Would be such a shame not to continue the discussion.

Also, where did that come from because 1) it has a typo and 2) I'd be interested in the wider context around gender?

AdamRyan · 26/10/2023 15:02

OK, well as a feminist I think it will be brilliant if the police start recording hate crimes against women, and using it as an aggravating factor in crimes.

That will help in enforcing domestic violence, sexual assaults, GBH etc and applying appropriate punishments.

I cannot see why any feminist would argue against that statement in principle.

I’d rather know of the gender part includes misgendering

Given the trajectory in countries where women have been up against it for stating men cannot be lesbians I’d check what can be posted on mn or other sites or said publicly

Plus Law Commission recommended against it based on women’s aid and other groups

Google tip Norway lesbian men free speech

And Law Commission

The Law Commission has recommended that “sex or gender” should not be added to the protected characteristics for aggravated offences and enhanced sentencing as it would be ineffective at protecting women and girls and in some cases, counterproductive.

Part of the mix it all helps don’t worry

What is missing from the mix is any respect for truth, integrity and respect for the UK and its citizens. The only people it helps are those hostile to this country. So I will continue to worry about it. We should all be worried about it.

Sure.

BIossomtoes · 26/10/2023 15:17

Wallis shouldn’t have any problem finding another seat, there are plenty to choose from - how many Tory MPs are stepping down? I think it was 50 at the last count.

Passepartoute · 26/10/2023 15:17

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:02

Sure. Like I said the pp didn’t want to know

I guessed that was the case. I got it right.

A waste of time. If they are keen they can google.

If it's true and supported by evidence, I'd quite like to see the evidence. However, if the person making the claim won't provide the evidence, I'm going to assume that the most likely explanation is that it's because it doesn't exist, and I'm not going on a wild goose chase.

Well if you are open to new information and can request in a nicer way than below I’m sure you’re more likely to see any links.

If it’s I don’t want to know and unpleasant as per then the poster will more likely say forget it I’m not wasting my time.

Passepartoute · 26/10/2023 15:25

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:14

You can be interested but I’m not googling for people who don’t want to know it anyway as pp stated

Also I do think people need to read up and as you discounted FWR earlier I can see the Labour dominated threads are more your thing.

Fine up to you. I’m not going to relay every FWR post to you. I find posters on there very clued up. You don’t. I won’t bother convincing you otherwise.

Btw it’s not unfounded. It’s is what was said by Dodds. Labour will make the process easier.

Your problem is that a number of people did respond by providing links to and quotes from what Anneliese Dodds has actually said, and they don't support you.

No they haven’t.

It is going to be easier that’s a basic Labour claim

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 15:31

It’s good to see people don’t want it to be easier though. A start at least.

The rest is reading up

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2023 15:38

Reading up on what? The benefits to Britain from 13 years of Tory chaos, infighting, sleaze and expensive mistakes?

If there was any good reason for voting Tory, you'd have provided it. The party would be able to point to it. As it is, they're still a shambolic mess and the chaos will continue post GE when they get rid of Sunak. Assuming he lasts that long.

Read up on GC point of view

You may have to be open to more than Labour dominated threads though

Some avoid FWR as said. A pity as being informed is better

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2023 15:46

I continously keep up to date on GC news, being a GC feminist. I know the damage the Tories have inflicted on women's rights and am aware of the further damage they will do. The Tory government have zero respect for women or our rights and are as "captured" as anyone else. The party is riddled with TRAs. One of them may well be the next leader.

Edited

Yes I have seen posters try to explain why they say what they do on FWR I wouldn’t say you are open to their views

Missdemeanorz · 26/10/2023 15:52

The outcome of the election will most likely depend on the state of the economy. However, there is a significant gap between what is currently thought to be happening and what should ideally happen. According to various statistics, the economy is growing, with an increase in value but a decrease in volume, which is leading to higher prices, yet you basically get more for your money.

All other micro issues are irrelevant. It remains to be seen if Labour can avoid identity politics.
From my personal experience, I can confidently say that my career and salary are stable. However, DP's business has witnessed a 400% increase in his turnover. This may indicate that they are performing better in their business. Nonetheless, the UK does face some efficiency problems, which are caused by inadequate investment and a political workforce that is heavily unionized. I am aware that DP is having a hard time recruiting dependable staff.

BIossomtoes · 26/10/2023 15:57

The UK has a political workforce that is heavily unionized.? I don’t think so. If that was the case we wouldn’t have seen the levels of wage erosion that have helped create the current shitshow.

You'd rather know about misgendering than make hatred of women a crime....thus neatly proving my point about FWR/gender conservative posters

The Conservatives have committed to making it easier too, have already put the process online and reduced the cost from £140 to £5 Confused

The Law Commission informs my views too. Did you even look it up?

Be informed at least rather than pointless quips about non Labour voters.

I don’t support your party, so what?

I can still read up which it seems you are not keen on. I can guess why as it’s not in the best light for you.

I am open to all feminist discourse. I am open to facts and evidence. My mind however is not so open that my brains have fallen out.

The Tories don't care about women. The evidence shows it. I am a feminist, not a Toryist.

bombastix · 26/10/2023 16:06

@Missdemeanorz - heavily unionized? Did you live here in the 1970s???

Seriously, I don't think it's ever been lower in the U.K.

It hasn’t. That link to a government website literally says that.

Notonthestairs · 26/10/2023 16:08

You could read this thread and assume there wasn't a crisis in our schools (buildings and workforce), medical services (buildings, equipment, beds and workforce), in mental health services and CAMHS, in SEN provision, in Social Care, in our police forces, prisons and legal system (buildings and workforce), in local government, in transport infrastructure and the economy and trade relations.

Little wonder Conservatives focus on trans and immigration, chess sets and A levels.

So you’re including FWR posters in that. And others avoiding it too, as not echoing their political bias.

However as far as intelligent debate goes on political issues I know where does it better.
