Just fucking sick of dogs

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 19:00

Sorry but I am. I was cycling home from
picking up DS from school with him on the back and a dog came running up beside
me snarling and snapping at my feet on the pedals. I nearly bloody went over but managed to keep my balance and get past it (electric bike). Owner called an apology and I just rode on as it was still off the lead and I was worried for DS.

This is a national cycling path and much used school route so there are always bikes and children 8-9 and 3-4.

A sausage dog decided to bolt towards my 2 year old last month in the park for no apparent reason and I had to scoop him
up to avoid contact.

And don’t get me started in the ‘oh he’s just being friendly’. I don’t want your fucking dog jumping on me or my children or scaring my kids when we are just going about our day.

They should ALL be on leads unless they are in a dog park/field.

Agree OP, but can't say what I'd really like to. Let's hop this ridiculous dog mania dies down at some point

Cats are the worst. And I have two 😅

they destroy all soft furniture. They take you or leave you… and I saw the most perfect meme once.

cat sitting by window, ‘I’m so lonely, won’t someone save me from this life of solitude!’

cat sitting by window looking sad ‘no one has come. My life is an endless wasteland of alone time.

cat in window with hand encroaching - ‘don’t fucking touch me!!’

Thats the most perfect life with cats example I’ve ever seen.

And they dig up and shit all over other people's gardens and even managed to shit in my DD's sandbox.

Toxoplasmosis is always on my mind when I come across cat shit. The owners around here leave their cats to breed unchecked so we have a large feral population.

User0000009 · 03/11/2023 21:36

Deffo dog mania. Plus no one can be criticised for poor dog-keeping “skills”

We have a cat in our local pharmacy, go surgery and pub.

Talapia · 03/11/2023 21:39

I'm fucking sick of cyclists and their cycling kids! They ride on the pavement and through the woods where they are not meant to cycle. Merrily tinkling their bells, shouting 'coming through', expecting all pedestrians to leap out their way.

Except my husband can't, because he's deaf.

Far more entitled cyclists have nearly caused my husband an accident than dogs ever have.

One weekend I was on a leisurely walk with my DPs who are in their 80's and my profoundly disabled son. Think flat, popular circular route with toilets at each end and coffee shop in the middle. Anyway some young fit guy thinks it's a great spot to go running with his dog on a lead tied to his waist. Dog hurtles towards us and goes straight between elderly DP's. Thankfully it pulls up just in time, but we were so close to them being bowled over.

AbbeyGailsParty · 03/11/2023 21:43

Owners are at fault.
A dog isn’t your child. Dogs need to be trained, know you’re in charge and what you say goes. Every dog I’ve owned in 50 years has been taught the word Stop. I yell stop, that dog freezes. It’s not rocket science. They’re also taught to wait at gates and doors, people first, dogs last.
So many owners don’t take notice of their dogs when out, they’re not anticipating what might happen.
And not picking up dog poo, again owners at fault, drives me mad ( and I’m a dog owner)

ooooahhh · 03/11/2023 21:46

I was having a coffee in a cafe today and I looked down and I could not believe the amount of dog hair there was all over the floor beneath my feet. Gross.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 03/11/2023 21:46

Yanbu, I do like dogs actually and go for strokes if allowed by the owner which we ask first. But my god, those that have them off the leash. I have friends that have two large bull terriers and they are territorial, cannot be around other dogs so have to be walked early morning when no one is about and they came to stay with us an ‘forgot’ to clean up their dogs mess. These dogs were acquired as the previous owner couldn’t handle them.

topnoddy · 03/11/2023 21:47

Send them all to Katie Price !

Missingmyusername · 03/11/2023 19:33

@crazyaginglady I was trying to be light hearted. I do think it’s the owners not the dogs though. People are generally entitled and selfish when it comes to kids and dogs imo. A dog you can and should put on a lead, a child you can’t.

I’ve had a child come up to my very well behaved dog and literally massage my dog in ice cream. Can’t remove child, can’t see parents of child so have to let them carry on. Staying in a holiday cottage too, no groomers nearby so very inconvenient and still a touchy subject!

@Missingmyusername

oh I'd have no problem removing the ice cream or the toddler.

bowl of warm water & a cloth, dog sorted! Mind you our old lab would have cleaned it up pretty well 😂

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 03/11/2023 19:11

You have my 100% support OP.

