changed their knicker styles? The style I have bought for years no longer exists. Have bought underwear from M&S forever, but have had to shop elsewhere.
Very disappointed!

Why are they calling them shorts? Those not shorts. This is all wrong.

Also they have stopped doing Worcester sauce crisps. It's TOO MUCH.

Hankunamatata · 05/11/2023 01:49

I know it's weird but they are same midi knickers but they renamed. If you scroll through the reviews on website to may 2022 the reviews call them midi knickers

Reigateforever · 05/11/2023 08:23

My M&S problem is the lack of Rosie balcony bras, not a big choice.
‘Why’, I ask the assistant, ‘because there is not much call for them’. I said that, as there are so few articles on show, of course there is no call for them because people can’t find/buy them. When I do find them I buy 3 sometimes same style and colour. You hardly ever see them in the sales as they are all snapped up beforehand, not like other bra styles/forms.

I got really furious when I bought a packet of their basic knickers a while ago and they had stupid little infantile bows on the front. I’m fucking 39, I don’t need piddly bows on my sodding pants. WHY ARE THEY THERE?? 🤬

I like to pretend my pubes have a bow on their head.
It's the little things.

I felt the same way when they stopped selling the cheese and apple sandwich for some inexplicable reason.

It took me a long time to get over the loss of the Egg Florentine sandwich

I've just looked at the site and some of them seem to be longer in the body than others, strangely. And don't "shorts" go down further to give them a bit of a leg? I'll go in with an old pair and compare them!

This is THE most annoying thing that they say in shops. How do they know there is no call for them if they don't sell them? There doesn't seem to be any way of registering your desire to buy a product if a particular store doesn't stock it, or if they discontinue it online too. Not many of us would bother to write to customer services and I doubt that they would take any notice unless a fair few people do.
I tend to buy online from M&S because our local store doesn't stock what I want. If I do Click and Collect I can try it on there and then and return it. This year I must have returned at least six pairs of cotton trousers and I mentioned to the assistant that the waist size seemed to have shrunk and that I wanted full length not ankle grazers or those odd ones that end mid calf (yes dear Mumsnetters, I am indeed a granny!). She said that lots of people had said exactly the same to her this year.

1974devon · 05/11/2023 09:55

I get the next midi brief..exactly how the m.and s ones used to be :)

FeeBee73 · 05/11/2023 09:58

No free from sandwiches yesterday so they could make room for Christmas sandwiches. It's only bonfire night today.

Daisypp · 05/11/2023 11:05

Agree about the bows The inside label is on the left when you orientate your pants in the morning

StarlightLady · 05/11/2023 12:35

I want little bows on my knickers and a touch of lace. I want something l can pull down under my skirt, without the skirt belt line getting in the way, because they come up too high. I don’t want multipacks because l want to choose my own bold colours. I want gossamer fabrics, not something resembling a recycled bedsheet.

And if someone sees me getting undressed, l want to feel confident and proud in my undies.

Surely not too much to ask?

Gowlett · 05/11/2023 12:38

I’ve never put my knickers on back-to-front, in my life.

I have worn bikini bottoms, like Bridget Jones, though!

ForfarBridie · 05/11/2023 13:13

PinkTonic · 04/11/2023 20:42

They stopped doing the pants I like in a 3 pack of nude. Now they do 3 packs of black which I want, but nude only come with white and another colour. I only want black and nude.

Is that you Jane?

Panache do lovely balcony bras.

LadyEloise1 · 05/11/2023 13:33

Like you @PinkTonic I just want black or nude.
Midi style
In cotton.
Not 💯granny pants but Midi are almost that. Blush

Feduptryingusernames · 05/11/2023 13:46

I agree entirely with this post. The knickers I've worn for years have been altered, less comfortable and seemingly less material.

Gowlett · 05/11/2023 14:28

The only M&S bras I’ve ever bought are the Rosie ones.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 05/11/2023 15:42

I also like a Rosie balcony. Everything seems to be full cup at the moment, and I don't think they fit me as well.

Reigateforever · 05/11/2023 19:26

Gowlett PolkadotsAndMoonbeams and the league of Rosie balcony brassiere wearers. I have been to M&S where there has not been one in stock in my size.
At the time time the whole bra section seems to only have full cups. I feel swamped in a full cup..

Elpaso42 · 06/11/2023 00:21

For coloured tights I can recommend 'Better' tights. Slightly more expensive but they are really good quality and all the colours/designs you could wish for.

Elpaso42 · 06/11/2023 00:37

I can also second someone else's recommendation of stripe and stare, they do all the big knickers in different colours for those who like that kind of thing.

(Also worth mentioning that M&S aren't a charity, they change stock based on commercial needs)

BinkyBeaufort · 06/11/2023 19:25

Nowhere does Waldorf salad any more. Tragic.

I'm sure that most of us are aware that M&S is not a charity, we're just not convinced that their buying is based on real customer wants and needs. If we ask about a discontinued product and are told there is no call for it (but no means of registering our call for it) this seems odd. Also why do they need to have such huge seasonal clearance sales of very undesirable products in very large and very small sizes if they have a realistic idea of what we want?

So true. Size 6 extra long trousers anybody? Hint to M & S: people who are very slim are vanishingly rarely that tall.
