Just fucking sick of dogs

1000 replies

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:00

Sorry but I am. I was cycling home from
picking up DS from school with him on the back and a dog came running up beside
me snarling and snapping at my feet on the pedals. I nearly bloody went over but managed to keep my balance and get past it (electric bike). Owner called an apology and I just rode on as it was still off the lead and I was worried for DS.

This is a national cycling path and much used school route so there are always bikes and children 8-9 and 3-4.

A sausage dog decided to bolt towards my 2 year old last month in the park for no apparent reason and I had to scoop him
up to avoid contact.

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaring my kids when we are just going about our day.

They should ALL be on leads unless they are in a dog park/field.

YANBU at all.

Sick of the things.

I saw this the other day. I thought it was absolutely spot on.

Haha when I'm walking my dog in the rain or picking up poop it sure feels like an act of service but glad I know now that I'm worshipping myself 🤣

Deathwillbebutapause · 06/11/2023 20:57

So what. A leather sofa is a flayed cow's backside. They're tough.

Not my point. It’s a bare butt hole issue not a type of sofa issue x

XenoBitch · 06/11/2023 21:07

YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2023 21:03

Why?

Read it from the perspective of someone who lives alone with no children or spouse, someone with mental health issues who had experienced pain due to other people.
Then ask if was a kind thing to post.

But it's not your sofa. It's cafe nero's, so if they don't mind a bare butt hole that's their choice

It’s about people who claim to love dogs more than humans. I agree with every word of it

Busephalus · 06/11/2023 21:22

Xeno - everyone one has experienced pain due to other people, that's what it is to be human

cadburyegg · 06/11/2023 21:41

I agree with you. Although I have nothing against dogs but some of their owners are pig ignorant. A parent posted on a local village fb group politely asking that dogs are kept under control around children and not allow dogs all over play equipment for children.

Someone replied saying that play equipment is great for training dogs and it's their right to use it as a tax payer until the council build an area specifically for dogs.

Words fail me.

XelaM · 06/11/2023 20:47

🙄

My dog comes from a very healthy line that was specifically bred for health. He has zero health issues and is slimmer and a bit taller than a usual pug - as the breed was originally designed to be hundreds of years ago. It's one of the most ancient breeds of dog with the best temperament. I didn't just purchase a puppy on pets4homes. He came from a very responsible breeder who cares about the health of the breed.

Edited

All brachycephalic dogs will unfortunately have trouble breathing and other problems associated with having unnaturally shortened snouts, unnaturally small skulls, reduced jaw size and folded skin over and around their breathing apparatus. Your dog, in the picture, is a typical pug with a very flat face. Unfortunately it won't have escaped any of these problems by coming from a 'good breeder'. The health problems are inherent in this breed now due to hundreds of years of inbreeding to accentuate these facial characteristics.

It's very sad that humans breed for aesthetics rather than genetic diversity and physiological health.

Well said.

I feel like dog breeding and ownership is, ironically, very anti-dog. We have essentially imprisoned dogs and other pets out of their natural habitats to be our obedient companions. Then we don’t train them properly and moan when people don’t like being snapped at by them

So do I.

Anyone who thinks up a particular person and says ‘but this person really needs their pet dog, you’re heartless’ is missing the point. The particular doesn’t invalidate the general.

Too many people do elevate pets to a status that’s frankly worrying. And I agree that it’s a reflection on the human owner’s view of themselves rather than any valid ‘love’ for a pet.

Dog lovers: just to pre-empt the inevitable ’what about guide dogs?’ comments about need and reliance… please note the use of ‘pet’ in what I’ve said. Nobody is talking about working dogs or genuine service dogs.

cadburyegg · 06/11/2023 22:05

How about a license to have kids who grow up with useless parents and become a nuisance to schools and society as a whole.

This bullshit is trotted out a lot on these threads but no one ever puts any thought into how it would actually work in practice.

How could you enforce a license to have kids? Forced abortions? Segregation of men and women from the age of 12 until they have passed the test?

3ofus3 · 06/11/2023 22:12

Oh absolutely! Don't get me started on the "he's friendly!" I had to scoop my 1 year old up when a massive thing ran up to myself and my DS. Jumped up on me while I had hold of him but he was just "being friendly" 🙄. Told them I don't do dogs. Especially in a CHILDRENS park and the runt was off its lead!!

Exactly.

When will people get their pet isn’t equal to a human

My lovely dog is no bother to anyone unlike many horrible humans and their feral offsprings.

Well that's just nonsense but as someone who has a lovely dog as a companion, aren't you also terrified of all the out of control owners and their stressed and traumatised dogs who are through no fault of their own either a serious nuisance or life threateningly dangerous (to you and your dog)?

I know someone who's brand new puppy, just out on first walk after vaccinations etc was mauled to death in a local park. All dogs involved were on lead, puppy and two attacking dogs, but the owner of the two vicious dogs had no control over them.

Deathwillbebutapause · 06/11/2023 22:25

Those of you who were feigning concern for a PP's pug dog, while simulatenously spewing absolutely unhinged hatred of dogs, are genuinely sociopathic.

I agree with you, there is a huge problem with ownership of dogs.
But.. i noticed you rode an electric bike! I nearly got runover by cyclist walking along the towpath. He failed to pause or stop but went speeding past from behind where I only just spotted the him.
About the little sausage dog running in front and toddler tripped - well, that is nothing much surely? What happens if kids are around playing and bump into him?
I think you have to be balanced about dogs - and not hating all dogs. They are great pets too. Unruly dogs pooing everywhere and dangerous dog breeds that have attacked other dogs and people are the problem. Don't tar all dogs with the same brush.

Who has displayed ‘unhinged hatred’?

I think the very definition of hating a dog is contributing to a market for cruel breeding so you can have your cute fur baby, but that’s just me

YinrunIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2023 22:43

Incidentally I don’t hate dogs. I dislike most of them. But what I dislike more is irresponsible and ridiculous owners . It seems like an epidemic these days, whereas bad owners used to be few and far between. Now any old dum-dum can buy a puppy and not bother their arse to train it

Strange thing to say.

It's distressing to see irresponsible selfish people get dogs on a whim and then see that dog suffering because they're not trained, they're not getting their needs met, and they're highly distressed and sometimes becoming dangerous. Dogs are hierarchical pack animals and need rigorous training and good routine and exercise. Now they're being kept in high rise flats, barely seeing the light of day, with owners who have never trained them just because their kid wanted a thing to play with during lockdown.

No one who has love for animals wants to see any animal suffer or become dangerous.

Yes I too had a near death experience with an electric bike on a pavement outside school. It just came speeding down the middle of the pavement and I was screamed at to get out of the way. It was so fast it came out of nowhere .

Busephalus · 07/11/2023 08:58

'Near death experience'? I call them near misses, which happen alot in life, mostly involving motor vehicles

Busephalus · 07/11/2023 09:01

I mean you don't know thst bike was about to kill you, maybe surviving a shark attack or a knife stack, or nearly drowning, or a car crash, or cancer - I might call that a near death experience
