Just opened the M&S app and saw the little 1 beside Sparks.

Oh goodie. Will it be free chocolate or percy pigs? Or even 20% off women's clothes?

Nope. It was:

A free paper bag!!!! Be still my beating heart, I can't contain my excitement.

So, aibu in thinking I have just received the worst ever freebie or can you beat that?

I know, same here. I've got serious paper bag envy now.

Thats why, they dont need to give you anything to come in the store, you shop there regularly. I would guess that the less often you go in, at least to start with, the better the freebies.

I hate the Sparks programmme. In my local M&S you can get a free coffee with your card but the scanner on the machine is too close to the body of the machine so it’s literally impossible to scan it.

Not sure you appreciate it is a new! reusable! paper bag!

No new offers for me! I have two - yes, TWO - offers for buy 6 drinks then get a free hot drink (our local M&S cafe closed some time ago, and I only used it occasionally) and a link to Sparks Days out.

I’m hoping to get 20% off ladies clothing as I have my eye on a coat - no such luck yet. I bought some boots last week and have bought some children’s clothes for a family member with a new baby. Perhaps I don’t buy enough to be a valued customer, but I buy too much to need to be tempted back.

I usually have a couple of decent offers a week, free loaf of white farmhouse (I'm on a diet, I won't be collecting it), 50p off grapes or cheese, free Percy pigs etc..

Currently I have got .. 20% off Cornish Cove, 75p off a £4 chilled dessert, 75p off £5 spend cleaning products, 50p off a £3 chilled soup, 60p off sushi, 40p off a farmhouse loaf plus a free loaf above!

I shop there three times a week on average for food. Get tights for work and school delivered to the M&S Food a couple of times a month. Local food shop is about a mile away so I just send everything there for collection.

Handy if you run out of bog roll

Mine once glitched and gave me £5 off my shopping and a free bakery item for 11 DAYS IN A ROW. I didn't tell anyone but I did go in every day and tried many bakery items.

Condolences on your paper bag, perhaps yours will glitch too and you can use the bag as a disguise on your 5th visit to the store in a row.

I've got my Ocado wooden spoon! I wave it about like Morrissey with Gladioli

I got one of those last month, together with a really impractical white cotton Ocado bag with, I think, grapes on it. Haven't used it yet.

That sounds excellent. I could use the 11 paper bags to make a new outfit. I'm very talented with a stapler.

I had a £2 voucher last week and a packet of Percy Pigs this week. My husband had 20% off clothing this week.

He gets irregular offers, but they are better ones. My card is used more and I get more but smaller offers.

It is a crap reward programme. M&S, sort it out!

And it's got a map of Ireland on it in case I forget where I live.

I also won a paper bag which when I was in M&S today and dutifully scanned my card.

It didn't even register I had won it.

In fact I was asked did I want a bag.

A free bag is a terrible offer! I haven’t got a freebie this time but I have had a couple of free loaves of bread and a free bag of cookies so I was happy with those.

But you have to eat it in-store because it will have gone all brown by the time you get it home.
