Tesco fricking Club Card / two tier pricing

AIBU to hate Tesco Clubcard App and the two tier pricing in store. It rely annoys me on principle that Tesco actively sets out to overcharge customers in store if they haven't got the app handy or the card, in which case, massive palaver at the tills. They do this so they can scrape your personal data. It just puts me off shopping there TBH.

Moan over. I'm in Tesco's car park as a I write as I've flounced out in outrage!

Lidl's knockoff Bailey's is cheaper still and just as nice

It wasn’t before Christmas, it was about £1.50 a litre more.

Just use ocado

Don't they all do this now?
Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Boots etc.

Just save the card on your phone, it isn't really that much faff.

I agree. I think it’s a great idea. If you don’t like it, don’t shop there.

Finding it on your phone is a faff. Open phone, find app, find relevant page, show to cashier or scan at self-serve till. Even if it's in Google Wallet it's still a few taps to get to it.

Compared with wave loyalty card at machine and then payment card at machine to pay.

Some things really aren't easier with an app.

Put it in your phone "wallet"; press side button twice and hey presto it appears!

Hardly a faffGrin

Goodlard · 09/01/2024 14:37

I also pay be phone so even easier!

LeonBlack · 09/01/2024 16:41

How on earth is it a faff? I have my Clubcard added to my phone wallet and I also pay with my phone. I take only my phone out with me shopping nowadays.

It could not be any easier.

It's dead easy to find it on my phone. Open phone. Go to apps. My wallet is saved at the top, with my clubcard and my payment card.

Less faff than using an actual payment card as I never have to remember a pin number.

tuvamoodyson · 24/08/2024 13:44

My card is in my phone ‘wallet’ no pressure or palaver to have it scanned. I put all the savings I make in my ‘piggy’ bank, and bank them at the end of the year (£300+ so far!)

NotSmallButFunSize · 24/08/2024 13:46

Get the card, get the prices and stop moaning - frankly I will take any discount I can get!

Getitwright · 24/08/2024 14:05

I really can’t see what’s so bad about having a loyalty card for anywhere to be honest. Tesco Club card is just so worth having, not as generous as it used to be, but we once did a London trip and got into Hampton Court Palace and Tower for free with vouchers, plus lots of folks used to use the vouchers for ferries overseas. Huge savings. All I do is either wave card or code on phone, pick up a scanner and it’s all go from there, discounts applied, quick easy check out. I got RHS membership last year with my points. Don’t get loads of unwanted emails either, just targeted offers for things I buy the most. Struggling to see where all the angst lies to be honest…..
