As with most things it depends on who’s wearing them.

Sometimes they look good, sometimes they don’t.

Gymmum82 · 25/10/2023 21:26

Literally everyone wears them. You’ll struggle to find people not wearing them at the gym. Problem is they only look good if you’ve got a good bum and 90% of people who wear them are not in that catagory

Topsyturvy78 · 25/10/2023 21:26

I've just googled what they are. I hate them leggings. Couldn't think of anything worse than making my bum look bigger than it is.

TheChosenTwo · 25/10/2023 21:27

My bum is prominent enough and needs no extra attention drawing to it 😂
I don’t see people wearing them at the gym I go to. They are quite odd looking, I don’t own any nor do I wish to!

shockwaze · 25/10/2023 21:28

What's wrong with normal gymshark leggings and a t shirt?

I saw loads of women wearing scrunch leggings and gym bras in the gym today. Fine, people can wear what they want, but people will have opinions 😂

I can't help staring when I see them, must look a right perv.

All the young crowd seem to wear them at uni. Admittedly I am a straight, older woman, but they are hard to miss for the wrong reasons. Makes me grateful I'm not a straight, older man. I'd be frightfully uncomfortable.

It's an odd concept though you must admit

Most girls who wear them in my gym look great but there are a lot of size 8, flat stomached, toned girls there! To be honest, if I was 25 years younger and looked like a did back then, I'd own 10 pairs 👍

menopausalmare · 25/10/2023 21:30

I blame the Kardashians. Seriously, cover it up.

ToffeeApplesandCandyfloss · 25/10/2023 21:30

Some of the young girls wear them where l work, they have good figures but it's awful to see how the older security guys leer at them.

They are indecent. I was in Tesco with my elderly father and a woman with a rather ample bum wearing them bent right over in front of my Dad. He said ‘Good God’ . I thought he was going have a stroke, as in a medical episode not literally. I didn’t know where put my face. Arse cracks need to be covered up!!

😂

Me too! I’d be wearing them everywhere if my arse was 25 years younger.

Busephalus · 25/10/2023 21:33

Gymum, no they don't look good on good bums

VanityDiesHard · 25/10/2023 21:34

I'd never even heard of these, so I had to google, and bleugh! Just vile. Why on earth would anyone want to draw attention to that area of the anatomy?

Fluffysockswizzard · 25/10/2023 21:34

I would even feel weird just wearing normal black leggings and a top that didn't cover my bum. I don't get on with jeans (they make my legs really red and itchy) but I always wear a top long enough to cover my behind otherwise it just feels awkward knowing people can see my underwear outline through them 🤣 - those scrunch leggings are just awful

KStockHERO · 25/10/2023 21:35

For Christmas last year, DP bought me a big bundle of gym clothes. Among them was a a pair of GymShark scrunched bums like this: https://uk.gymshark.com/products/gymshark-adapt-pattern-seamless-leggings-forest-green-rich-green-aw23

I like Sweaty Betty 'bum sculpting' leggings so he'd assumed these were the same concept.
When I opened them, I thought DP had ripped them and then attempted to repair them with terrible sewing skills.

I had to Google scrunch bum leggings. I laughed and laughed and vowed not to wear them ever. But then I tried them on and, TBH, they do look good. They're actually quite comfortable too. Reader: I wear them in the regular gym clobber rotation. Apologies.

I usually criticise people who judge other peoples attire, but my eyes would be on stalks if I saw these in real life.

Busephalus · 25/10/2023 21:35

Hate thongs too

NotSuchASmugMarried · 25/10/2023 21:36

They make me dissolve into a giggling mess every time i see them

You might want to look up the meaning of the word "literally"...

Was there ever a more mumsnet thread than this one?!

Is that said with pride or disgust?

MinnieL · 25/10/2023 21:38

They’re just awful, awful things. I don’t know when this trend started but it’s one I just can’t get into. I actually looked at a pair online and in the description it said that they should only be worn with thongs.

So you’re going to the gym with thongs on and leggings in your arse. I feel like one of the only women in the gym who still wear standard gym leggings😂 I don’t get the point either. Is it to bring attention to womens ‘gym gains’ or just to show their glutes?

Puffwiththegreeneyes · 25/10/2023 21:38

I like them. I'd look absolutely horrendous in them, but I think if you've got a particular type of bum they look great. I also like the tiny shorts as well - again, not for my middle-aged saggy arse, but on others they can look great.

Blanca87 · 25/10/2023 21:39

they look like they would be crevice cleaners.
