the Romanian type dog it not decided to back off from the XL by itself, it could easily have erupted into a nasty dog attack.
If that is the “trainer’s “ level of “ High standards of training “ that was very alarming.

His neighbour, an older lightweight woman had taken on a dog aggressive XL Bully and had had training from this man- and was so say ok now.

It didn’t engender confidence 😬

Deathbyfluffy · 07/11/2023 11:28

SwordToFlamethrower · 03/11/2023 19:23

SAME. I was out for a walk and a bull terrier came bounding over towards me with my baby in the pram, I stood in front of the pram and it jumped up all over me, I got absolutely covered in mud.

I genuinely wanted to kick the dog away, I was absolutely terrified.

The owner apologised saying "I didn't think anyone was around"!!!

I absolutely HATE DOGS. If you must have a dog, keep it on a fucking leash.

Do it, I have zero time for dogs coming and 'being friendly' (covering me in mud etc) when I'm just trying to go about my day.

A firm shove with a shoe gets the message across, and then when the owner invariably has a whinge you can explain why, and how they can prevent it happening in future.

oakleaffy · 07/11/2023 11:40

The video with the XL trainer is here...referenced earlier.
It's a doddle getting a dog to 'come' and 'sit' indoors

I wasn't impressed as his dog as it was eyeballing others outdoors.
He admits they have American Pitbull Terrier in them.

If that's a ''high standard'' that's very worrying.

That's absolutely basic basic basic stuff.

Anyone with eyes can see it wants to lay in to the other dogs {that Prey type focus, and low head carriage}

Oh my god, he’s a ‘trainer’ if that’s his level of ‘training’ it’s diabolical, that dog is NOT focused on him at all, he’s just constantly distracting it from other passing dogs, why does he have to drag it half way into a bush when other dogs are around if it’s so well trained and non aggressive?! And he’s bred another three from the two he’s already got.. for what reason I suppose? £££££ Absolute irresponsible bullshitter who shouldn’t have a public platform for this idiocy.

don’t even get me started on the foster parent in the video who said she did her research and specifically got an XL bully FOR the foster kids and would ‘recommend them to anyone with kids’ fucking deluded.

the common theme in all these videos is that the dog can’t interact normally with other dogs and the owners can’t physically hold them to heel on a normal walk, that’s why they break free when they want to attack something.. I can’t wait for the ban till they’re all muzzled in public.

But they do contribute a lot. They are great for mental health, are company for lonely people and get the unfit out walking. They must save the nhs a fortune which impacts us all.

YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2023 22:43

Incidentally I don’t hate dogs. I dislike most of them. But what I dislike more is irresponsible and ridiculous owners . It seems like an epidemic these days, whereas bad owners used to be few and far between. Now any old dum-dum can buy a puppy and not bother their arse to train it

could say the same for many children and their parents, but I have a feeling if someone were to post the same thing about kids people would lose their shit, despite the fact that most kids are way more misbehaved than most dogs.

Lattims83 · 07/11/2023 12:30

coldcallerbaiter · 07/11/2023 09:10

This.

again, could say the same for children. What kind of idiot says things like, pet dogs should be banned. So what then happens to all the dogs, they get put down? What kind of psychopath are you? And why should animals only exist to help people? They have a right to live as much as humans do, if not more, considering humans destroy everything they touch, the same can't be said for any other animal on the planet.

YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/11/2023 12:32

Probably because children aren’t dogs? They’re our own species and we SHOULD treat them better than animals and it’s pretty unhinged to hate them

Do you have a real understanding of sociopathy because it's irresponsible and insulting to label a group of people as sociopaths just because you are suspicious of them being ingenious.

I do not suspect them of being ingenious.😆

Sociopathy includes a lack of empathy for your fellow creatures, callous lack of regard for right and wrong, an inability to see another's point of view, and calculated manipulation. Here the last is on full display: I'll pretend I care more about your dog more than you do (even though I hate dogs) just to get at you. I will crow about the supposed ill-health of your dog not because I care about it or wish it well but to hurt you.

I don't own brachy breeds myself, as I prefer big dogs, but those comments addressed to a pug owner were fucking warped.

The RIGHT kind of dog for the RIGHT kind of owner does indeed have a positive impact on health.
A very sensible older lady in her Eighties has had three consecutive dogs- all rescued ones- but she chooses very wisely.

As she has got older, her dogs have got smaller.
She is out and about every da keeping active.

But the woman with that XL in the video above
That is an accident waiting to happen
Far too powerful for her to manage and she has foster children-An insane choice.

Yeah, the dog-child comparison again. 🙄

And why is it psychopathic to put animals down? We kill rats and mice all the time. That’s not frowned on. There’s nothing special about dogs.

Nobody sensible advocates suffering to animals (although many misguided, sentimental dog owners do cause suffering to their pets), but a common sense attitude to the lives of animals is normal and psychologically healthy, including ending life when there’s no good future for the animal. Shelters that won’t put down dogs are cruel, in my opinion.

And for the third time…extreme animal ‘lovers’ have a greater tendency to carry out and condone violence and harm to people than do others.

It is a damning indictment for the XL Pit Bully type if this is the best “trainer” they can find.

My son trained his Whippet far better than that aged 11.

The foster carer is just a disaster waiting to happen.

A foster family where we lived had chaotic
teens- and a very sweet rescued Borzoi.
The Borzoi just kept out of the way and was never any trouble, til she died aged 16.
She was very good with the teens.

Im glad that you too could see the complete unfocused ness of that XL.
He was indeed dragging it - not a well trained dog.

You can’t train fighting genes out of these.
any more than you can train rat hunting out of a Jack Russell.
XLs are human aggressive as well.

I wouldn’t read too much into a username based on a (great) song.

I do like your username. Made most famous by Carve Her Name With Pride, I believe. Violette Szabo: amazing and wonderful woman.
