Just opened the M&S app and saw the little 1 beside Sparks.

Oh goodie. Will it be free chocolate or percy pigs? Or even 20% off women's clothes?

Nope. It was:

A free paper bag!!!! Be still my beating heart, I can't contain my excitement.

So, aibu in thinking I have just received the worst ever freebie or can you beat that?

I got a load of sliced bread once.

I stopped using the card when they offered stuff like ,buy a taste the difference Thai green curry with beef and get 30% off organic heritage blue hens eggs.

I could never get a signal down the food cave and even if I had wanted it, I wouldn‘t have been able to remember what exactly the offer was.

I got the free bag too, I'm beside myself.

I’ve just checked mine. I’ve got a free pack of Conference pears. I have never in my life either bought or eaten a pear. I think they deliberately give you offers for items you’ve never bought.

I always get free poison gluten. Every single time.

My purchasing history is extremely clear that I've always bought gluten free.

It's as though it's not actually linked in any way, shape or form to the customer profiles - like the IT company that flogged it to them didn't bother enabling the 'we can tailor your promotions to the appropriate consumer groups' part after the initial pitch.

If you open the app, the middle icon down at the bottom says Sparks. Click on that and it will show you ones available to load and ones already loaded.

There will be a number beside the Sparks icon on the bottom before you click on it if there are offers to be loaded.

Extra bonus points to the people with the free bag going in and just getting the free bag. Nothing else to put in it. Or perhaps another bag to carry it home in.

Nothing again for me.

Just checked mine and it says I have used all my offers. No idea what they were or who has used them!

I got the lady to take a picture of the till using my phone.

If you see people walking around your neighbourhood with an M&S paper bag you will know they used them. Have them arrested immediately.

I’ve got nothing!! They’re obviously sucking up to certain customers with their free paper bags and pears and stuff and don’t care about me at all.

They offer me discount on meat (I'm veggie) and discounts on children's clothes (my baby is 20) so definitely not tailored.

I've just checked, 40p off an avocado!

I live in Ireland. Storm Ciarán is on the way. The bag will have dissolved before I get home.

Maybe they're saving up to give you something magnificent.

You could get a whole avocado in aldi for that.