We have a relative who uses a manual wheelchair. Stepping in dog shit is one issue. Getting it on the wheels of the chair, then having to go on pushing those wheels is quite another 🤢

As for "He's just being friendly" well I'm not. Piss off you horrible mutt, I am not part of your friendship group.

You and I are in a minority though OP. All the dog lovers will hate us 😂

You don't touch the actual tyre, it's a separate wheel that doesn't touch the floor.

Just fucking sick of dogs
SunsetCurtain · 03/11/2023 21:51

I feel similarly about people's children

paperpaste · 03/11/2023 21:52

I can't stand them either. I hate that I have to share outdoor spaces with them. Can't take my children to parks without the disgusting fuckers coming bounding over to them.

Even worse now that some cafes are becoming dog friendly. I'd rather eat my own arm than eat something from them. Desperately unhygienic.

Fuck the crappy owners, too.

Saschka · 03/11/2023 21:56

arkmatter · 03/11/2023 20:50

I've lived in both inner city and on a smallholding. Dog mess was an issue on pavements and getting it out of child's trainers just horrible,

Rural areas, dog walkers do what they like mostly. Their dogs run off paths, leave doggy bags behind, even the bright red ones. Recall seems to mean anything the dog would like to do, even though on footpaths they are meant to stay on the path with or without a lead. Not all dog owners like this though many are OK. Hunts are the worst, enough to put anyone off dogs and humans.

Agree hunts are by far the worst!

Every time this comes up somebody always pops up to announce that hunts prop up the rural community and everyone in the countryside loves them. I grew up in the countryside and know they employ very few people, and I have yet to meet anyone, including local farmers, who thinks hunts and their followers are anything other than cunts.

I sincerely hope people's children aren't pissing in your communal hallway carpet, defecating on every pavement and in the public play parks, howling and yapping keeping you awake at night, leaping at you, and stealing people's picnics?

Upwiththelark76 · 03/11/2023 21:59

YANBU. Dogs should be on leads. Owners need to pick up their dog’s crap . Nothing worse that standing in dog crap .

crazyaginglady · 03/11/2023 21:59

@Maatandosiris why is it relevant that you hate cyclists? Same question to all those criticising cyclists really.

I was riding in a reasonable way, about 10 ft clear of anyone, to the side and on a shared path. The dog came at me and DS from an adjoining field. I get that some people find cyclists annoying but it’s not the point here.

StarDolphins · 03/11/2023 22:02

i agree dogs should be on leads but there are so many ‘I hate dogs’ threads already on her that this could’ve been added to.

ChequeredPastel · 03/11/2023 19:57

I have more of an issue with cyclists who don’t have bells on their bikes here. I’m happy to move my toddler and child out of their path but I don’t know they’re coming from behind me until they near collide with us.

Not saying that’s you, but if you don’t have a bell…. Please get one

When I used to cycle to the station and park my bicycle there, the bell would be stolen. Maybe that's one reason some cyclists don't have a bell.

FlamingoHels · 03/11/2023 22:03

Yep agree. I was teaching DC to ride bike recently (first time without stabilisers) and someone let their dog chase !!

Was riding my own bike and a woman (whose 2 dogs were off lead well ahead) said “I can’t predict what they will do, but they won’t bite”. Well get them on a bloody lead then!

ohtowinthelottery · 03/11/2023 22:07

I'm totally in agreement OP. I'm also sick of useless irresponsible dog owners and their little "fur babies". I love a well behaved dog but I'm also fed up of the "he/she only want to be friendly " brigade. There's nothing friendly about your mutt's muddy paw marks all over my clothes. It's about time dogs were kept on fixed leads in all public places - and those bloody extending leads banned.
Most of the unacceptable noise on my housing estate is down to barking dogs shut out in the gardens, no doubt because their owner wants them out of the way - but it's apparently OK for them to annoy the neighbours.
And dogs should not be allowed in shops. I dont care if that means you can't do your shopping - do it when you haven't got the dog with you. I couldn't believe 2 dogs barking at each other in the local bakers this morning. There's a reason only Guide Dogs were allowed in shops in the good old days - not only because their owner needed them to be but because the dog is properly trained in appropriate behaviour.
Too many irresponsible dog owners who are too lazy to train their dogs or dogs that can't be trained due to poor breeding. It's time for more regulation on ownership.

Pittabred · 03/11/2023 22:09

Sick of seeing them...in shops, cafes just everywhere. I just walk out now as soon as I see one in a shop/cafe. No business from me. As far as I'm concerned it just devalues anything a company has to offer/sell it It allows dogs. So unhygenic.
