Just fucking sick of dogs

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:00

Sorry but I am. I was cycling home from
picking up DS from school with him on the back and a dog came running up beside
me snarling and snapping at my feet on the pedals. I nearly bloody went over but managed to keep my balance and get past it (electric bike). Owner called an apology and I just rode on as it was still off the lead and I was worried for DS.

This is a national cycling path and much used school route so there are always bikes and children 8-9 and 3-4.

A sausage dog decided to bolt towards my 2 year old last month in the park for no apparent reason and I had to scoop him
up to avoid contact.

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaring my kids when we are just going about our day.

They should ALL be on leads unless they are in a dog park/field.

Fully agree.

Here come the over exaggerated and irrelevant anecdotes.

You have my 100% support OP.

We have a relative who uses a manual wheelchair. Stepping in dog shit is one issue. Getting it on the wheels of the chair, then having to go on pushing those wheels is quite another 🤢

As for "He's just being friendly" well I'm not. Piss off you horrible mutt, I am not part of your friendship group.

You and I are in a minority though OP. All the dog lovers will hate us 😂

That must be awful. I hadn't ever thought of that. 😞😞😞

Vettrianofan · 03/11/2023 19:28

My giant breed dog doesn't bother anyone but she's on lead majority of the time. She plods along minding her own beeswax.

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:29

@WedRine I confess I have a cat, but she shots in our flower beds. That sounds very annoying. BUT they wouldn’t maul you and they’re not all up in your face ALL THE BLOODY TIME EVERYWHERE.

Yes to a remote island.

I live on a remote island.

We have quite a few bad dog owners here too, sadly - poop piles all over the place (paths, beaches etc,), dogs randomly running up to people, yapping at everything for no real reason, every 2nd cafe or shop is dog friendly and so on.

I'm with you but have probably gone too far in the other direction. I think 'no-kill shelters' are ridiculous, Crufts is insane and the Kennel Club should be a proscribed organisation. I go to see people in their houses for my work and imo there's a huge proportion of dog owners that seem to be giving their animals an awful life.

PlipPlopChoo · 03/11/2023 19:32

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaringy kids when we are just going about our day

This times a million.

If you are a dog owner please remove this phrase from your vocabulary. Removing your dog from the vicinity and fucking off will be much more appreciated.

PhoenixIsFlying · 03/11/2023 19:32

I'm sure the creator of this earth meant for it to be shared with our fellow creatures. In fact their behaviour is far better than humans. We are the ones who destroy everything.

I had a cat once that very definitely was all up in your face AND would maul you and leave scars.

Here comes the belittling of people's experiences......

Missingmyusername · 03/11/2023 19:33

@crazyaginglady I was trying to be light hearted. I do think it’s the owners not the dogs though. People are generally entitled and selfish when it comes to kids and dogs imo. A dog you can and should put on a lead, a child you can’t.

I’ve had a child come up to my very well behaved dog and literally massage my dog in ice cream. Can’t remove child, can’t see parents of child so have to let them carry on. Staying in a holiday cottage too, no groomers nearby so very inconvenient and still a touchy subject!

PlipPlopChoo · 03/11/2023 19:33

I’m always amazed when I come back to the U.K. how many free-range dogs there are

What aisle are they found in?

I hold the same opinions of cats tbf, but at least dog owners should be picking their dog poo up, we have issues with the neighbour's cat coming into my garden to take a crap every single morning and leaving its dead mice and birds on DD's trampoline. Absolutely vile.

Same here.
Next doors cat used our drive and front door area as a toilet for ages and it was absolutely fucking disgusting. Imagine your front door area stinking of shit. I managed to eventually get rid of the cat by installing those noise things and netting/granules. I did feel like dumping my dogs shit on the neighbours doorstep.and seeing how they liked it! Obviously I didn't. I've never not picked up after my dogs and even carry water to swill away anything left on the surface after I've picked up. It's a shame so many crap dog owners exist and tarnish the rep of good ones!

coldcallerbaiter · 03/11/2023 19:35

I think some dogs are admittedly cute but most are not, they are just smell carriers that I do not want near me. When it comes to homes, I know there are different types of dog owners. Some are as clean as they can be and some some aren’t. If they or their home smells of dog it makes me gag, I won’t go to their home or eat their food. Fed up with dogs everywhere. Also I have not accepted that picking up dog shit means it was never there and there are no remnants. Why don’t they have to wear nappies? Serious question!

Yup, agree OP.
Too many bad experiences of being aggressively approached when just going about my business. Love dogs too!

Bs0u416d · 03/11/2023 19:36

Agreed. Dog owener here. We keep well out the way of other folk if off lead in a city park for example, or he stays on lead. I too am sick to death of other peoples dogs running up to him, without a lead on because 'they're friendly'. I also see lots of very large and pwerful dogs with poor obediance, being walked on a lead with just a collar, hauling the owners about. I have a great dane and I wouldn't dream of walking him without a head collar so I know I can control all 70kg (if it were every required, obvs he's a good boy normally)

Georgyporky · 03/11/2023 19:37

Sad to say I agree. Recently I went a week overdue for my first child. Hubby and I were trying to get things moving by going for walks in the evening. We went to a local beauty spot where there are lots of dog walkers. As we walked this woodland path a woman appeared nervous out of the bushes and asked us if we had a dog with us? We said no and she visible relaxed and sat down on a bench looking at her phone. She had a young Alsatian in the long grass off the lead. As we approach to walk past, this dog was just looking at us in a way... Suddenly just went for me. The woman couldn't get to it but luckily I just screamed and hunched over.

My husband shouted at the woman "control your dog my wife's heavily pregnant!" She was pulling it back and goes "I can see that! He's never done it before. " me being too bloody British apologised and shaking walked off. Since then I'm really weary of dogs...

Applerumleandcustard · 03/11/2023 19:39

Yep. , I’m with you OP
I don’t care if the dogs friendly ( I’m not ) and I would prefer it was well trained , obedient and under control

  • this is my current reply to the stupid owners of the out of control gormless so called friendly dog -
