Just fucking sick of dogs

1000 replies

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:00

Sorry but I am. I was cycling home from
picking up DS from school with him on the back and a dog came running up beside
me snarling and snapping at my feet on the pedals. I nearly bloody went over but managed to keep my balance and get past it (electric bike). Owner called an apology and I just rode on as it was still off the lead and I was worried for DS.

This is a national cycling path and much used school route so there are always bikes and children 8-9 and 3-4.

A sausage dog decided to bolt towards my 2 year old last month in the park for no apparent reason and I had to scoop him
up to avoid contact.

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaring my kids when we are just going about our day.

They should ALL be on leads unless they are in a dog park/field.

And from your responses you clearly think that abusing animals is just fine as they’re only object. Somewhat concerning tbh.

No, I absolutely don’t think that. I think cruelty to animals is a terrible thing. But like the law, I hold humans responsible for that. I don’t expect (because it would be stupid to expect) that any animal has a right not to be cruelly treated, whether that’s by a human (who could be liable) or another dog (which can’t be liable).

Legally, dogs (and other animals) are basically objects. Strictly speaking they’re ‘chattels’ - property, not people.

I never understand why dog lovers get upset about others pointing out that dogs are just property and no more. Dog lovers are the ones who say ‘it’s always the owner, never the dog’, which legally is true because you can’t sue a dog…because it’s just property, like trying to sue a car or a knife or a gun. Objects, in other words.

It's actually a sign of a psychopath to not have any empathy with a living creature and consider them objects akin to a knife or a gun (🤔). That's how serial killers start.

Blueink · 05/11/2023 14:47

This is a bit of head fuck. Especially from PP who has a depressed or at least quietly grieving dishwasher 🤣

A dog is an animal, most young children could understand it’s not inanimate which an object is.

all you dog lovers…
can anyone answer…
why your precious dog can’t be left at home rather than go to a cafe or pub with you?

Because we are all meant to feel the same way about the dog as the owners do. Someone on here even thought it was acceptable for food to be chucked on the floor of a pub for the dog that had been taken in with the food chucker. It’s all getting out of hand

Ok, to repeat a post I made several pages ago:

i’ve always found passionately committed animal lovers to be difficult, antisocial and, frankly, a bit weird. Refugees from life often.

I also think (and I know you didn’t say this) that the frequent cry of ‘people who don’t like animals show a risk of becoming psychopaths’ is bollocks. A lot of dedicated animal lovers have no empathy for their fellow human beings. The most obvious and extreme cases are Adolf Hitler and Ian Brady.

But you have just said it. And your claim is crap.

What happened to walking to heel, and sitting still or lying down when asked to do so? I just don't think people train their dogs any more. Owners are often way behind their dogs in our local park - the dog just runs off ahead.

I've seen walkers and runners nearly tripped up by dogs running up to them - usually with a pathetic 'Oh, he just LOVES runners!' and sometimes feel I can't relax into my walk because of dogs running amok. Please keep them under control, and don't take them absolutely everywhere! I don't like them inside cafes - outside, fair enough.

As someone who takes their dog with them whenever they can; I didn't get a dog to leave it at home for hours on end. I think leaving a dog alone locked in a house for ages is far worse than taking it at and about. I purposely go to dog friendly places and she's well trained to just sit under the table. She's also a breed that doesn't moult or dribble and is small and hypoallergenic so quite unoffending as dogs go. I agree dogs shouldn't be making a nuisance of themselves when in shared spaces and this is down to the owner. I have no plans to stop taking her to dog friendly restaurants.

I agree I'm sick of the sight of them, their faeces and their entitled owners.

loll

Sorry . I misread faeces as faces on first glance

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 05/11/2023 13:53

Yeah it is. People should pick up after their dogs. I don’t think anyone on here is suggesting that people should just let their dogs shit everywhere and then not clean it up.

No I don’t suppose anyone is suggesting it. Even on an anonymous forum, folks don’t tend to openly advocate such irresponsible behaviour. But plenty of dog owners are engaging in this behaviour. It’s really bad in my area. So some people do think it’s ok, and it’s a big problem that needs addressing. It’s irrelevant that no-one on here is actually saying ‘it’s ok to not pick up after your dog’.

Bobsleigh334 · 05/11/2023 15:59

Absolutely isn’t a big problem where I live- anywhere.

Dogs don’t have to be left at home. Owners of cafes pubs and even restaurants have made it very clear dogs are welcome. The Lounge chain makes it loud and clear on its website and has even got a gallery of their fav dog visitor pics. Why would we leave our dog at home when we can walk her and go out in one trip to places she is welcome particularly when being with us is her preferred place to be?

Deathwillbebutapause · 05/11/2023 16:16

Right. Our local pub landlord goes out and makes friends with the dogs coming up the street in an effort to entice their owners in. It worked on me.😁

It’s not much of an issue where I live. It’s pretty rare to see dog poo on pavements or in parks. I used to see a lot more growing up in London so maybe it’s more of an issue there, but certainly not around here. Most owners are reasonably responsible.

This. There’s a small coffee shop chain near me - it’s obvious from its name that being dog friendly is its raison d’etre. It sells treat for dogs as well as humans and donates parts of its profits to guide dogs. Why on earth should I not take my dog there?

You're sick of shitty people who don't know how to take care of dogs, you can't be mad at dogs for being dogs. Plenty of people are fucking sick of shitty children running around being cunts, but is the kids or their useless parents not knowing how to parent?

Wow. Do you always talk like this, are you always so angry!

My neighbour has 3 Labradors who absolutely do this. They range from 3 to 8 years and are absolutely bomb proof. They are working dogs so none of them have been into a cafe or a shop or (as I recently came across an owner trying to access) an art gallery or museum. They don't get walked on pavements or in the street or in the park. Ever. They get plenty of exercise. They have jobs to do and they do them well and are thoroughly rewarded by their owner's devotion. If they bark they are told to stop and they stop. Their owner commits to hours and hours of training a new puppy.

That's what our 3,000 years of domesticating dogs is about.

Not the hapless half hearted efforts current pet owners appear to be satisfied with.

I mean look at those faces what’s not to love!

Loving the dog pics. I can’t understand why people are so vehemently opposed to dogs being in places that allow them and encourage them to be there. If you don’t like being around dogs feel free to start your own dog hostile cafe, but stop having a go at people for taking dogs to places they’re allowed to be.

Yanbu. (Assistance dogs exempted of course).
I live in a small town where dog poo bags are freely available at around 8 different locations and still there are piles of dog poo on pavements wherever I walk. My driveway constantly has a pile I have to remove myself so we don't drive or step in it.
