Just opened the M&S app and saw the little 1 beside Sparks.

Oh goodie. Will it be free chocolate or percy pigs? Or even 20% off women's clothes?

Nope. It was:

Drum roll.

A free paper bag!!!! Be still my beating heart, I can't contain my excitement.

So, aibu in thinking I have just received the worst ever freebie or can you beat that?

I got a whole week’s shopping free earlier this year, I’d bought chocolates and fizz too for someone’s birthday. The staff in store hadn’t seen it before either.

Could we please see a picture of the paper bag once it’s collected?

There is a slight chance I may not collect it.

That was a good one.

I always get a loaf of bread, use m&s all the time. DH rarely does other than the advent thing he got a large bar of Belgian chocolate this week!

TokyoSushi · 30/10/2023 21:13

Loaf of bread here!

MediumDwarf · 30/10/2023 21:13

I just checked my app and I have allegedly used all of my offers. I am 100% sure I have never seen or used a single offer. 😐

I buy lunch there when I got to the office, so a few times a month. What a cheek 😂

To add - ‘See more offers’ lands on the generic sale and clearance pages of the website. Further cheek.

You should flounce and take your business elsewhere.

@SabrinaThwaite If you use the bags for food then, sometimes food leaks or is in sticky packaging. As simple as that. 🤣

SunlightOverBamburgh · 30/10/2023 21:27

@Stringagal ooo jazz apples! That would excite me a bit because they are yummy and so expensive in the shops.

Is it chollah? I think M and S do a superb chollah.

FiveShelties · 30/10/2023 21:29

@MediumDwarf that is the same message that I have. Someone could be stealing our paper bags! Don't care if they are using the kale juice one!😂

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 30/10/2023 21:30

Just checked mine. 10% off meat, deli and bakery. And......an entire 50p off.....a £3 salad!! Woop de do!

Me, bitter I never got a bottle of gin from the Sparks advent last year? Never! Grin

Stopaskingmequestionsandputthegerbildown · 30/10/2023 21:31

People getting the good offers how often do you shop and how much do you spend??

GCAcademic · 30/10/2023 21:32

OchonAgusOchonOh · 30/10/2023 20:52

I'll sell you mine for 20p.

Don’t be daft. You can auction it on eBay for a massive profit, surely?

I shop in the food shop about twice a year and rarely spend more that €20. I do buy clothes online a couple of times a year too though. That said, I return most of them as they don't suit. So really, a paper bag is probably all I deserve.

That does disprove the theory that the good spenders get the crap.

That is true. Starting bid of £20?

I get a freebie about once a month, usually for sweets or bakery. It’s odd because while I go to the food hall 3 or 4 times a month I rarely spend more than £15 - and much of that is on yellow sticker stuff!

LittleBearPad · 30/10/2023 21:40

Happygerbil · 30/10/2023 20:06

It is the worst scheme. Such a faff having to load the offers on your card. I've never had an assistant tell me about an offer either.

Waitrose is worse. And their app doesn’t scan.

As for the Ocado life mag - no I don’t want more lifestyle crap I don’t have time to read.

I got the farmhouse loaf. I hardly ever shop in M&S since they moved my local store to an out of town shopping centre.

When I do, it’s for pastries or sometimes a nice tin of biscuits as a gift so I generally spend between £5 and £20 each time.

TheGoogleMum · 30/10/2023 21:41

I don't shop there often. Just checked and I've got free percy pigs! I find them a but overrated though, I'll get them if I happen to pass nearby (only 2 days to use it)

Bunnycat101 · 30/10/2023 21:41

I’ve got some free Percy pigs. The algorithm must really hate you!

OrigamiOwl · 30/10/2023 21:44

I've got absolutely nothing, which is standard for my sparks card. Never get any useful offers from them (generally 10% of kids clothes...I'm child free). Don't really know why I keep bothering to scan my card tbh.

CopperLion · 30/10/2023 21:50

Not the point but I like the current paper bags. Nice and sturdy and the Union Jack design is fun.

Being Irish, a union jack design would be adding insult to injury.

At least it appears to have a map of Ireland on it so it has been localised somewhat. Hasn't taken the rain into account though.
