Yep you got my thoughts exactly.

You want to know. You google it.

I’m not your Google lackey. Sort your own link out. If you want to be informed try reading up.

these days unless its the main stream media giving the information then at times trying to convince others of x information is tricky at times.

Greater ease of transition for GRC

And status quo with female certificate for males in single sex spaces

This is the Conservative policy, published in response to their consultation:

Elizabeth Truss said: “it is the Government’s view that the balance struck in [the GRA] is correct, in that there are proper checks and balances in the system and also support for people who want to change their legal sex.” The Minister acknowledged the need to improve the process and experience transgender people have when applying for a GRC, to make it: “kinder and more straightforward.” She said the Government’s proposed changes would address the main concerns transgender people had expressed. The GRC application process is to be moved online and the fee has been reduced from £140 to £5.
Elizabeth Truss said the Government would improve access to healthcare for transgender people, who had reported that waiting lists at NHS gender clinics are too long.

You are questioning the Conservatives own approach to transgender rights, but claiming its a Labour policy and something women should use to decide to vote Conservative instead Confused

It’s all there. I don’t mind linking for open minds who actually want the info.

Otherwise no thanks. They can google.

No wonder the link hasn’t been forthcoming.

If you think Labour is safe on the trans debate just have a look at what’s going on up here in Scotland.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 25/10/2023 19:44

most of the people I know vote tories - I will vote for them as they know what a woman is. I have two friends who used to vote labour now will vote Lib Dem.

I suggest you read this article. The Tories have started pretending they give a shit about this issue when they thought it might get them some votes. If you honestly think the Tories care one bit about women and women's rights, you are delusional. Just look at how a number of key figures within the party treat women. The misogyny within Westminster- from Tory MPs- is well documented.

Not hard to guess already.

AdamRyan · 25/10/2023 22:00

If the Conservatives wanted to change the law to make the legal definition of woman = adult human female only, they could. If they wanted to strengthen the sex based exemptions, they could. They have the majority to do it.

They can not even manage to get their act together enough to provide guidance to schools on how to support transgender students, which they have been promising for years.

It's patently ridiculous on so many levels to think the Conservatives will do anything at all to support women, apart from culture wars bullshit. A load of light and sound, signifying nothing.

Biological sex is in consultation process atm, cleared by EHRC.

This is recent good news

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) said that following the review of how complaints against Kishwer Falkner had been dealt with, it had decided to close the investigation against her.

Allies of Falkner portrayed the investigation as a “witch-hunt” against her by pro-transgender rights staff members after the EHRC under her leadership backed changing the Equality Act 2010 so that the protected characteristic of sex would mean biological sex, which would allow transgender women to be barred from single-sex spaces.

Do you feel better about Labour policies on gender ID? If so, why?

LyndaLaHughes · 25/10/2023 22:08

Well I certainly won't voting Labour. No matter what they say, I simply cannot trust them on immigration. Last year, 1.2 million people entered the UK and 560,000 left. That means our population increased by 600,000 through immigration alone – basically the population of Manchester. Plus, of course, that doesn't include illegal immigrants. If you add in illegals, it's probably closer to a million extra people.

Yes the Conservatives have done a great job on this front. They've also done a great job of getting rid of all those pesky skilled workers from the EU. 🙄

Notonthestairs · 25/10/2023 22:14

Why no mention of the crisis in teacher recruitment? Or retaining experienced teachers? 93% of children attend state schools.
What about medics? NHS waiting lists? The delays in our A&Es? Ambulances lining up whilst A&E overflows. The lack of beds. The huge failures in social care. The lottery of SEN support? The falling down courts? The lack of judges and barristers to hear and prosecute trials? The lack of prison places? The failure to invest in infrastructure in the NHS? The delays in producing an NHS workforce plan? The Russia Report (what was actually published)? The mess of transport planning? JRM welcoming in hormone injected beef. Trade deals which fall far short of replacing the trading relationships we had before Brexit despite Cabinet Minister promises.

We paid for a festival of Brexit under this Government!

13 years and the Conservatives "vision" is there to see. They can't trade in their track record - all they have left is immigration and trans.

No party has a magic wand. It will take years to unpick and our economy is struggling.

But I'm not going to vote to keep the same Ministers & the same fractured party responsible for the current mess.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2023 22:14

I did a quick google on what Anneliese Dodds said

Not sure what is wrong with this from July

We need to recognise that sex and gender are different – as the Equality Act does. We will make sure that nothing in our modernised gender recognition process would override the single-sex exemptions in the Equality Act. Put simply, this means that there will always be places where it is reasonable for biological women only to have access. Labour will defend those spaces, providing legal clarity for the providers of single-sex services.

Round here we talk about tactical voting all the time.

Haha - round here we don't talk about it so much, we're just a geographically large district that constitutes the 'lesser' of the 2 districts our MP represents; the one he doesn't live in when he's not making his dosh and main living in London.

There's a pretty good Tory MP representing the adjacent District/Constituency - brings up a lot of local issues in Parliamant, so the locals here know they're getting a bum deal.

I'll probably vote Labour just as a 'pressure' vote - 'pressure' voting is effective in the long term I've found.

*I live in an echo chamber, almost all my friends and colleagues are Labour supporters, and I only actually know one person who definitely votes Tory.

She's still voting Tory because she's politically and economically illiterate, and has no grasp of how stuff works. She bloody loved the flatulent fabricator Johnson because she thought he was "hilarious". She was an NHS nurse for many years and is now in local government, managing sheltered housing schemes, but because she's got a few lazy colleagues she's still convinced that our public services are adequately funded and any problems are down to bad management and/or lazy staff. Oh, and also because so many people have more children than they can afford because they get more benefits (I've pointed out that since 2017, they don't get any more money after the second child, but she just shrugs). *

Do this ‘friend’ a favour and stop being her ‘friend’. Go and live in your echo chamber as you clearly can’t take someone with a different opinion.
There is plenty of waste in public services and maybe, having experienced it, this lady may actually know better than you. Also, you are incorrect that you get no more benefits after 2 children.

Typical be kind socialist voter who can’t accept that other people vote differently because they feel that is what is best for society.

It’ll be hard to keep males out of female single sex spaces if men have a GRC stating they are female

How would they do it? What legal change will they make to do it. So far they’ve talked of defending the Equality Act

Today yet another Tory MP has been suspended for sex offences.

The party who elected Boris Johnson as leader. Of the six women we know about relationships with, it is something like- divorced, abandoned, ignored, divorced, unbounded, bored.

verdantverdure · 25/10/2023 22:22

What's happening with the Tory MP on bail for rape? It takes two or three years for a rape case to come to court nowadays.

I think I read he's not allowed at Westminster at all.

ah good, another kind hearted socialist who can't accept someone could be educated and understand politics and have a different opinion on what is best for the country.
Of course all labour voters only do so to make the country better, no self interest at all, that only applies to tory voters.

He has been banned from Westminster but has been re-elected as the Tory candidate in his constituency and allowed to stand in a GE

Great @DuncinToffee

You'd think someone would've worked out who he is by now.

Male Tory MP who is never seen in Westminster at all can't be a large pool of Susie ts.
